I would like to request that an official forum board be created for each species, and a correspondent be recruited for each.

There are a lot of people who are trying to flesh out the character and nature of their species (well, maybe less so humans?), but sometimes information and ideas are hard to find.

These would be at the same level as the profession boards, and structured the same way.

Thanks!

Calandryll,

Thank you for a very positive and straight-forward post.

I may not agree with everything you said, or your stance on every issue, but just the fact that you would give your position makes it much easier to live with. If the SWG team can continue doing just that little bit without a lot of abiguity, I would be more than satisfied.

Cheers.

Well, this is a game for the whole family and ifpeople respect that factthey wouldn't get banned. And there have been MANY bannings for duping and exploiting, so... Be respectful of others and follow the rules and you won't get banned. (Cursing is not going to stop somebody from exploiting or duping either)

Unfortunately, putting the Core Systems forum in the main section of the boards would lead to the same problem as opening a General Discussion forum. At the same time, we certainly don't want to make it difficult for players to find where to post.

=====================================================

This is not true. There is a General Discussion forum. Almost every post that starts with "I do not know where to post this" ends up in the Player Guides forum. Why? Becasue it it the first forum on the main page.

They have a topic, see the first set of forums, dont figure it has anything to do with a Galaxy, a Profession, or a Galaxy Trade so they post in the Player Guides. If this was Core Systems, then you would not have all these off topic posts in the Games Guides forum.

Hello.

Nice to see a interesting post with consistant feedback from SOE

I must voice my concerns about pretty much everything you have said.I do expect that a better format can be created for the forums.Which hopefully will address current gaps and make things around here alot more constructive.

I do however without wanting to sound "off topic" have concerns. The forums are not what countless thousands of players pay you money each month to play. The Post which you made is excellent Calandry and im sure you will do everything within your powers to ensure the forums become a nicer place. However the forums would be alot easier for SOE to manage if the game was given the extra attention it surely needs. Im surprised that people have not mentioned it before in this thread. People come to the forums to use the features directly linked with the game ie galaxy, trade forums among others.

They come at the moment in greater numbers each day or week to voice there concerns and ideas in hope that SOE will listen and improve the game we all pay subscriptions to play.

I mean this most repectfully, but ask yourself when you sit down with whomever you work with to discuss the forum issue. Do you think the players who pay for this game would sooner have the subscriptions pay your wages? or would they sooner have it pay for X amount of persons who actually can add content and fix bugs?.

I Think Sir that you should request a move or promotion or wotever it takes to allow you to express your obvious Enthusiasm on the thing which all the forums users really care most about! The game itself!

People in customer services and relations across every industry in the world seem not to understand one simple thing. Ifyour customers are happy you get all day to drink tea and coffee. You dont have to work!

Consider this also. When you buy a Car or a Computer gameor anything do you spend your money on the item withFeedback and Excellent forumsor the item with great performance, reliablity and all round good worksmanship.

Fix the forums and make them however you want but do it fast and dont think that will make the subscribers happy they wouldnt be here if they were happy. They would be playing Star Wars Galaxies!.

I'm sure you understand that a great number of us feel like we have heard much of this before, that you all are making steps to make things better and nothing comes of it. And now the clamping down of Moderation on the boards is seen as suspect as you all wanting to rid the boards of the negative voices that seem to be growing in number. Now understand thatI don't believe this is indeed your intent, but that is none the less how it is being viewed and the above posts are quite the testimate to that.

TheCahill makes a good point that CSRs both in game and out of game have done little to improve the view of the 'SOE' experience both in and out of game. Personally I do everything in my power to keep my posts (both positive and negative) on a civil and level headed tone. I understand that not everyone has the same ability or do not care to employ it in their own posts and many of these measures are leveled because of them. Simply put - tread carefully and let your actions speak rather than the words that have become all but hollow promises to date.

I appriciate your communication and the straight forward prose that it has brought to the boards. I know that it will anger and upset some, as they see it as the voice of the 'SOE' that has failed them before. Personally I will attempt to keep an open mind to all incoming Red Names and finding the ability to give existing ones one last second chance.

-This is actually the part of this post I wanted to respond to the most. Before I do, let me quote some parts of the original post. “That doesn’t mean you can’t post constructive criticism”, “To be clear, NOBODY is going to get a mark just for writing criticisms or posting negative feedback.”, “Understand that we are not out to “get” anyone.”, “We WANT your constructive feedback, positive or negative…”.

This is in no way a desire on our part to stop players from posting feedback. This policy is not about stifling player comments. It’s about making sure the boards remain civil and making it easier to find that feedback. It is possible for someone to post negative feedback in a constructive manner and that’s all we’re asking. Keeping the boards civil and constructive will make them a better tool for gathering feedback which benefits everyone involved.

I understand peoples' reservations about this, I truly do. But, we aren’t monsters looking for any excuse to ban people. Personally I never enjoy marking someone’s account or banning them from the forums. But it is a necessary component of running a service because even a small number of "bad" posters can make it very difficult for the majority of people here to get their ideas and concerns heard. That said, we also understand that sometimes an otherwise “good” poster might lose his/her cool and post something they otherwise normally wouldn’t. That person might get a warning, but it would not be our intent for someone like that to get a mark on their account in that case unless it was way over the line. Account marks are normally going to be reserved for excessive repeated offenses and/or posts with exceptionally inappropriate content (such as racial slurs).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I rarely will ever make posts like this. And I am not refering to the majority of the "SOE is **insert forum spoofing explitive**" comments. But in the past your first highlighted comment has been used to preform the second highlighted comment from time to time. I know you want to change this (I hope) but please understands what we have endured communication wise in the past. Just to pick an example I was vocal on these boards about, the Rebel theme park. We had many very civil, very well written post deleted (as the rebel theme park was not finished it is apparent, or set active in live at launch). Until we had shoved, kicked and screamed we never got any acknowldgement of a problem even exsisting. ONLY after some player posters went postal on the forums (with some forum suspensions) did the problem even get a glimmer from SOE staff.

I can make a case for some of the "in bad taste posting" to be a result of months of trying to get a bug/problem comfirmed with no answer. Now things seem to be better now or at least moving in the right direction. But we did do a year of it. Sometimesits hard to let that go....

Just my thoughts. Welcome, glad to have to have you on board, and good luck

We have NO FAITH in the CSR's as they have proved time and time again they know nothing about this game.

I reported someone for using a KNOWN exploit even sent them a URL link toTH stating it WAS an exploit and they do nothing about it. And you want us to trust the CSR's in India who have no clue how to play the game?

Heck we even had a head CSR come to the messageboards and call the playerbase a bunch of whiners in response to a thread that Tiggs had going about BAD cuntomer service and closing tickets without them being resolved.

Damn your style tags!!! Trying to quote... "I understand people's reservations about this, I truly do. But, we aren't monsters looking for any excuse to ban people."

I am thinking the main concern people have is not that they will be banned. I think people are more worried about what is starting to be talked about a bit more than usual...negative (but not, inflammatory, inciteful, etc.) posts being deleted. People are not afraid of marks or warnings...they are worried that they will post a thread staing "I believe X, Y and Z can be improved by..."and it gets deleted to hide what currently stinks in-game.

I, for one, have no problem with these forums, nor how they are moderated. You want to see tyrannical forums, buy an Alienware system. Anyone who has one should know what I am talking about there. Now those forums are evil.

a lot of anxiety comes from first perosn interactions with CSR. months ago one of my accounts was accused of credit duping i wont go into details but after going through email after email and getting the "if this is pursued any firther your account will be banned permanently" email which is a VERY VERY rude missive to recieve when trying to correspond with those in charge to get something more than a form letter. fortunately i ignored that email and pursued the issue until the CSR in charge became involved and a full investigation of the actual logs was reviewed and my account was cleared of any wrong doing and the bad people were taken care of.

the gist of it was that the CSR form letter we got was about as unwarranted a thing as can be imagined.i hadno information of why or what had occured and had no way to defend that account since i didnt even know at the time why it was banned. trying to get that info almost got my Barb account banned. thats the thngs we as players see and why we have such huge fear of such things. i went through nearly a month of hell trying to find the reason for the banning and then 3 days later after a full review i was found by bruce to be clear of wrong doing.

so if you want to to know what your up against i think you should investigate the process of banning an account. we as players get NO information just a generic form letter and if we try to defend ourselves we get further threats. only pressing the point in direst terms and actually trying to make phone calls got my issue resolved i ahd to go WAAAAY outside the normal channels to have my case heard. and i know im not the only one.

WHAT?? This must be a NEW policy. There have been a LARGE number of threads in the Commando forum in which NEGATIVE feedback was being presented and discussed in a civil manner that have been deleted. These threads generally were about broken promises by devs and when a fix might some day occur.
