Thread: Friday Feature Errata... Part 2...
Let me ask this...
How many rebels will avoid "CrackDown" cities because of death/decay?
Now...
How many rebels would flock to these cities if there was no decay thanks to insurance?
Personally, If I knew that my items wouldn't decay, I'd run to these cities and have some serious fun...but knowing that I risk my hard earned items, I'd rather hold back and save them for when I need them...
I know there are hard-core players out there who don't care about decay, but look at it overall...the Devs are adding the CrackDown as a fun aspect...removing Decay if the person is insured would encourage more people to get involved in the CrackDown rather then avoid it...which sounds like more fun?
I am not going anywhere...but I sure as hell will not be doing any PVP EITHER! (still pissed off!)

Im not going anywhere, how about you?
In response to TH's roll up sleeves comment.
Personally I am not going anywhere either...I have said once and I will say it again...If you want a good game you work for it...we work for it...you work for it...and when it is done....we all laugh at those who did not have the courage and determination to be part of something great.
In other words to quote that Tom Cruise movie...
You guys had me at Jedi....
Hey how about you guys get a clue up there JustG. The reason people were so harsh on TH was cause they are tired of being ignored and jerked around about issues that matter to us, THE PLAYERS. While 1% decay may seem like a good game mechanic to you, it really bites for those of us who are PLAYING the game.
Many, many, many people looked forward to PVP and taking part in the GCW again. Decay, put a serious crimp in it. I have not been overt since decay was implimented, except to by an imp uniform for my house. That's it... I don't care how much insurance costs me each time I die, but i do care about loosing clothes and armor that I've put valuable tapes or mods into.
So needless to say when it was announced we were all relieved....we were like finally they have listened to us. Now you've jerked the rug out on usonce again and youcan't understand why were mad? Grab a clue please!
Listen to us, give us what we want within reason. Geez were not asking for decay to be done away with - even though it should be- were asking that you not decay us when were insured for PVP. So poney up a change we WANT rather than some cobbled together perk... which apparently takes more design time...
If you (SOE) had communicated the change like you did here:
"I said, in my newsletter, that the January publish would be focussed on Droids. After that, Lucas and SOE agreed that Publish 6 would be focussed on the Imperial Crackdown, for two reasons:
1) Increase the feeling of Imperial oppresion to make the game more Star Wars feeling
2) Give us the time necessary to treat the droids with the amount of energy they deserve."
Then (and, yes, this is brining up the past) there are thing like when TH said he posted the the BHer board and he had not - never posted what he said he had posted, never visited the board to say "oops", nothing.
We appreciate that you (SOE) are trying to improve communication - but with the 1% death "waffle" (which is the real reason), lack of information (the reason for the DE change ion plans), and outright lying (I don't know what elso to call it) in the example above - things are not getting better.
I only posted this in the hopes that you can see some ways that you could have more effective communication with your playerbase.

You're slightly wrong:
ANYONE can repair armor, armorsmiths get NO extra bonus.. No matter who uses the repair tool and at what condition the armor is in, it still has a 50/50 chance of being COMPLETELy destroyed.. hardly an "option"..
Really? I guess you've done experiments with a non armorsmith and an armosmith and different rated tools and repaired several pieces of armor to get your 50% statistic?
I know there is an Armor Repair skillmod because I have an old tape that has it. I'm not saying that armorsmiths get any (because I'm not 100% sure), but if they don't, they should.
No SH** Sherlock.. What do you think the Armorsmiths have been asking for since the release of the game?

FYI Folks .. decay drives the buying and selling going on in the universe. If you never had a suit of armor go bad why would you replace it? This creates a demand, thus the great cycle of capitolism is born in which you the consumer need something and we the manufacturer provide the services.
WickedAsh, you have made ablind statement. "If you never had a suit of armor go bad why would you replace it?" The ONLY way to not have it go bad is to not use it AND store it away from your inventory. Hello, armor decays with plain USE that's why we don't like it to decay on death ALSO. Decay does not drive the buying and selling...that is what it was THOUGHT to do before it was put in, and then most of us learned that it FAILED to do so. Not only did it fail to do what it claimed it would do, but it set into motion a host of other problems, not the least of which was the decline of PvP.
Plain use of armor will diminish its condition. Armor does NOT need the help of decay.
