tsk tsk...
Looks like everyone will have to become Jedi inorder to compete in PvP since no one will be resistant to lighsaber damage. Thanks for reducing the number of viable classes for PvP to one.
If they haven't yet, bet your bottom dollar a 'cortosis weave' armor layer will also be implemented so you CAN have lightsaber resistant armor if you're inclined to go the extra mile, and deal with the extra encumberance (much like many of us opt to do with stun layers, to prevent the current whooping fencers and and the like with stun weapons can lay down).
It sounds like the latter. Must say that's hugely disappointing since the answer to 'what if I don't like race A' has always been 'you can always restart'... still true, but worlds more consequences.

Stormcrow touched on part of my subject here.
It's Stormkrow with a K.
Thank you.
well i know im going to look forward to this system and pub10, im no hardcore gamer but i can play lots of hours during night on weekends. I just hope the devs dont take these lots of whining and push the jedi publish´s back or delay em, the summer is the perfect time to develop it..
Good Luck devs!

well i think they do because to become a jedi master you cant have distractions like are the cookies ready?
yes i do think that we will be over ran with jedi all i have to say about this is MAKE THE QUEST UBER DIFFICULT!!! /agree 100%
Ok Kapen. OMG ROFLMAO. when i read the cookie part, i almost fell off my chair.
seriously though, i do agree with the overrun with jedi part. i think this will occur in 1-3 months after pub 10. but i don't agree with your main char having to go jedi with no choice. there are a ton of reasons. Some may sound flimsy, but most are sound. read through the thread again.
if this was the way we were supposed to get jedi from the beginning, then no problem. but the fact is it wasn't.
what would really work is if they put in a filter that looked for your sign up date and applied jedi quests to only new accounts and allowed old accounts to continue as is.
better chance of seeing a snow flake on the equator.
I agree that the game as a whole will get better due to the quests. At least for me that's not a question.
It's simply a matter of this should not go into effect for older players that have lived under a different system. A system that allowed us almost a year of developing a different kind of character. We should be allowed to finish that path as intended or get hefty credit for the time spent and professions mastered. This is about time and effort spent. I still don't agree with the easy road thinking, at least for me.
In addition, I think an equitable solution would be to allow only those that have a sign up date prior to Pub 10, have a choice as to which character to go FS.
That would probably solve this in one shot.
From what I understand it is not the devs intention to make becomming a Jedi any easier. It will still take massive amounts of time to "grind" to Jedi. It just won't be professions, but quests. What form these quests will take or how many we must do is not known. It is clear to me they will take as much or more time to complete as doing professions. For those "casual" type gamers that were upset that doing so many professions was nearly impossible and took too much time, I'm afraid the new system will hold no solutions.
Many people have said that hologrinding has ruined the game. Perhaps it has. A great many people will spend massive amounts of time doing things they don't enjoy to get a reward they want. SWG was supposed to be different, but it is clear to me the devs keep treading down the same road as many other MMORPG's have gone down. This is perhaps the most disapointing to me because they could learn from years of experience of other devs what works and what doesn't.
I play these games because I want the Journey to be fun, not because I spend so many hours doing boring repetative tasks to achieve something that the devs want to make rare. If you want something rare, then don't put it in. Otherwise make what players do in game enjoyable.
All players will have to use their main as their Jedi.
All players will be able to use their 2nd slot as their Jedi w/o being forced to do twice the amount of work as current Jedi.
