Let me ask this...

How many rebels will avoid "CrackDown" cities because of death/decay?

Now...

How many rebels would flock to these cities if there was no decay thanks to insurance?

Personally, If I knew that my items wouldn't decay, I'd run to these cities and have some serious fun...but knowing that I risk my hard earned items, I'd rather hold back and save them for when I need them...

I know there are hard-core players out there who don't care about decay, but look at it overall...the Devs are adding the CrackDown as a fun aspect...removing Decay if the person is insured would encourage more people to get involved in the CrackDown rather then avoid it...which sounds like more fun?

G, I'm not upset at TH like most others here. I'm actually upset at the SWG team in general. Considering how many times you all have told us you don't give out information until you are very very sure its in, or going to work, or you can do it, what ever, and just for this reason: I find it hard to believe this is not some back pedal, misconception, distraction, false pretence situation.

Considering TH told us it would happen, and the TC notes said it was in, and now you say it "can't" be done. Truely I find it hard to believe. I'm big on conspiracies, and strongly distrust large organizations with power such as governments. So my head is already thinking, something came that you don't "want" to do this, and so you mislead us into thinking you "can't". Pretend you are working on trying, and hope that we eventually get riled up about something else, and forget about this. Typical upper managment vsthe massestactic.

The comment that TH made about how tailors need loving, and that things were not decaying at all, it totaly BS. Things do decay now. And PvP should have nothing to do with them. In PvP armor still decays from protecting. Considreing in PvP, you can be very seriously outmatched real quick with out any choice in the combat, you can die many times very quickly. If you guys actually played the game(yes I played that card) you would realize that the PvP game in SWG is GREATLY different then the PvE game. In PvP unless you are a great combat profession, and spent 200 or more points on combat, you can be easily outmatched and thus die fast. It's not nearly as balanced as PvE. In PvE I can get a mission, that won't be drastically over my level, and with out me knowing it. PvP that does happen.

So unless you want all PvP to be strickly combat professions, and Uber PvP templates, I suggest you think about this for more then 2 seconds. A big part of the PvP game is being Overt. When you are overt, the game is GREATLY different. Even with all my skill points spent, and being almost master pistoleer, I am out matched with even just two good PvPers, or just one good PvP template. I might take that risk in that I come across someone I catch off gaurd, or someone lower level, or not as prepared. But I take that risk knowing I might die if I meet the other type, for that is PvP. The risk is I die, have to clone(possibly far out of my way), loose faction, get wounds in some cases(dont forget about traveling while overt) and then have to go redeclare. Not to mention, any armor I'm wearing took some hits. So this is enough risk involved for the PvP part of the game. It's supposed to be fun, and get us involved, not make us stay away from it unless we are some uber PvP template combat profession.

If you ran into some road blocks in the code, then just tell us that. If it looks like's it going to be hard, then just tell us that. Dont make up crap, it insults us.

"It kills me to see how harsh some of the player population is towards him, because I know in no small part, we are responsible for any misinformation that you receive from him. No one is perfect, and things happen very rapidly from time to time. Miscommunications are going to occur. Don't kill the messenger. Please be forgiving, or direct your wrath towards a more guilty party (me). "

Ok the porblem now is that TH and you have different stories. According to TH the game code does not make it possible to detect the different situations. According to you SOE doesn't want it to work that way.

So which is it? Is it one or the other or both? Being a programmer I can think of a few easy ways toshoehorn the 1% thing in (assuming that what TH sais is true that one part knows about it and the other part does not). So I am goign with what TH said is probably wrong.

Now is it that he sais what SOE wanted him to, said what he thought was the case (but didn't get right) or did he just make sonemthing up to keep us quiet?

If you are going to communicate with us then please keep the story straight. Also don't post something and then watch as pages and pages grow on it and stay silent... that is not communication.

In response to TH's roll up sleeves comment.

Personally I am not going anywhere either...I have said once and I will say it again...If you want a good game you work for it...we work for it...you work for it...and when it is done....we all laugh at those who did not have the courage and determination to be part of something great.

In other words to quote that Tom Cruise movie...

Now as to your harsh words and attitude towards Thunderheart... I understand your frustration. But you have to know that every morning, the first person I talk to is TH, to find out about the current hot issues. He comes with us to almost all of our high-level meetings and represents "the voice of the players". He has tremendous passion for the game, and for you, and for his job. He fights for your issues, heart and soul, day in and day out. His job is to know your desires and represent them to us. And I think he does his job **edit** WELL.

don't get mad at us because we aim our frustration at TH. this is a community taken to the breaking point because of the lack of communication and deception.

if you don't want us to rip him up then don't

1. promise things you won't do

2. give him the wrong information

he took the job knowing full well we are all very perceptive and critical people.

and we have the right to be.

i've paid 159 dollars to play this game up to this point.

we pay every month to have fun and we come here to FIND OUT WHY we are not having fun, and frankly if you take the time to look around - a lot of us are not having fun.

there are several simple solutions that would make us all happy and keep you guys from losing even more money.

take the decay out until you can work something out that delivers on your promises.

or make it where insurance guards against decay.

you are the one that put thunderheart in this position and you are the one that should take the blame if he gets ripped.

not us.

and as a wookiee player (and ex ch) i can't honestly say i can see any of TH's hardwork doing anything for me.

all i see are general comments.

i've been burned bad by you guys because of my choice of species and profession and the game isn't nearly as fun for me as for the rest of the people playing because i can't wear armor.

you guys don't feel this is a big issue and ignore all the wookiees who plead for armor everyday on these boards.

you ignore us

you don't tell us why we don't have it

you don't help us out at all

if you love the game so much stop putting in window dressing like colored bikes and fix the problems.

Well, my point of view is simple:

- i don't care to pay insurance after each death as long as my items don't decay because of deathif insured

- i'm tired of paying for insuring camps/traps/... this is meaning less.

- resolve the bug giving you a TEF after death preventing you from insuring peacefully again your items because your are kicked out from clone center (it seems that the TEF comes from the group with you still having their TEF and giving it to you)

Cheers.

Please dont ruin a post for something that is obviously causing so many players to get upset. Players that do actually PVP become very upset when they pay up to 1million credits for a suit of armor to use..... only to find out that if they use it in PVP and clone they lose 1% of its condition. Now when they run back and fight 10-20 times over in a battle their armor now goes down to 20% of its original condition. Believe me this happens all the time and that's one battle. Now this wouldn't be so bad if people could actually repair their armor and not have 1 out of 5 of the items be destroyed and.... it wouldn't be so bad if you could actually find good quality armor all in the same color that you wanted at an armorsmith's shop. But this is not the case. The reality of it for anyone who has played PVP is that you can spend weeks or even months.... gathering enough credits to buy a good composite set and then actually spend a few weeks or months trying to find the armor that you wanted because gathering resources is such a pain for AS and all other crafting professions that they cant possibly keep up with the supply. Believe me.... i have an Master Armorsmithfriend and you wouldnt believe how hard it is to actually find resources to make good quality armor (try several months of waiting for the right quality of resources to appear on your server and checking swgcraft every day .... putting up harvestors... paying for maintainance... gathering energy... etc. etc... because you need to horde the resources before it shifts..... I'm doing it right now btw.... it's been 4 weeks since i got master AS and ive found 3 out of the 15 resources needed to make one good quality composite armor set.... checking it everydaysingle day) These are obviously huge problems in the game... and I don't appreciate a NOVICE musician\fencer\droidengineer posting that this is a cry from the "Just make me happy. I dont care about anyone else" community. When there is this much uproar about an issue... which is one of several issues.... please have some respect for the people that have been playing this game since it started and are asking for a little help from the DEVs to keep us playing the game. If someone can't see how this upsets the people playing to a point where they will quit... I dont understand if anything would. This is a game that we all pay for and it's supposed to be "fun" and "work".... that's the nature of it. But this is just the tip of the iceberg of multiple problems that are being overlooked by the DEVs and people are beginning to have enough. I would like to continue playing this game.... I am a not a quiter in no means of the word whatsoever. But the fact is that SOE will not listen unless the lose money and they will not fix issues that are obviously wrong with the game. And sometimes the Game just isn't fun anymore because of these issues. SOE will lose players if they dont fix them and continue to ignore the player base. It can't be anymore clear than that.

Hey how about you guys get a clue up there JustG. The reason people were so harsh on TH was cause they are tired of being ignored and jerked around about issues that matter to us, THE PLAYERS. While 1% decay may seem like a good game mechanic to you, it really bites for those of us who are PLAYING the game.

Many, many, many people looked forward to PVP and taking part in the GCW again. Decay, put a serious crimp in it. I have not been overt since decay was implimented, except to by an imp uniform for my house. That's it... I don't care how much insurance costs me each time I die, but i do care about loosing clothes and armor that I've put valuable tapes or mods into.

So needless to say when it was announced we were all relieved....we were like finally they have listened to us. Now you've jerked the rug out on usonce again and youcan't understand why were mad? Grab a clue please!

Listen to us, give us what we want within reason. Geez were not asking for decay to be done away with - even though it should be- were asking that you not decay us when were insured for PVP. So poney up a change we WANT rather than some cobbled together perk... which apparently takes more design time...

"Herein lies the main problem with telling the players anything. Things Change. Things change based on the current state of the game, and the desires of our publisher. And the second that they change, you drag up old posts and start screaming LIARS!!!"

The reson that happens is that you (SOE) do not communicate the reaoson for changes. Up until now I thought the reason was that you "screwed up" with the idea of the droid commander profession and had to scramble once you dound out that wasn't what was wanted. Now I am not a DE so I am not following it all that cloesly - but that is how I saw the issue.

If you (SOE) had communicated the change like you did here:

"I said, in my newsletter, that the January publish would be focussed on Droids. After that, Lucas and SOE agreed that Publish 6 would be focussed on the Imperial Crackdown, for two reasons:
1) Increase the feeling of Imperial oppresion to make the game more Star Wars feeling
2) Give us the time necessary to treat the droids with the amount of energy they deserve."

I am fairly certain the amount of complaining would be less.

Then (and, yes, this is brining up the past) there are thing like when TH said he posted the the BHer board and he had not - never posted what he said he had posted, never visited the board to say "oops", nothing.
We appreciate that you (SOE) are trying to improve communication - but with the 1% death "waffle" (which is the real reason), lack of information (the reason for the DE change ion plans), and outright lying (I don't know what elso to call it) in the example above - things are not getting better.

I only posted this in the hopes that you can see some ways that you could have more effective communication with your playerbase.

Really? I guess you've done experiments with a non armorsmith and an armosmith and different rated tools and repaired several pieces of armor to get your 50% statistic?

I know there is an Armor Repair skillmod because I have an old tape that has it. I'm not saying that armorsmiths get any (because I'm not 100% sure), but if they don't, they should.

No SH** Sherlock.. What do you think the Armorsmiths have been asking for since the release of the game?

But there HAVE been a lot of instances where we have been lied to. Right now EVERYTHING a dev says I don't believe because I haven't seen action. The DE bugs you've mentioned for the most part are not difficult bugs to fix, and should have been fixed a lot sooner. Instead, it's just now they're being fixed. I know you'll give the answer that droids are tied into everything, and as a result they're hard to fix, but how is changing a DE schematic (the BLL/protocol) difficult? How is changing the icon of a lvl 2 module to be what it's supposed to be difficult? They aren't. They're quite simple to fix actually.

For myself, (and most of the community) until we start seeing action (it's started somewhat, but there's too many half-truths and mis-communication out there already) we will take everything that a red-name posts with a few grains of salt.

FYI Folks .. decay drives the buying and selling going on in the universe. If you never had a suit of armor go bad why would you replace it? This creates a demand, thus the great cycle of capitolism is born in which you the consumer need something and we the manufacturer provide the services.

WickedAsh, you have made ablind statement. "If you never had a suit of armor go bad why would you replace it?" The ONLY way to not have it go bad is to not use it AND store it away from your inventory. Hello, armor decays with plain USE that's why we don't like it to decay on death ALSO. Decay does not drive the buying and selling...that is what it was THOUGHT to do before it was put in, and then most of us learned that it FAILED to do so. Not only did it fail to do what it claimed it would do, but it set into motion a host of other problems, not the least of which was the decline of PvP.

Plain use of armor will diminish its condition. Armor does NOT need the help of decay.
