Thread: Bounty Hunter changes...
First off this is meant to be a constructive discussion, doesnt anyone have any ideas of how thw BH profession could be improved?
One of the most common complaints (seems to me) seems to be that to become MBH requires the most skill points of any profession in game. This should mean that BHs should be able to compete with another template built with roughly the same skill points. I believe a solution for this would be to change the BH profession in much the same way as the recent CH changes.
Accuracy and speed skills for Bh seem to be low (well thats what people say). To increase these skills so as BHs could compete with Pistoleer/Smuggler would be unfair as BH is not specialised and those two professions are. The answer would seem to be to make the BH more specialised. The profession would be like this.
Completely drop the carbine tree!
The first two trees would be LLC, 1 for speed, 1 for accuracy and specials for the second and fourth boxes accordingly.
The other 2 trees would be the same except for pistol skills.
The mission difficulty and droid speed etc would be evenly spread between the trees.
At master there would be a final increase in speed/accuracy for both weapons and maybe a new special for each. Also slightly better droid skills.
To enable the BH to compete more in PvP (which it SHOULD be one of the best classes for) the total speed and accuracy for the two weapons should be higher than it is now. This increased skill would come at the cost of generalisation.
Just my 2 cr.
Man, someone free willy from this post!.....
Alright, it was bad, but so was his trolling....
I'm MBH and have been for some time now, i've seen the nerf bat swing and cringed each time. BH need combat defenses, if the Devs would allow us self heal or med use 5 for investigation 4 then we could devote enough points to another classes defense line. Not the best solution perhaps but if we can't have our own reaslistic defenses then we need the points so we can dabble in the other professions.
Changes to xp and money are good starts. I am curious though. would it help the proffession to make it difficult to master?
A little on traps. If we hunt People. why can't we make "People Traps"? PvP would perk up for the class alot. It would need to come from a high end part of one of the trees. maybe even make it a MBH ability only.
On the LC. if a commando's FL D.O.T. flame damage, perhaps the LC should just have a higher wound ability? getting nailed by .21 gigga aut to screw a brother up!
I know some of these ideas might make the BH a little too powerful. Finding the balance in a MMoRPG is the most difficult peice of good communication between PC's and the God's, I mean Dev's.
I just reached Master BHer right b4 new years. I waited for the credit, xp boost, player cities, and mounts/vehicels b4i leveled the investigation tree above 0. I alrdy had enuff xp for lvl2 and was 0/4/4/4 when the changes went in and with all the borked bounties it took me a week to get those last 2 investigation boxes filled. For the skill point cost to master bher i think that it should the hardest (next to jedi) profession to master. i was getting around 450xp for lvl3 inv bounties and 30k credits. now i know if i say lower xp ppl will start loseing hair, sleep, temper but anyway here goes nothing....
Have bounties pay 100xp per investigation skill box filled: novice bh=100 1=200 2=300 3=400 master=500(not that it matters ur a master!) and have bounties pay 1000x's the mission difficulty lvl35 bounty=35,000 credits and jedibounties pay 10,000x's mission difficulty a lvl75 Jedi bounty=750,000. Bounty hunting is suppouse to be a lucritave bussiness. Restore us our pvp power that we rightfully should have. ONLY jedi should have an advantage over us from profession skills all other professionsshould have to rely on PLAYER SKILL to beat us1 on 1 in a duel/pvp. Now im not tring to say that bounty hunters should always win pvp but within the confines of a 1 on 1 duel it should be almost impossible to beat a bh. We are after all elite professional PEOPLE killers. we hunt the BIGGEST GAME there is to hunt PEOPLE. I like the idea of armor certifcations that i have seen elsewhere in the fourms. Only elite combat professions should be able to wear composite armor w/o some kind of negative modifer enuff said. so what if you cant check uryavin 4or dathmir harvesters w/o armed escourt ur a Dr. for crying out loud buy a bodyguard to escourt you. then i'd have something else to do than bounties or missions for cash. Hell for a steady supply of buffs on demand i'd give discounts for harvester escourt runs.
The idea of moving bh from scout to brawler sounds good but i dont see y we'd need the 1,2-handed weapon or pike skill trees. I think that this would make a little more sense:
Master Marksman
Brawler: Unarmed 1-4
Scout: Exploration1-4, Trapping 1-4, Hunting 1-4
Master Bounty Hunter.
It would cost 220 skill points total but that onlyreinforces how much skill it takes to be a bounty hunter(not to mention detacation). As this set up costs more skill point there will have to be a better payoff at master bounty hunter like: better skill mods/weapon specials, bounty hunter only carbine, New master level only guns for all elite professions or master versions of existing weapons that u have to be a master to use and can only be made by master weaponsmiths(you know a scatter pistol w/o training wheels), maybe the bounty payouts outlined above could be a master lvl perk or even higher payouts like 2,000/20,000x's mission difficulty. How about 3 seperate bounty lists on the term like dead, alive, dead or alive. Dead or alive missions could be depend on how the conversation goes say the wrong thing and the mark attacks you or say the right thing it goes quitely. There is SO much room for improvrment here not to mention all the bug fixes *cough* TRACKING SPEED *cough* that still need to be addressed. I started in late Aug. and just got to master and dont plan on giving it up anytime soon. All i wanted to play was a bounty hunter and maybe just MAYBE hopefully thur time, effort, luck, and skilled play unlock a fscs and have a jedi also but not if i have to "hologrind" away my 1 and only Star Wars dream but thats a WHOLE other rant.
You can please some of the ppl all the time and you can please all of the pll some of the time but you'll never be able to please all the ppl all the time. Keep up the good work guys we've got a great game here and with the "allstar" dev team behind it and a great community, it canand should only get better.

These are some great ideas guys.I was going to say a bunch but it seems that all of the good ideas are out there. I just hope the devs are listening...

The problem is, every proffession keeps getting mad that there broken. I've been on since the 4th day after game launch and remember gettingmy butt wooped by BH's. I was a CH then but got tired of being like everyone else :-) I decided to take the BH roughte after everything else got beefed up (This was when I was doing pistoleer and CH and pistoleer was boring and wimpy then) I'm still doing the BH roughte but would certainly like to see it averaged out with most other combat professions. Jedi should be the only ones that should e uber powerful though only because they got stuck with 3 lives.
I think the only way to get the professions more balanced is for the dev's to start duking it out in pvp against one another to balance everything. Then slowly, I stress slowly beef what professions should be a little stronger than others.
