Why dont you first worry about those people abusing the system as it currently stands. Covert players walking around with faction perks like pets out and being safe from attack.

I like it... a few things i see tho that could be a problem. People could just declare overt coming out of the cloners (the original reason we didnt afterword anyway) not a big problem, but maybe if you made it so you coudlnt declare Overt for 5mins after death that would be good.

Also might as well have a /declareCovert option too with teh same range.

Otherwise i dont really see any problem, i lvoe the idea. I hate using the conver menu to declare.

I like the idea of getting rid of revenge tef, and being able to go overt at any time. Here's how to avoid peopledying, and redeclaring fresh out of the clonecenter for endless battles:if you are overt (or temp overt) and die withinan enemy held city, you are *denied* the use of the local clonecenter.Instead, you have to reappear in another city that is either held by your faction, orat least one where you haven't blown your cover.

Also, I thinkcities should have astronger presence of faction npcs.People would think twice about staging an ambushright in Bestine,if there was an ATST around every corner.Same thing should go for Anchorhead, there should be lots ofrebel troopers standing around. The recruiters could also keep summoning reinforcements if they see the city is under attack. That would make cities saferfor overts, while the GCW would rage on in surrounding areas.

I like the idea of high ranking officials making people overt. But I hate the idea of going overt anytime. You think the Revenge RTEF is bad. This will be just as bad. Never ending battles. If there is a timer on it, then that's fine. Maybe 5 mins to declare anywhere. On the other hand, a highranking official would automatically make you overt (no time lag necessary).

How about people spawning as overt with a time buffer before they can participate in any PvP. Then artisans and the like can just go become covert at therecruiter. I know the non-combat classes may not think much of the idea but it's way better than getting TEF'd for hours. It also eliminates the hassle of having to go to a recruiter to declare.

Most of the people responding to this thread don't seem to realise what Holocron is talking about.

I understand him to meanfaction-purchased HQs where youcan respawn overt instead of covert. I haven't seen a working example of this yet because the HQs are still bugged in various ways on the live servers, so he may be talking about something that only works on internal servers. But I think he means that the enemy can spawn-camp in those HQs so they are thinking of making you spawn covert in those HQsand be able to go overt when it suits you.

He is talking about recruiters in general.

Just give the option of staying Overt when you die.

That would reduce a lot of the Revenge TEF griefing, because you would be attackable right away.

Also, if you're getting clone camped - It's by you're own choice, and you can always chose to go back Covert.

My view on this, is if you are overt, your overt. Only overts can attack other overts, so why not allow them to become overt at anytime? Ambush or not, if you are overt and another overt fighting crew happens upon you, your in for a fight if you like it or not. Mainly if you are already overt, you are wanting PVP action. I dont know of any reasons why you would be overt if you wern't wanting that.

What is the difference between 20m and 50m. It should be within targetable range, but not within firing distance of any weapon

Holo, there is a fundamental problem with the current declaring process. The problem is that there is not a Recruiter for each side in every city. Because of this, certain cities are PvP central, and others are not. The difficulty arises when someone wishes to travel to an opposing city while Overt. Due to loading times, it is suicide to fly into a Shuttleport or Starport while declared. If you ever wondered why Bestine and Anchorhead are such a hotspot for PvP, it is because they are withinwalking distance, and participants in the GCW can initiate a surprise attack by assaulting from an unexpected direction.

My suggestion is this:

Allow any playerto declare his or her faction affiliation while in aCAMP orHOUSE controlled by a member of their faction that is more than 1000m from aCITY or Opposing faction base.

Most people additionally suggesta delay between declaring and when you go covert, and I am in favor of this, though I suggest it be only a 1 to 5 minute timer. If the timer is one minute, then a group could not infiltrate an enemy city covert, then all become overt at the same time.

This simple plan takes PvP away from cities, but does not require a faction installation to make it possible to declare. If a player declares and then invades a city, he must run back out to 1000m to re-declare if he dies. This encourages group tactics, and makes it impossible to stake-out the recruiter as you have suggested. Moreover, an entire group can safely fly into a city, then go outside the city to declare, so PvP will no be centralized around a select few cities chosen by the Devs during beta.

If you do not like my idea, at least do something about getting attacked while Loading at a StarPort, and take a look at how hard it is to find a Recruiter in most cities.

Thank you,

I'm going to say this once, and once only:

This is a company, one that is out to make money, so banning people who hadn't done anything wrong would be really dumb since it would mean that we would be losing money. So before you just believe someone who says they are being wrongfully punished take a moment and reflect.

Also, ranting/flaming and attacking customer service isn't going to fly on these boards so any further posts about it will result in the suspension of that person's forum account.

How about just make everyone overt to begin with, and make trades to neutral parties possible. I think this is the way it was suppose to be in the GCW. Imps really shouldnt be buying items off of rebels and vis versa, but i do see how imps/rebels can but stuff off of neutrals. Also if everyone is gonna be overt u should make a certain time that u cant attack/be attacked while loading at shuttleports. As for the recruiters, u should go to them to be covert not overt

covert/overt just needs to go.....it is one of the biggest problems with pvp and the GCW.....

it really means nothing either....basically if someone is blue instead of purple i instantly know they are a covert rebel.....

and like someone said earlier...if i see a battle staring i dont want to have to find a recruiter if i am covert..i want to be able to just join in the fight and defend my comrades....

how about if you shoot a member of the opposite faction, you immediatly get a TEF from everyone of that faction, be they overt or covert....

exp: Rebels come out of the starport and bestine and gun down an innocent droid engineer at the bazaar....instantly the 25 covert imps standing around can take action....most people just seem to ignore the battles....gernades and rocketsare going off right in front of them and peopel just stand their shout the waypoint to their little shop 2000km away.
