Palpatine wanted vader out of the picture cause as George Lucas himself said Vader was a dissapointment. Palpatine had great plans for Anakin as his Non Robotic self. The getting fried etc during duel with obi wan weakened vaders potential alot. Luke had the power and potential his dad did and wasnt a machine.

I love those changes, looking forward for all this since so long...BUT....
who cares about all the cities else then Theed and Corellia?
I mean I'm imperial and have a house very close to Coronet, i'll just change it to be in theed...and that's it...no need for me to stay on Corellia near Bela vistal for example? Ive seen 5 ppl there in the last 3 weeks lol, really not worth it...no one cares for those cities, give us a reason to go back to NPC cities then...

Additionally, if a Jedi is scanned s/he runs the risk of being exposed. Should this happen, the police may panic and call for help, bringing a very powerful force on the Jedi. Note that Imperial allied police will call forces to attack any Jedi, regardless of faction. Rebel aligned police will only call guards to attack Dark Jedi.
Will Jedi have the chance to confuse the police at scans using the Jedi mind trick (wave their hand and make the scanner repeat after them) like they did with imperial crackdown stormtroopers before publish 9?
I really hope so, as it was one heck of a great feature, immersion-wise.
I hope not. Jedi have it too easy as it is.

As cool as this sounds, it bothers me to see Corellia in this war. With all due respect, Corellia should not be a part of the war. Corellia has always been neutral and did not, and would not allow any imperial or rebel presence overrule their own private protection (Corellian Security Force). Sure, imps and rebs were there, but huge bases and city controls should not be a part of Corellia. Being a huge Corellian fan, I find this aspect to be upsetting. The other planets are fine, but it would be nice for a neutral planet to be left alone and kept neutral.

Only one thing.
Those are great changes bringing a lot of good and welcome things into game. There is however one significant (at least IMHO) problem with them. They are assuming the GCW is balanced, that empire and rebellion are both equal forces fighting over control of planets, which in this time frame is COMPLETELY untrue.
If you want to keep the balance, move the timeline - either to pre ep2 or post ep6.
Or think of changing the systems to reflect differences between factions, because right now you are making them the SAME with just different symbols/logos/etc.
Thanks for attention.

- PvP Enabled people will not get scanned at all. If its their same faction they are let go, if its an enemy, thats pretty much a moot point as they will immediatly get attacked.
- Anyone not PvP enabled for either faction should get scanned, IF they are smuggler they get the benefits therein, regardless of Rank
So, if you are going out to pvp you can take your spices and sliced goods, but if you are just wandering around don't. I'm an Imperial Col, who used to be a smuggler. I've been looking a good while for a reason to go back smuggler, recent changes are giving me those reasons now, but still not enough. I think the above changes would also help with the unbalance to the smuggler community.
Didn't they say there are neutral police that scan either faction?

In a sense this basicly removes dark jedi from the GCW if you think about it. You are trying to defend your base and the rebels are attacking. And right before the big battle begins all your IMPERIAL JEDI are getting scanned and attacked by the 400KHAMkNPCs that the system just spawned to take them out... I really dont think that this system will work out to well. Either the Jedi are apart of the GCW or they are not. Dont remove one faction without removing the other as well.
Imperial Jedi shouldnt even exist. The Empire is direct enemy to Dark Jedi. As a such, it makes more sense if Dark Jedi either join the rebellion (makes sense that they want to take down Vader, even if they dont co-operate with the new-republic-to-be) or have their own faction with their own cause.

How would rebels know if you are dark or light? I realize it is tied to faction currently but saying that imperials are after all jedi means that faction is to some degree separate so seeming rebels wouldn't out any jedi.
this seems to enforce either neutrality or rebel status for ease of play.

My main concern is that there does seem to be a much higher Rebel population then Imperial. So, once the Rebels take over every planet (or most of the cities/planets) it will be ever more difficult for the Imperial side to make a comeback and make gains.
DAOC had a system where if one side had too much power, the NPC's would get "lazy" and not show up. Will there be something along those lines here? Will there be checks and balances so that a population imbalance will not dictate the GCW?

The truth is that dark jedi wouldn't have a faction per se. They aren't unified and in fact would be as hostile to each other as they would be to the light jedi. That's really a hard issue to deal with.

so planets are to be controlled by whichever faction has the most bases on it, therefore its all about money for control, a point will come where there are just row after row of bases as they nolonger take up lots

read up on dark jedi before you make foolish comments like they want to join the rebellion or some garbage.
Dark Jedi are as close to sith as they can get. The only reason they arent sith is because the rule of 2 only. Palpatine trained these guys in the art of being a jedi servant of evil. He simply stopped short of teaching sith secrets as they werent worthy enough to be a sith.

The Area-TEF in certain locations ofmajor cities (like an HQ)to prevent combatantTake-over is still probably the the best idea. But Cal's right. The devs have pretty much made up their mind. TEF = "fer l33td00d ganking" only therefore destroy with a mighty fist.
Either way, I realize PVP will remain. That's not the issue. The issue is having screenshots of SpecOps sitting around twiddling their thumbs while NPCs of their faction get decimated. I can see the webcomics having a field day with this one already.
