TH-
What I would really like to know is whether or not we can start the force sensitive quests at publish 9 and not unlock or be able to start padawan trials till publish 10. I ask this because of the fact that we can still master professions for credit and I thought that maybe we could have a choice as to continue the holo-grind or start doin quests to be ahead of the game?
P.S.- I think the whole quest idea is great INCLUDING the fact that our main character will be the one who can become force sensitive.

TH there is not one official word about a couple of things regarding to the jedi issue .
- how does the development team want players to keep jedi rare ? Or is the 'jedi - rare' thing no longer actual ?
- have u just though about non jedi pvp players and how the new damagetype will affect them ? sorry this might soundlike a dumb question but as i see how many want stun damage AP1 nerfed and there isarmor available for that damage type ... what du u think will happen if an AP2 damage goes live (and the useres FORCED into pvp btw ) into pvp and there is defintly no armor which is capable of decreasing the damage . Shilds are a nice addon but with such a lousy condition they are no option and still not working correctly btw.
- grouptef for jedis and their protectors still active or has a jedi finally at last to stand his own ground ? The own damage type makes sense as long as they have to protect themselfs and couldn't be protected by others .
I wasn't particularly amused by the comment that someone who doesn't want to do the quests twice because he doesn't want his main to be his jedi is "lazy." That doesn't really sit well with me or I wager with most other folks who have jobs and play SWG in their spare time.
The way the devs have handled jedi seems to me more than a little inequitable. The number of professions mastered appears to have shifted upwards. Well...it shouldn't matter whether a player joins in December or in March...the effort required should be roughly the same except for a random choice of professions. But it wasn't.
I have no idea how difficult the quests will be. If they are fun and enjoyable, I won't mind the time requirement. But if they're like EverCamp and folks have to compete to be the first to xxxx Mob that spawns during the day while many of us are at work...I doubt sincerely that the game will remain much fun.
There are too many jedis. Many of us new players I wager would be happy if you had given jedi to 10-20 role players on each side of the GCW. That would add flavor and spice to the game. Now, however, if reports are to be believed, there are upward of 200 jedi per server. It's one thing to make 10 or 20 players "uber" and have a unique role in the GCW. It's quite a different thing to make 200-300 players per server "uber." Nearly everyone it seems, especially the PVP types now seem to want a jedi due to the advantages in PVP. This is entirely understandable. I'm actually enjoying watching to see what the devs will do.
TH and others, you created reasonable expectations of people that their main characters would not be their jedis. That was the system you created. Of course you can change it, but do not expect your proposed changes to be embraced when certain equipment is not usable by some races and when stat pools are not equally available to everyone based on race. Expect your proposed changes to be least embraced by those who have added the most Star Wars flavor to the game. Wookies who remind players of Chewbacca. Trandoshans. Think about it. You are penalizing the most folks who have through their race choices done the most for the game. Maybe you want to have a variety of races be jedi so that the look a bit different. This would be understandable. So I have a solution for you: Make "jedi" count as a race. Ignore the old stat ranges and what can be or can't be worn and used. Jedi training and specialized jedi equipment...enables all races to be roughly equal. Then who can complain that their main is their jedi? Only those who don't want to regain their professions. But becoming a jedi should involve some sort of sacrifice.... Just not a sacrifice based on choice of initial race at a time when folks were told their mains would not be their jedis.
There should also be disadvantages. Yes...disadvantages....to playing a jedi. And the disadvantages should be such that there would be folks who would prefer not to be or play jedi. I don't know what these should be. But not everyone should have the goal of "one day" being a jedi. There should be other viable alternatives even for PVP. I don't know how you guys are going to accomplish this, but it will probably spell the end of the game if you don't.

yeah I'm guessing TH isn't gonna answer anymore questions, seeing as he said he'd respond on saturday, and if not then, on monday.
Well it's Wednesday. Hello??????????
/gettingnervous.
mastered #18 and no go.
I am hoping that the silence from above means good things and some thoughtful meetings are occurring, whether impromtu or official. At this point, we need all the support we can get.

This is exactly the points I try to raise: There need to limitations and disadvantages to playing Jedi to control the Jedi population and give purpose to non-jedis.
I am NOT gonna continue being BH if I am gonna get my behind handed to me every time I meet a Jedi on the road. This is getting ridiculous. 200 Jedis per server at the moment is just the tip of the iceberg.
This is not just about continuity. This is about game balance. SOE force all players who wants to have a fair chance to become Jedis. All the new missions and quests will demand you being Jedi to compete and have a fair chance.
It will down the game after the current time bomb. And it is a time bomb. Six months from now the servers will be populated lightly by loads of Jedis and not much else.
PLS RESPOND TO THIS SOE, I BET U GUYS READ THIS. IT IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE.
Can you honestly say this is about "fun" and game balance and not about dollars?
Your vision is shortsighted and what is the plan here? To attract loads of newbies with the Space Expansion and the Jedi-feel and the pull the plug when all the new subscription are?
Come on.
The new combat re-balance is just another proof you are losing control. CAN ANYONE IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF NERFING AND CHANGING IT WILL NEED AFTER THAT RE-BALANCE. Just imagine all the loops and failures of the new systems that people will exploit. The months of people crying for nerfs in anger. O jezzzuus...
SOE guys, you should stop for a second and respond to these issues cuz they are at the moment being ignored. Why give lightsaber a special damage? Why give Jedis extra character slots? Why will all players be able to become Jedis? Why not an organic and random system? Why not let 1 Jedi completely spawn per month?
Whatever combat balance you guys will do, will be blown out of the game by the Jedi population.
How can you even revamp Jedi and Combat without fixing all the BH and other classes first??
Why not add content for all the players?
So far the game has slipped into holo grind oblivion. And soon all players will be busy with a six to twelve month grind for becoming Jedi to be able to access the high end content of the game.
I dare say this sucxs
With Jump to Lightspeed, the game will be lightspeed away from fixing all the important issues as for example quests and CONTENT. You guys need to give thought to Ghost Towns, people of grinding for Jedi etc. IT REMOVES THE FEELING OF MASSIVE FROM THE MMORPG.
Rather than having all play Jedis it would be better to encourage people to play the existing classes. It is a cheap money gathering solution you guys have opted for and it is clear it is not in the interest of the gamer who wants to see this game breathing a year from now.
I must say I will start my Jedi grind as soon as the publishes come. Cause I want to be able to compete. I am not gonna beg ten other players to help me to get rid of just one Jedi. I would feel ridiculous if other people were more powerful than me all around me. I want to be able to participate.
There is too much grind in the game and you have now added way more.
Whatever - I have given up hopes you guys would listen a year ago.
I do love the game, but you guys snatch our money and does not fix faulty issues and things in the game that has outstanded since launch.
Draccan
BH soon to start endless Jedi grind on my 5 to 10 hours per week of game time -- meaning I can compete the year 2012.
PS You have forgotten the casual player
