Complete BS !! What is the freaking point of having the decay in for PvP all it does is make people not want to PvP as much as they would otherwise and for a game that SEVERELY LACKS CONTENT you really need to push the PvP aspect forward as much as possible.

Gary,

You know, this "we're having communications problems" thing is getting old.

TH has been caught with his pants down multiple times due to "communications problems".

I don't mind errors being made, as long as something is learned from them.

You guys are making the same errors again and again.

Is anyone in charge there at SOE/SWG? Are you? Why aren't you taking people to task for committing the same errors over and over again? The bugs that make it to live when they're reported by players on TC? The communications glitches where TH communicates one thing, to player acclaim, and then, at the last minute, a 180 degree out of phase statement is made?

And you wonder why TH gets flamed?

This is so frustrating, partuclarly when I'm still seeing bugs I reported in beta cropping up again and again here over seven months after launch.

You've got some process problems that need attention. Otherwise all the effort going into the space expansion will be for naught. The gaming community at large knows something is up, despite SOE's rather hamhanded way of trying to bottle up player discontent. The "communications problems", if they were not allowed to recur, wouldn't be problems. But you guys are not, it seems, learning from your experiences and building upon them.

I will sell them a repair tool and let them gamble with thier own items, I, however, will not make the same gamble and take the blame for poor coding..

I stand corrected. I figured that Master Armorsmith would have the skill mod. (even if it's not listed clearly in the tree) That should be #1 on the armorsmith's top 5 issues. Why don't you guys raise the issue?

apparently I'm not the only one who missed something...

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

Please explain why decay is a is a necassary part of the game, I think you owe the players a simple explination after making a statement like that.

If you mean the 1% decay on death... it might not be, unless they feel things aren't decaying fast enough without it. Players obviously feel like it's decaying too fast.

If you mean item decay in general.. it's clearly, obviously necessary. If nothing decays, no one needs to buy new stuff, ever. If no one ever needs to buy new stuff, crafters don't need to make new stuff. If crafters don't need to make new stuff, crafters don't need to exist. In a game where crafting is everything as far as equipment goes, and the economy is player-driven, decay is absolutely needed. Once everyone has equipment, and there's enough extra to pass around to any new players, that would be it. Crafting is done. Obviously that doesn't work.. and so items decay to make sure there's a constant flow of items in and out of the system.

Whether or not they need to decay further on death... that's a different issue. I'm starting to wonder if people are confusing the two here. And maybe the devs are too.. I don't think most people here are saying decay in general is bad, just the 1% decay on death.

Question to all the whiners:

Do you think death should have zero penalty? What, then, would be your deterrant from dying?

The games NEEDS decay. If you don't want the items to decay, don't die. I know it sounds silly, but it's the truth. Death has penalties... and the devs can NOT remove those penalties.

Dont know about you but I can play a week without dying and for some magical reason my armor still decays. I think you are missing the bulk of todays combined outrage.

And do you realize how many players have done all of the character building they plan to and have exhausted just about everything in this game who were excited for the first time everabout joining in onplayer versus player combat once it was announced 1% decay was being removed?

I bet you have no idea.

Well, i think TH does a great job, and i know hes kinda the go-between guy for us, and we shouldnt blame or flame him for game mechanics. But not everyone knows exactly what you guys do, and what your here for. Maybe if there was a page that introduced all the developers and what they do, it could help some understanding. I was just wondering what the post meant, cause the information TH gave didnt make much sense.

I think we all need to post more calmly and concisely so as to make TH's job easier, not only for his part, but for us, so we can help make the game better.

Here's a quick newsflash for all you whining crybabies. GET OVER IT!!!

1% Decay on death.... regardless of whether it's PVP or PVE. I'm COOL with it.... I've gotten USED to it!! Stop all the bitching and moaning and just PLAY the GAME folks! I swear... I have NEVER..... EVER seen such a bunch of SPOILED, SNIVELING, WHINERS! "I don't want decay..... (wah wah wah)" How bout a nice CORPSE run every time you get DB'd???? Remember THAT? How 'bout we bring THAT back?? I liked it! It added TENSION to any situation. If you died... well... I HOPE you got friends or your SMOOTH enough to get your crap back. OH wait. I know what! HEY DEVS.... make ANY char that dies LOOTABLE!!! Awww yeah baby! Lets make it so people will all but Kiss your (hahahah I aint gonna say it) to get that unbearably oppressive 1% decay back!

Whew..... ok I got that outta my system. Now... to put it more calmly. 1% decay AINT THAT BAD. Hell if you PVP so much that you're armor is all but destroyed in a night or two.... maybe you should ease up a bit. Also.... Repair Kits anyone?? Ever heard of THOSE? Nah.... me neither... must be a myth. 1% aint bad... end of story..... anyone who say's it's unbearably is just a GREEDY childish whiner.

Our plan is, in the next publish (NOT Imperial Crackdown, which is due soon, but the following publish) to have a factional perk that you can purchase with faction points. This perk will give you 24 hours of no decay on insured items for factional deaths.

How about simply making this "factional perk"any of thefactional uniforms? With the uniform requiring being overt to wear, and providing no-decay on insured items while worn(or maybe wholesale), until the uniform itself wears out. Or just have overtly worn factional uniforms never decay. Give folks a reason to dress according their part in the GCW. Andallow dressing up for the GCWto make them more effective performers, and at the same time, make them more likely to dragged into the conflict.

I'mnot sure on the valueof a "faction point" sink that only provides 24 hours of protection, especially if players are constantly involved in a game where the net faction points between the two sides is alwaysnegative.

Let's look at this...

Why do people want to get rid of 1% Decay? I'll tell you, cause the cost of a full suit of good Composit armor is in some cases 450-600k. Althought many crafters can be pretty rich, most combat professions are not. 450-600k for a suit of composit is A LOT of cash. No one wants to watch it go down the tubes because they wanted to have a little PvP fun.

So you are going to have to do one of two things. Either remove decay or find a way to lower the cost of good armor. Now good armor isn't good because of the armorsmiths, it's good because of the Skill Tapes. Good Experimentation/Assembly skill tapes are going for millions which means only the super rich armorsmiths can get them. And because no one buys armor except from the super rich smiths the little guys never make enough money to come close the getting them.

If you do not remove this decay, yo are going to lose the one thing that keeps this game going, the Killers. You've already lost the Achievers because there is nothing to Achieve. If you lose the killers all you're going to have left are Socializers and Explorers (Entertainers and Crafters). Without the killers there is no one to support the Socializers and Explorers leaving you with a glorified MUSH.

Think about it.

well, this is working. i truly believe if we keep making our voice heard, this issue will get dealt with quicker.

What do you all think if they simply removed the armor decay?

They obviously think the decay NEEDS to stay in, to give in game mechanics.

If there was only normal decay (i.e weapons) on armor PvP would be back in full effect.

I'm up for a compromise. honestly i give a **edit** if my **edit**ing clothes or crafting tools decay. i'm more than happy to throw a tailor some K for some new, updated threads. i cannot however, afford a fresh suit of adv. composite every week.

I flamed TH because he was the only one to post information. I'd rather it be **edit**ing Blackman or Koster, anymore i despise yelling at the grunts (no offense TH) i always ask for the person in charge. A big part of me believes the 'top guys' don't play or **edit**ing care about the game. I feel a bit cheated in all of this. As i'm sure others might feel the same. Mad props to TH, i've seenhim inthe city on my server so i can say he DOES play and prolly has a sense of what the swg community wants to see in game.

Until it is 'fixed' i'll be grinding away towards Jedi. again, i give a **edit** less if i get it, but in turn it will gimme something to do.
