Thread: Community Relations Follow-up
Well, this is a game for the whole family and ifpeople respect that factthey wouldn't get banned. And there have been MANY bannings for duping and exploiting, so... Be respectful of others and follow the rules and you won't get banned. (Cursing is not going to stop somebody from exploiting or duping either)

i'm not the out-spoken type, but sorry, cursing is FAR FAR less disruptive and damaging to this game than the duping and exploiting, the bugs....if they can be called that after a year and a half.

I'm sure you understand that a great number of us feel like we have heard much of this before, that you all are making steps to make things better and nothing comes of it. And now the clamping down of Moderation on the boards is seen as suspect as you all wanting to rid the boards of the negative voices that seem to be growing in number. Now understand thatI don't believe this is indeed your intent, but that is none the less how it is being viewed and the above posts are quite the testimate to that.
TheCahill makes a good point that CSRs both in game and out of game have done little to improve the view of the 'SOE' experience both in and out of game. Personally I do everything in my power to keep my posts (both positive and negative) on a civil and level headed tone. I understand that not everyone has the same ability or do not care to employ it in their own posts and many of these measures are leveled because of them. Simply put - tread carefully and let your actions speak rather than the words that have become all but hollow promises to date.
I appriciate your communication and the straight forward prose that it has brought to the boards. I know that it will anger and upset some, as they see it as the voice of the 'SOE' that has failed them before. Personally I will attempt to keep an open mind to all incoming Red Names and finding the ability to give existing ones one last second chance.

-This is actually the part of this post I wanted to respond to the most. Before I do, let me quote some parts of the original post. “That doesn’t mean you can’t post constructive criticism”, “To be clear, NOBODY is going to get a mark just for writing criticisms or posting negative feedback.”, “Understand that we are not out to “get” anyone.”, “We WANT your constructive feedback, positive or negative…”.
This is in no way a desire on our part to stop players from posting feedback. This policy is not about stifling player comments. It’s about making sure the boards remain civil and making it easier to find that feedback. It is possible for someone to post negative feedback in a constructive manner and that’s all we’re asking. Keeping the boards civil and constructive will make them a better tool for gathering feedback which benefits everyone involved.
I understand peoples' reservations about this, I truly do. But, we aren’t monsters looking for any excuse to ban people. Personally I never enjoy marking someone’s account or banning them from the forums. But it is a necessary component of running a service because even a small number of "bad" posters can make it very difficult for the majority of people here to get their ideas and concerns heard. That said, we also understand that sometimes an otherwise “good” poster might lose his/her cool and post something they otherwise normally wouldn’t. That person might get a warning, but it would not be our intent for someone like that to get a mark on their account in that case unless it was way over the line. Account marks are normally going to be reserved for excessive repeated offenses and/or posts with exceptionally inappropriate content (such as racial slurs).

I rarely will ever make posts like this. And I am not refering to the majority of the "SOE is **insert forum spoofing explitive**" comments. But in the past your first highlighted comment has been used to preform the second highlighted comment from time to time. I know you want to change this (I hope) but please understands what we have endured communication wise in the past. Just to pick an example I was vocal on these boards about, the Rebel theme park. We had many very civil, very well written post deleted (as the rebel theme park was not finished it is apparent, or set active in live at launch). Until we had shoved, kicked and screamed we never got any acknowldgement of a problem even exsisting. ONLY after some player posters went postal on the forums (with some forum suspensions) did the problem even get a glimmer from SOE staff.
I can make a case for some of the "in bad taste posting" to be a result of months of trying to get a bug/problem comfirmed with no answer. Now things seem to be better now or at least moving in the right direction. But we did do a year of it. Sometimesits hard to let that go....
Just my thoughts. Welcome, glad to have to have you on board, and good luck
5-Stars and a QFE. I completely agree

Damn your style tags!!! Trying to quote... "I understand people's reservations about this, I truly do. But, we aren't monsters looking for any excuse to ban people."
I am thinking the main concern people have is not that they will be banned. I think people are more worried about what is starting to be talked about a bit more than usual...negative (but not, inflammatory, inciteful, etc.) posts being deleted. People are not afraid of marks or warnings...they are worried that they will post a thread staing "I believe X, Y and Z can be improved by..."and it gets deleted to hide what currently stinks in-game.
I, for one, have no problem with these forums, nor how they are moderated. You want to see tyrannical forums, buy an Alienware system. Anyone who has one should know what I am talking about there. Now those forums are evil.
