Thread: FINAL RESOLUTION ON DECAY: 1% Decay will be gone with the Imperial Crackdown
Bravisimo! Thankyou very much for hearing our very impassioned pleas and answering us positively. And thankyou for the full story.
On a side note, not to beat a dead horse or anything, I think it would've been better to come forward with the full story as to what happened back then, that would have kept myself and other people calling into question your integrity. When we are given half a story that contradicts everyones experiences within the game it is hard to not fly off the handle. I know my own posts were written three or four times before I finally posted them
I dont think edit edit edit th edit edit edit makes a point very clear. LOL.
Anyhow thankyou for the bone that will allow the gcw to return to where it was months ago.
One question though, is this only overt or are coverts covered as well? Or is this ALL factioned play regardless of status?

Wounds upon death are a perfect penalty because they are not overtly expensive (only doctors fees) yet they prevent clone wars (because you have to periodically stop and rest during battle to be effective).
Thanks a lot, Thunderheart.
This is the kind of communication we LOVE to see from the devs, as you can tell from the posts in the thread.
I love seeing the behind the scenes decisions that go into the making of the game.
This is perfect timing for me.
I was just planning to get heavily involved in PVP for the first time.
I was about to order armor for two of my characters tonight, and I'm working on getting my first set of Stormtrooper armor for another.
I have one concern, though.
As someone with a bounty hunter character, I think the removal of PVP decay should not just be factional.
Jedi bounties will probably be covered with this new change, because all Jedi are factioned.
But I really hope this gets re-evaluated before non-Jedi player bounties get put into the game.
I'm sure that player bounties will be optional, and I think a lot of people who would be interested in participating would be more hesitant to do so if their armor would decay if they died.
Thanks again for helping us out
I hope we can expect more communication like this in the future.

To play Devil's Advocate though - has there been thought given to the implication of this? That being that now that (providing you have cloned) there is no penalty for Faction death, faction battles will again become "zerg" actions? There is now nothing standing in the way of folks continually returning from the cloning centre to either wear down defences or continually bolster them (in the case of bases specifically). Please correct me if I am wrong here.
I think some thought should be given to putting in a 5 minute "groggy" period the same asthe 1 minute one that exists already for doctor resurrection. During that time the player should not be able to attack or go overt. This could easily be applied to all deaths as well, as most of the time in PvE people die a fair distance from the cloning centre, and if not it's usually because the same "zerg" tactics are being used against a tough critter (Krayts).
babyRancor, there IS a penalty to factioned death. That penalty is the loss of faction points. It may not seem like much, but remember that you lose 45 for a death compared to only gaining 30 for a kill in PvP.
I like the idea of a groggy period...but I don't think it should be five minutes. Maybe 1 or 2...
Thank you Thunderheart for this great news. My faith in the dev team has just risen quite a bit, and with the upcoming patch maybe I'll get into PvP some![]()
THUNDERHEART:
PvP death due to DB = no decay
PvP death due to 3 incaps = decay
True or False?
Hopefully no decay for both situtations.
