this is interesting and all but what about the negitive 200k exp you loose every time you die as a jedi? i know you wanna control how many times a jedi dies and what not and encourage jedi's not dying but comon you totally revamp the entire system, you minus 200k per death, reguardless if its a BH death or a PVE death this is a serious issue that needs some adjusting. why not have a 3 death rule, every time you die 3x you get the last box you had made taken away from you. or a 25% exp loss depending on box, in actuality you could essentally loose more exp that way but 200k at a time is just too time consuming to make up some jedi only make 400exp per kill and those of us who are lucky to get around 1k per kill were not as hurt but this 200k is crazy please do something to fix this discrepancy

Jedi Related Issues



XP


A major complaint has been the amount of time it took to get the xp for leveling a jedi in the old system, for example a huurton stalker would yield 400 jedi xp when grouped and the last boxes on Initiate would take 800k xp to complete.Although the amount of Jedi xp per kill has seemed to have doubled so has the amount to complete the boxes across the board basically making the xp gain null and void if not worse.



On Lightsaber XP change to Jedi XP for lightsaber skill.


Why the change?Keeping lightsaber related xp the same as the old system would have been a bright spot to an otherwise crappy patch (insert harsher words for the true feelings of it.)



On Armor and Robes (you knew this was coming.)


Lower level Jedi suck when it comes to defenses hands down.The robes are a joke and offer next to nothing in protection and the only benefits gained is a measly +250 Force Power and +10 Force Regen for a Padawan.Some people say Jedi don’t deserve armor because a Lightsaber master can block 95% of ranged attacks.Well I can see their point, but lets look at the flipside.NOT EVERYONE IS A LIGHTSABER MASTER AND WHILE THE BENEFITS ARE MOSTLY PVP NOT ALL PLAYERS ARE PVP.Basically the game is no longer fun to play as a jedi alone as there are a lot of people who play this game solo because as strong as people claim jedi are, jedi are owned at the lower levels hands down because they can’t properly defend themselves.Remember hate it or not Obiwan wore armor in the Clone Wars cartoons and yes that was a licensed Lucas project.Precedent for armor has been set.And for the person who says “dude who cares it was a cartoon” remember “dude there are no Jedi in Star Wars during this time period either.”



On Fun vs Original Star Wars Storyline.


I have been a huge supporter of sticking with the original timeline which would mean no jedi let alone the mass of jedi walking around in their robes on the servers.Yet lately I have been hearing that a good number of people could care less about the story and just want to have fun (also that some of these same people have never watched the Original Trilogy baffles me to no end yet that is their claim.)So that brings me to why make the game suck for jedi like it has become.We are the only class that loses xp with a death, can go negative on xp as well, have the most insane xp requirements to level, and just like most every other profession has had happen to them .. lack the materials to make the higher generation sabers.We play not with a hand tied behind our back, but basically shackled against a wall it seems.How about a solution?I know devs hate when people offer solutions because that means they will have to work, but that is what the job entails.Save the robes and crap for people who choose Jedi Knight and above on the Force Progression.Anyone under Knight can wear what ever the heck the heck they want.Everyone Knight and above straight up robes.If a knight or above leave their respectful orders they drop down to neutral and gain the same status as those of the lower classes.Then you would give people a choice on destiny yet again.Join an order and work together as a member of a faction or stay neutral and still have a fighting chance to enjoy the game.If not heck just make the xp loss across across the board for all professions so it is justified.People grinding long and hard for FS slots .. they shouldn’t be penalized for it.BTW So much for the 3 death count and then you lose a box and xp.Now it is one and done.Thanks for getting that info out.



Now for something not Jedi related .. Combat Medic.


CM is ruining the game.Having been a real life Combat Medic I can say that a CM’s role is support not uber killing machine that it is now.I can hear it now well this is Star Wars and not real life, but the bases for these professions are grounded in reality.Do I think disease and poison should be removed?No.There is a history of disease as a weapon throughout the ages, but the damages people take from them need to be taken down considerably.



Great move on lowering the BH requirements.


Why not just give BH infinite skill points after making novice so they can have every weapon and special in the game?Honestly that is where the direction seems to be headed.Before some BHs blast me and say they are underpowered let me say I was a BH and I never thought I was underpowered, you just have to know how to play the profession.



Server Issue


Do everyone a favor and turn of rain indefinitely on the environments until Corporate decides to do the right thing and buy new servers worthy of LucasArts and not just use the old hand me downs from Everquest.That is sad, a player base a large as it is, a game title from a company whose head honcho is a pioneer in the technical aspects of media and the company responsible for delivering it to the masses use equipment that seems like it is going to explode on a day to day bases.



These are just the concerns of an SWG player who is not an employee of SOE who has taken the time to talk to people and engage in debate game issues for this post.32 Profs complete with Politician nearly finished (so I have some game knowledge.)

There are still many issues with this game that are far more serious that enhancing the jedi profession. Carbineer is completely broken, pistoleer is completely broken, commando is partially broken. CM/Rifleman, Defense stackers, and Jedi are the only viable PvP templates as any one of these will beat any other profession. CM is a profession that can wipe out an entire group of any template in a matter of seconds to minutes. The devs promised us that no profession would ever be able to do that. Peoples XP still does not show up correctly. None of the NPCs that are supposed to use force powers use any force powers. Jedi NPCs no longer use force powers or even a lightsaber. They all use TKA skills. I think that is just slightly more that 2 problems in the game. Need I continue? Because there are more problems.

So anyhow the devs are hard at work fixing these problems, right? Noooo, they are enhancing the Jedi profession. The only thing wrong with the jedi profession was that they didn't have the AP to get master. Nooo, they are working on making an expansion so they can make more money for a company thay really really need money. lol. There has only been one publish in the last YEAR that was actually for a prefession in need (Droid Engineer) and they bungled that so bad they had to make a second publish after the first to actually do the job right. Then look at the smuggler profession revamp... pushed back out of the way so they can enhance the jedi system again. OMG if you really look over the whole game and look forward to what is coming up they have NO plans to fix anything profession beyond smuggler (at some unknown point in time). This does not even deal with the other actual glitches like the force powers and lightsabers for NPCs. I seriously don't understand how this can be out for so long. I don't know anything really about programming but it was in the game and then it just left may months back. How hard can it be to just put it back in?? CMs? Well it looks like they are working on balancing that out and hopefully the issues with CM/rifleman, def stackers, and jedi will be balanced in the GCW publish coming up soon. *crosses fingers* The xp glitch was supposed to be fixed but it still happens all the time. Seems like an easy thing to fix but who knows. Carbineer, Pistoleer, and Commando definitely need a publish dedicated to them to fix everything. I mean pistoleer has like what 4 working specials of which 2 are of dubious usefulness. Carbineer lol, this profession is next to pistoleer in pointlessness. It has maybe 5 working specials also. Of which only the charge shots seems to be of any real use. The others are ok but other professions do them better. Commando work fairly well for the most part except that our skill enhancing attachments don't work, grenades and disposable weapons are pointless along with the acid rifle. The only good parts of commando are the flame thrower and launcher pistol, which are admittedly very nice and usefull. Unfortunatly the flame thrower misses over 50% of the time even at master and the launcer pistol is pointless unless you are a pistoleer becuase YOU GET NO SKILL MODS TO USE WITH IT.

All in all, I do have a lot of fun in the game. But seeing the devs not working on issues that have been known a year ago while they are working on ways to make more money does make me angry. It should make anyone angry. It is not about being immature or a whiner. It's about basic common sense that the game should be fully functional before they basically add a new game (JTL) to it!The devs are obviously not going to be spending a lot of time on the ground game after JTL goes live. To all the people that say they have no issues with the game. HAH! Good luck with the game and playing your flavor of the month profession, while those of us with the broken professions struggle on against people like you. You are the reason games are broken. Becuase game companies know people like you will play and pay them money until everyone leaves and then you will quit and move on to their next broken game. Good luck with that, 'cause they love you!

PS. If you are rebel too that means you took the easy route there too. Going with the side that has a 2:1 ratio advantage and that the devs obviously favor becuase with a 2:1 ratio advantage that also means a 2:1 cash flow advantage. How 'bout that? Oh wait lets review on how many people want to be a jedi... hmmm.... looks like about 54% of the people playing this game want it easier to be a jedi. I wonder what that means to SOE? 54% of our cash flow wants us to make it easy to be a jedi, which means they want to be jedi, which means they want to have jedi be the best and easiest thing to do. I don't blame them for thinking that way because that is the way business is done. It's just too bad and sad though.

I'm sure you won't read this and/or think about it but I know some people will and maybe even 1 or more of SOE's people. Who knows? I can hope. *crosses fingers again*

Again I love this game and really, really would like to see it all fixed and running completely smoothly before any expansions are released.



**Rebels outnumber the Imperials in a 2:1 ratio. How is this a rebellion and how does this make for a good PvP situation?**

I logged in tonight after not playing for a week or so and a had anew message. It said something to the effect that my 6 crates of 900 power Enhance D's had expired and because I hadn't picked them up in time, they were gone. I checked my vendor and sure enough, poof. A quick check of the knowledge base informed me that, sorry, Vendors were never intended to be storage units and unfortunately, CSRs would not be able to refund me for my lost items.


The ironic thing to me about this is that if the developers spent one tenth the time thinking through game play issues that they do in arming the CSRs with iron clad excuses about why they can't help players that feel wronged, this game would actually be....


Normal. Like other products....


I mean, honestly, all it would have taken is an email stating "hey, your storeroom is going to be cleaned out tomorrow and you're gonna lose your stuff" and this would have been avoided. Obviously, the 6 crates I was keeping in my vendor was the reason it's laggy on Dantooine, that we warp when we get off of vehicles, and that bounty hunter missions are STILL borked after a year. I'm glad to contribute my items to the worthy cause of improving game play for all. You're all quite welcome.


I don't know about you, but I don't read the patch notes religiously line by line. I can't get past the 3rd paragraph of changes, bug fixes, and other problems that were addressed. I do know that "Server stability was improved" so obviously I do glance at them, because that's been in every one.

No doubt some of you are reading this and saying, great another griper, ho hum. But, I would point out to all of you that if you eat at McDonalds even 1 time a month, you are spending less ($7 or so) than your subscription to SOE and I can guarantee you that Mickey D's appreciates your business more.


My how things have changed. I remember opening my first trouble ticket back in September. I bank tipped my wife's account, Maker's, and left off the apostrophe which resulted in some lucky SOB named Makers receiving 300k for free. I remember how irritated I was - not just at the inability of the CSRs to see past the policy (and the valid reasons for having it - prevent fake claims) and understand it's intent, but at the nature in which I, a paying customer, was treated.


And where are we today? How much better is the game experience? Customer service? Value for the dollar?


I bet you when the brass at Sony look over the numbers and see the steady decline of subscriptions, they rationalize their a$$es off.



Murphy: "It's the normal cycle of MMORPGs to decline a year after launch."


Stephens: "Wait till jump to light speed."


Johnson: "FatGeek magazine named us Game of the Year!"


and so on.



So many people have said it and, yet, itbears reapeating because the evidence that a company listens, understands, and puts their money where their mouth is can be found not by the marketing and empty promises, but, rather, in the product we consumers shell out hard earned money for: this game has taken a sure thing in the Star Wars Franchise and produced garbage. The only reason this game even has 10 subscribers is the Star Wars Genre.


At any rate, over the last several months, I've found myself sitting back and reading last goodbye emails, rants, etc. and found myself sympathizing with them way too often. Now, finally, I have to ask myself why I shell out money every month for this game. I have a jedi, I've mastered 30+ professions, I've completed the quests. Why do I continue to shell out cash for the promise that "Next month, we'll fix it" or "We'll get to that ASAP."


Well, I've finally decided to vote with my wallet.

Not sure if this was part of publish 9 or a sub-patch, but getting rid of the Jedi TEF was the worst thing ever for PvP and high level PvE.

Why is there a line-of-sight check the medic's drag command? There should only be a range check.

This game is has too many bugs where players can slip or be trapped under objects. This needs to be removed. It causes to many problems and more likely will reduce CSR tickets.

Hey all!


First, thanks for the welcome back gift and so forth. Nice work, that. Now, listen. I'm going to put some general feedback in this thread. If it's the wrong place, just shoot me (after you tell me where to properly post, that is).


For the issues with this patch: nice. I see no hassles; everything appears to be working properly. I've got some general commentary, now. As a reference, please note that I am currently playing City of Heroes and so, much of what I saw must be viewed in that context---if not all. Note also that it is my intention to eventually have 2 online games for just general interest. I'm hoping the second one will be SWG as I have very grave doubts about how the development of Middle-earth Online is proceeding (not yet released, so take that as you may). My final choice will be between SWG and MEO. Only time and various design decisions by both Dev Teams will point me to the proper one for me. Now, here we go:


Missions: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Dev Team I don't like your mission system I'm used to a system that factors in my current status and then selects appropriateflags for my character. Such as: solo/group? Rank? Location? Storyline? CoH does this and then assigns me a mission based on all that---a doable mission that is challenging and usually, rewarding. Your mission system completely ignores all this---especially your NPC Quest system. Still, months later, I take a quest/mission travel out into the wilds only to be confronted with groups of red-con enemies. Completely undoable (unless of course I go in for various buffs and so forth). Is there any hope your mission/quest system can change? Now, when the FS/Jedi thingie comes fully online, perhaps things will be different. Perhaps I won't have to go out and hunt animals any longer? This is very important for me. Note, also, that your 'story arcs' for random missions needs work, as well.


UI issues: Friends, the UI for this game gives me a headache. I'm trying and trying to simplify it all so I can do things quickly and with minimum clicking. It's proving to be a hassle. Movement, especially, is a hassle. I've done some simple keybinds to try and duplicate the ease of the CoH UI, but it's not happening as I want. Can you tell me if you have any plans to change the UI so hassle is significantly reduced? I'd really appreciate this---especially for mouse look, mouse move and so forth.


Lag/Bugs/Quirks: ok, I've done an upgrade on my machine and video card and I'm still seeing massive lag and graphic freezes in certain areas and at certain times. All my graphics options are set low (still look nice, btw). I'm still seeing some of the same bugs I saw months and even a year ago. Not really sure what can be done about this, but just thought it needed pointing out. One major bug I still note is in the Songs you can play or listen to: bad timing. It gives me a headache to listen to a song that perpetually sounds as if it's starting over every fourth measure---this is really annoying and I hoped would be fixed by now. In the past, I haven't gotten any kind of Dev response on this issue though I do remember discussing it on the Musician bboard with the Correspondant (months ago). Can something please be done?


Still seeng items for sale that do not reveal whether I can wear them or not (Trandoshan) until after I purchase them and try to do so. BTW, note a bug in this too: when I try to put on something I can't wear, the game informs me: An unknown error occured during a container transfer. ??? That's new for me, at least.


Combat: now I realize your combat revamp system isn't fully online yet (right? or did I miss this?) but I'm still seeing 'failed' animations---periods where it looks like my character and enemy are standing there while damage seeps away. This might simply be lag or graphic freezes. Btw, I do have 512 ddr ram and 256 mb geforce 5 card. If my specs are requested, I can provide.


Ok, enough specifics or I'll end up spamming. Just, generally, I'd like to note that I really dislike having to take creature killing/lair destroying missions. Really dislike. This has got to be the number one reason why this game never, ever felt like Star Wars to me and I wonder and hope that the Space Exp (JTL) will fix this once and for all. I'm going to persue a career in piloting or space-crafting somehow. I'll check out the thread on this topic for details, of course. Anyway, please please do something about this. I'd pay good money and even bad money if you completely removed hunting/lair missions from the general mission terminal and came up with a more appropriate Star Wars type missions. Sure, leave the hunt missions for Scouts and so forth---that's what they are supposed to do.

Okay, just some things that totally burn me about this game I have to get off my chest. First off....feedback.



It's nearly impossible to actually give feedback in this game. There's not even a message board catagory. I couldn't find this on the message boards, I had to use Google. Come on...if you're not going to give us an in game way of giving feedback, it should at least have its own dang catagory.


Personally, I would prefer /feedback provided it doesn't just 86 like Eq's does.



Next and most importantly, the thing that has been absolutely annoying the heck out of me is what's happened to customer service. I have been subscribed to this game since the first week of conception. To find myself being forced to do a 'knowledge base search' every single time I have a bug is absolutely demeaning. It's one thing to do this to new players to cut down tickets, but to do it to your entire customer base is stupid...it's basically telling your loyal customers that we're all idiots who've never been in game before.



I know what a bug is. A long term customer should NOT be forced to be treated like a newb, that's just insulting and degrading and you seriously need to fix that. I come in already irritated about a bug, the LAST thing you want to do is to further tick off your customers by making them do a "are you sure you equiped your weapon" check.


Please please don't treat us like idiots. That won't do anything but lose you customers and in a world where there's a new game out any week, it's totally bad business not to mention bad customer service.

So it fair to say since ive been playing since the game start (check out my records SOE my account been here since EQ started still the same account too), and every revamp ive seem has been bugged or not working. So we wait til the next patch to see if they fix it and all we get is DRIOD ENGINEER REVAMP "OH MY GOD "!!! the new favor of the month comes out and all the prevamped profession get lost in the endless Black Hole of Bugs.So i wrote to this to see if it even makes a differents . for those players reading this plz post other bugs or problem with the prevamped professions on here so they can see where to direct there attention. lets face it SWG is going down the drain because of lack of attention giving to theses bugs and prerevamps..




The problem we face now is the Revamps. Why lets take a look at all the revamps and there problems


Politician

Problems

Mayor have no control of the city but place nice gardens.

City warn disbable

Mayors cant resign from office

Master title give No City specialization


Ideas

1.Give mayors the ability to evict Player house form the city give them 2weeks to redeed there house form the city ,or have there houses destory.(This will weed out the citizens that are not active or causing a problem in the city).

2. Milita customizing. Let the mayor customize the milita and choose what abilities they can have in the city. like giving zoning rights or banning ,pardon ,place gardens, etc.

3.City warn. Able the city warn and make it a Master politician skill.Because city warn is a must . mayor should have the abillity to defend there city or attack unwanted player causing problems in the city.

4. Master City specialization should be giving back to city that player work hard to get or make it a opinion that only a metropolis city can have so u need two requirements master politician and Level 5 city (metropolis).

No matter what armor layer 1 thur 6 level.the result is the same its some kind of bug .(this bug been there since the revamp)

Conversion. lack of information that caused afew jedi who worked for months on leveling the jedi only to have skill that were bugged or not working like Force speed and force healing that doesnt give ANY exp plus SO much for different types of Jedi . All jedi must have a lightsaber in order to gain good exp or even do some kind of damge. So basicly my dream of become the emperor just using force lighting to kill my enemy want down south.

Give the (1 year player that been thur all the screw up but still plays this game one more chance .since now we know what works, to redo there jedi's.

Equiping a lightsaber or wearing the robe will cause a TEF.When in a city.Or let us wear cloak to cover the jedi robes.
