I like the idea, but it need tweaking.

Beside a buggy spawn rate asmentioned above the imperial presence is not really frightening. Strongen the presence of the Stormtroopers more, but with reasonable strenght. No need for 40 ATST - but 2 AT-ST in front of coronet would be nice.

Scans in cantina are nice, but the npc spamming is only funny the first time. Give them more to say - but reduce the amounts of messages per second - they spam more like some macro merchant kraytpearlbuying afkgrinder.

To protect the new players a bit more - high ranked rebel players should be harrassed more often than the lowest ranked rebel.

Why are cantinas the most controlled place? I think Starports should be controlled (eg stormtroopers asking next to the terminal where i want to go and if ihave illegal item etc.

Andnext to the imperical crackdown - bring more scum into the cities. At least Mos Eisley, which - refering to the movies - was a place where all the bad guys hang out.

Finaly make us rebel feel like rebels - and not like we control everything due to our majority. Refering to an interview i read somwhere rebel and imp are numbered 70% rebs and 30% imps - it should be the other way.

There are posts from Rebels that state that there is very little or no FP gain from the storm troopers spawning around the NPC towns.

If you want cities to be impenetrable to Rebels, then get a bunch of your imperial goons to pull out their AT STs and take charge.

Wrong buddy ... this patch was Themed " Imperial Crackdown !" ... NOT "Imps get off your asses and go overt with your ATSTs." This was a thread started to get our opinions on how the "Crackdown" is playing out in our eyes. Not a location for you to voice your opinion on how the other side should play the game.

Overall, I love what I'm seeing, but the whole thing needs some polishing. I logged onto Naritus server at about 4 PM PST yesterday, and by that time all the NPC stormies and AT-STs in Bestine, Kor Vella, and Kadaara had already been taken out by groups of marauding Rebels. I think some sort of stat buffing for the NPCs should be in order, otherwise allthe devs would have accomplished is givingovert Rebelsagreat opportunity for faction farming. Also, when are we gonna see the faction items get fixed? When word first came down about this publish a month ago there was talk of fixing stormtrooper armor and perhaps even making other types of armor available (i.e. scout armor, dark trooper armor, etc.).

And for the love of God, fix our hat! (hehe, j/k, I never cared about that stupid thing anyway)

Good theme park loot, good cantina shakedowns but everything else fealls real half a**ed.

Bestine is a joke, I felt no difference in the imperial presence at all.

Lag going in an out of cities is already bad enough now Espa andKadara are totally not worth going to.

In general I don't see any difference at all in general game play, both with my Imperial colonel as well as my rebel character.

Hey TH,

How's things? Still enjoying the game and all? Think us "community members" are undecided enough yet? Anyway, enough small talk, on to the heart of my response to your request for feedback:

The Imperial Crackdown seems to be functioning as designed. There may be some problem with STs spawning and not going away/getting killed when people either die for flee the combat. This leaves a pile of them standing around.

There have been reports of "farming" STs for experience and faction. This of course is to be expected, and will continue no matter how many you add or how hard they are; as long as there is a reward for killing them of anykind. What you guys are doing is making a huge effectively static spawn with a short respawn timer and though dangerous, quite killable foes. You have made your once quiet imperial towns into the Rebel equivalent of the Tusken Fort. The more STs you add, or the faster they spawn, the more rebels will come. If one group of 20 will be fed by this, there will be one. If it takes 2, there will be 2 groups of 20... and so on. Just stop by the Tusken Fort sometime and ask yourself, "Do we want the STs to be this hard?" Because if you continue down the path you are on that is what you get...

Here is a suggestion. Make it just a squad of 6 STs, and make them unkillable, super defensive warriors with moderate to lite attacks. This will keep the rebels away, unless they want to actually raid the city. No more AFK rebels sitting in the cantina, no farming, nothing... all is well.

The last thing you want to do is make a combat where it is difficult and there is no reward for winning. That is becomming the hallmark of this game. If you don't want people to do it, make it obvious that you cannot win... don't just make no rewards. If someone wins, they SHOULD get a reward.

Contraband scanning will also take place in the 3 imperial controlled cities (Mos Espa, Kor Vella, and Kadaara). [/quote]

I take this to mean on the streets of those cities not just the city cantina as was already mentioned. Maybe I am wrong but thats what I infer from reading the patch notes and Thunderheart's notes.

And I use the term crackdown to mean what happens inside cities and outside in the wilderness, my apologies for the confusion.

Ok guys if I was writing a game (and I'm seriously thinking of doing it)this is the way I would organize this Crackdown...

Put at least a garrison of troopers in each city, with armor support (atst, atat, whatever), landing craft from the Star Desroyers on the edge of town. Then whenever rebels attack or are spotted, troop transports (yes more than one)land from orbit to provide backup andthe troopspursue the fleeing rebels as a bounty hunter would tracking where they go. PVP bounty missions would go up on the mission boards. Then when the rebels stop at their "base" or hide out, if they were tracked successfully... Troops transports would then land and attack the player city or "hide out".

Players can be involved in this in coordinating attacks and tracking in so many ways! And I'm afraid SOE is droopping the ball big time!

"Players in both the wilderness and cantinas may avoid shakedown searches if grouped with smugglers for the same bonuses."

Sorry if I'm bothered by this but I get the feeling everyone forgot that a Ranger profession is in this game. I guess the wilderness really isn't our home

Hmmmm...now i knnow i asked for more Stormies but i think someones taking the piss in KV

I opened fire on a couple of ST's and dozens of them came running in from the starport....so many that it crashed my PC, i think i got about 5 shots off at the main group before i was on desktop

TH, you think you ask for a very slight reduction of stormies in KV ?

As an advocate for continuity I must agree with these players arguing against faction point farming. I say take away the faction point reward for killing scanning parties be they troops or probe droids.

Rebels used more guerilla style warfare, hit and run type missions, they shouldn't be encouraged to hang around shooting the first Stormtrooper that 'pops' into view.

And before anyone says anything I am a Warrant Officer, 2nd class with the Alliance

Now that crackdown is in full swing starports are laggier than ever! Why? Becuase there is approximatly 50 stormtroopers camping the kor vella spaceport and I cant move!

Get out your nerfing sticks and nerf the montrosity of this crackdown. I can see 10, but not over 50.

Imperial Crackdown???

LOL.. it should be called "the Imperial Beatdown"

I'm sorry, but the new imperial presence is laughable. It takes about 5 minutes for a small troop of stormtroopers and a few AT-ST's to last.

Certain things MUST be done to make this a more star wars realistic environment.

1.) AT-STs are the equivelent to tanks. Have you ever seen a martial artist take down a tank with his bare fists?? C'mon. The ONLY class that should be able to take down an AT-ST would be a very skilled commando with a rocket launcher and/or grenades. Heavy weapons should be the only weapons that should be able to bring these beasts down.

2.) AT-AT's need to be in the game... and please, for the love of god, don't make them as easy to kill as the AT-STs.

3.) More stormtroopers and/or more powerful stormtroopers. A crackdown scan should strike fear in nearly every rebel. There should be a reason for them to be grouped with a smuggler or try not to attract attention with illegal goods.

So, all in all, it was an improvement and a great try, but it definately needs to be improved. There should be a reason for people to either avoid scans or not do illegal activities/support the rebellion... it shouldn't be a method of farmingfaction. And don't give in to the rebel whiners. I myself am a neutral, and I love seeing a small imperial squad confront a group of people. If you don't want to participate in PvP, than DON'T BE A REBEL.... or don't carry illegal items on you.
