Thread: FINAL RESOLUTION ON DECAY: 1% Decay will be gone with the Imperial Crackdown
Add to that, the whole decay on death system makes no sense at all. Follow the logic:
1. Only armor, clothing, and misc gear decays.
2. Clothing and misc gear are fully functional even if fully decayed.
3. Armor and clothing decay in the combat process, as you take damage.
4. Weapons, pets, droids, resources, meds do not decay.
Bottom line, armor wearers in PvE take double decay. Is this fair?
Weapons only take singe decay through use of specials and power-ups.
Pets live forever, never degrading.
Houses and structures have maint to counter decay.
Droids last forever without need on maint, or sufferign decay.
Even if you are blowen up by germades, your resources and meds don't decay or degade in quality.
I was told that the decay system was put in to simulate reality, well...it doesn't. Only armor is effected.
Summary:
1. To remove decay from PvP and not PvE is not fair.
2. To single out armor as the only item truly affected by decay is grossly unfair to certain professions and play styles. It already decays nassivly through use, like nothing else in the game.
3. Pets of all types are in no way touched by decay.
4. Decay does not afect food, meds or resources.
5. This is not a realistic system.
suggestion: All items decay over time, and all tiems require regair and maint, or the stats degrade. Combat causes enough armor decay, death does not need to carry any. If there is death decay, it should hit everythign on you, lowering the stats on it by 1%.
This system makes me nuts, it's unfair, and illogical.
- Owned up to a mistake
- explained how it happened
- Posted it in an obvious place, making it conspicous to even casual forum readers
really made it that much more effective. I get teh feeling I may have been shorting you on credit when it came do miscommunications recently, but the explanations have been buried in threads so I've missed them.
Thank you again.

I'm happy about the change, but I feel bad for the programmer who had to work (probably) most nights and all weekend long to get this change into this publish just because some people couldn't accept a simple mistake and wait a little longer for the change.
Thanks for saying so BigSteve
I'll pass along your kind words. They are much appreciated.
Heh, I feel for the testers who probably had to test after the coding was done, into the wee hours of the morning and all weekend *grin* And the leads and managers who probably had duty to stay up 7am to 2am to watch it all.

Thanks to the whole team! I too think this is a great fix and will encourage PvP, but enough folks will perish 'in the field' to keep tailors happy. Great balance.

- If i am deathblown by an enemey faction player, will my things decay? (You've said no here)
- If another player uses a faction pet on me (such as an AT-ST), and it deathblows me, will my things decay?
- If i am doing a terminal mission to destroy a stormtrooper base, and a stormtrooper (not controlled by a player) defeats and deathblows me, will my things decay?
Thank you very much.
Thank you Devs, This was needed most to help revitalize PvP and the GCW as a whole.
I know the past week was filled with alot of passion, I thank the developers for seeing and hearing what the players wanted most and acting in such a quick fashion.

Also I've heardfrom TC, if you're incapped 3 times in pvp and not deathblown, the system will deathblow you and it will not register as a pvp death. Therefore you will suffer decay. Beware of griefers....

Okay, good job!
You have made the PvP'ers happy now make the rest of us happy and remove the DOUBLE decay penalty from armor in PvE as well.. It already decay's with use so why not remove the decay on death penalty altogether? Even the Armorsmiths will rejoice because then they will sell even more armor since it will be worth it finally. ![]()
