I was thinking about the aspect of having "profession specific quests", and thought about something that may just add alot to profession advancement and take away from the standard grind that SWG is trying to shy away from.

With the skill boxessetup the way they are in each profession. Make it so that rather than just grind xp to get to the next box, have it so once you get the necessary xp for that box in order to advance to the next skill box you have to complete a profession specific quest. This would engage each player in a series of story driven profession specific quests and add to the immersion forSWG. Once completed you are then trained in that skill and advanced to the next box. They coulddo this for each box all the way up the skill tree until you get to the master level. They could then do a, "Master quest" at the end that they have to complete in order to gain the title of master for that profession. This "Master Quest" could be the ultimate tie in for all the previous quests done to give an ultimate feel of accomplishing the mastery of that profession. It has the potential to pull players away from the standard grind and engage in more diverse activities and immerse themselves more into the game.

What do you think about this as a system they could implement for profession revamps?

(not sure if this has been stated before but it seems like a good idea):smileywink

Just reading through the transcript from the Fan Fest at

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=jedi&message.id=386662

Q: Visibility

A: Visibility numbers are being tweaked. Ultimately, the thing about visibility: It's meant to reflect not just someone telling on you, but rumors. The emperor and vader are actively hunting down all force users. They're the ones putting bounties on you. They don't care if you're dark or light, they want you all dead. If you're with a group of friends, people will talk, they don't mean to, but things will get overheard, it just happens and the BH mission will be triggered. Unless you're completely by yourself, in the dark, there's no total safety.

How about any player who sees a jedi can 'tag' him, through a radial menu perhaps, then recieve a special waypoint. This can then be dragged onto a bh terminal to upload the waypoint, where BH's can go to the waypoint to track them down through social interaction "e.g. did you see which way so and so was headed from here" or the normal droid tracking method. Then it really would be players acting as informants and the whole 'rumour' aspect would come to light.

An Idea for new prof. And yes they should fix all the existing prof before thinking about any other profs. But as the title says an IDEA. Anyway on with the idea.

A Farmer. It could be a mix for artisan, scout and maybe . A farmer would be able to tame only certain animals which he could domesticate. He would them be able to harvest Meat, Bones and Hide (depending on the animal), but the the amount of resources which he could harvest would be dependent on wat food they were fed, living conditions ect… So the fatter the animal and more healthy it was the more resources u could harvest.

So why not just choose scout u say, well the reason is that farmers get more Meat, bone and hide from the animals and there stats would depend on the food ect as outlined above.

Where does artisan come in to the equation? U could make the food and housing for the animals. But as not to put Artisans and archies out of business they would need things from them i.e. Dough from artisans and some stuff from archies (I have no idea wat sub components an archy can make). So only farmers would be able to make the finished product for food and houses. And u could also have BE components for the food to make them that bit better.

This could open up a new (well not entirely new) market niche for Food, bone and Hide.

The skill tree could be as follows:

  • Could be a mix between the business and dom arts tree for Artisan.

  • A farming tree which the exp could come from well farming and this would open up new building which u could make for your animals to get even better resources from them.

  • Something like the creature taming tree

  • And umm…. Summin else. *shrug* Any way these r my idea’s about a new prof.

All comments r welcome good or bad. But pls be good

Right this might be an idea:

Do a huge City Revamp!

Why?

Simple, its all the same and most cities are dead empty,

Make it possible for architects to craft more types of houses, structures, benches (like the ones in doaba guerfell are) etc. To make a city look more like a city. Make it possible for pavements like in coronet etc. (except for tatooine like planets cuz thats a poor peeps planet.

Make it possible to lower land or upper land within your city paremitters. Not to much but maybe that u don't have 2 many hils in your city.

Make LIVE NPC's in the game (this would be great for the jedi revamp 2)

That you have like bilions of NPC's with quest who walk around. Stay @ a location for a few hours and move to the next location. Make em visit player cities and player cantina's. If there is a rebel city bring in COVERT rebel NPC's. Same as in real reb cities. bring in those Covert NPC's. OVERT Recruiters should only be around bases to be honest. The rest should all be Covert. Thats the rebel way....

Then for the jedi. Make like 20 NPC's who will let you start the quest. But select @ random for everyplayer which NPC will start their quest. And let those 20 NPC's be live NPC's so that u never are 100% sure where 2 find it. But with some hints u might find it. (Like the Yavin Labor outpost guy who says for power stronger then the empire go to this temple. Which leads u to the exar kun temple where u can do **edit** unless ur rebel and are far enough in the themepark but still)

This would make Player cities alive more 2.

Make Markets. Here u can place the bazaars. And buy stuff. Spammers can come here to spam for what they buy and sell. If your outside market range u wont hear the spammers. Make it for player cities 2.

Make ORDER terminals. Which u can place in player cities 2. Here a player can place an order for somthing he likes and the amount of it and a discription. (I think all the items should just be in a selectable list. So we can also c what is available in the game). Then someone places an order for Titanium Alluminium. 100K. With discription: High Shock resist plz. Then a nother player who wants to sell an item can go to the bazaar. Or to the order terminal. They look if someone ordered their item and place it in there @ that order for the price their asking. Then the one whom placed the order gets a mail that his order has been completed. He goes to the terminal and sees the item and the price and quality etc. They can accept the item by clicking accept and at that moment they pay for it. If they dont have the cash it will say that they need to get more cash first. An order can stay open for 7 days or sumthing. When they Cancel it they fill in a WHY. Like to expensive. Or bad quality. Then the Owner of the stuff gets a mail. + the why in it and can get his stuff back or sell it for cheaper etc... This would kill a lot of spamming and clear out some places...

Give player cities starports... Especially with this Expansion comming on. Then you can dock your ship @ ur starport. Then make shuttle ports @ level 3 cities and starport @ level 5 cities.. Then if you have more then like 10 smugglers or bounty hunters a mayor and a smuggler our bounty hunter could cowork and make the city a smuggler city. Which would give like starships to ANY planet. But the time b4 one comes will be doubled or sumthing. (which would take care that not everyone does the same).

Give the city hall more floors! and make admin possible! If the mayor wants someone to decorate the city hall its impossible. Make like a ranking system in militia. Like RANK III can only city ban and unban peeps who have been banned by rank III peeps. Rank II can only city ban and unban rank II and lower city banned people and they can grand zoning rights. Rank I is half a mayor. He is auto admin of city hall, can ban unbann everyone, grand zoning rights, but also send emails to all city members etc...

Then @ vendors. Give them admin permissions 2. The owner of the itemgets the cash and the xp. But if i make someone else admin. It would be like a mini bazaar. Then you can let others Sell stuff @ your vendor. But also let a master merchant Do some nice effects to your vendor like give it speech and clothes..

Well i got enuf ideas for a game revamp lol, but lets just start with these Ideas. Remember just ideas! =)

I would like to see something done with the unlocking of containers. How are we to know if i give a locked container to a smuggler and they unlock it and give it back, do they touch any thing thats inside. I think it would be a good idea if a smuggler can make a slice/key that will be usable by anyone in the game. The smuggler would get the xp from making the slice/key as they would if they actually opened the container. This would not however be usable for slicing armor. What do you think??

"Right this might be an idea:

Do a huge City Revamp!"

Exellent Idea!

Right nowI loathe going into big cyties because they are dreadfully dead and this includes MOST player cities.

Make cities smaller, prettier and give players the opportunity to put their Vendors there. Make more vehicle free zones, like not Vehicles in bazaars and near the cantinas and Starports. I hate having Speeders sticking there noses into Cantina doors.

Also, limit the number of Entertainers being able to play in cantinas. This will force them to look for ather venues to emply their art rather then to have them crowd all into Coronet's cantina. murmur, murmur...YES do a city revamp ..it is overdue.

Freedom and life, for me, are the two sides of the same coin.

I have to say I'm all for the release of another planet, (or 10) but I must say that Degobah, would be a BAD planet to release. My reasoning is this. Yoda is hiding there... No one sees any reason to go there (except Luke after Obi-wan tells him to go there)... if Degobah was released then it would be swarming with people... not a very good place to hide if there are hundreds of people there. IMO Degobah, if released, should only be available to people on the path to be jedi...

If you want tough worlds, with all kinds of heavy creatures, then you want Kashyyyk!!! The wookies build their homes in the trees because the forest floor is so dangerous. Wookies who wish to become full warriors must go to the forest floor and hunt and kill some really tough creature.

While I'm on the matter of planets I'm going to again suggest the release of all of the homeworlds for the player races... Kashyyyk, Mon Calamari, Ryloth, Rodia, Iridonia, etc....

Then also release other worlds that are also interesting... such as Kessel, Elrood, and Coyn.

I personally suggest holding off on releasing Hoth for now, at least until planetside flight and vehicle combat are set up and good to go.

Lastly here I'm going to strike down an idea I've seen repeated for the image designer....

Change SPECIES!!!! What kind of an idea is that. No amount of surgery can ever truely be done to change ones species. DNA just doesn't change like that. The only way something like that could be done, would be to have a brain transplant, and most of the time that wouldn't work. Even to have a successful brain transplant from one human to another is sketchy at best, most of the time the body would reject the brain and kill it. Now, if you talking cosmetic surgery, where as only the persons APPEARANCE changes and they are still fundamentally the same species they chose (i.e. they still have the same strengths and weaknesses of the species chosen at generation), then I would be less against the idea. Sex change I can understand and cope with, since it is fully possible in RL now... but species is just too far.

Hi TH, here are some ideas for alternatives to a Musician UI buffing interface - since all the UI programmers are working on JTL (as the Devs have said previously in response to our 5/26 question).

1) When entertainers (dancers or musicians) are buffing, make a little white thingie drop down over the buff recipient's head, similar to how Doctors have that thing appear over their patients' heads while buffing/healing them (make the entertainer one blue, as we're buffing mind, maybe). The benefit of this is two-fold:

a) The entertainer and customer know the buff is being applied. That would be wonderful. No more asking "are you listening? -or- are you watching? "yes" - only to find out they aren't.

b) Potential entertainer buff customers will *see* someone buffing, no more cantina /shout spam of "Are there any entertainers buffing?!?! ANYONE?!?!?! HEELLLLLO!!!?!??!" People will know if an entertainer is buffing.

2) Generate a simple system message that says "Warryyr enhances your Focus and Willpower by 750." to the customer, and to the entertainer "You enhance Customer's Focus and Willpower by 750." Again, the benefit of this is two-fold:

a) The customer knows what has been buffed - no more Musicians needing to /tell everyone "check your stat sheet for your buffs, look for modifiers on Focus/Willpower."

b) The Musician has some kind of knowledge that their buff has been applied. Musicians have no way of knowing whether a buff has been applied or not - we can't see our customer's mind secondaries. We rely on blind faith from our customers to know that our buff worked. If they lie, they get their money back and free buffs. This needs to be rectified. It shouldn't be allowed to happen to an Elite profession.

Thunderheart, the Musician community would really appreciate a response to this request. We've not felt like we've had any attention by the Devs in a long, long time.

Our 5/26 question about a buffing interface was seriously misinterpreted by the Devs (they thought we were talking aboutan interfacefor recipients, we want to have something forour side of the buff so we can have some means of knowing we actually buffed someone. This bares some examination and action, it's an elite profession with a serious flaw. I don't want this flaw taken advantage of to the point where it's so rampant, then and only then, do the Devs decide to look into it. I've already encountered this scam multiple times.

Thank you,

Warryyr

I know this will get ignored/flamed but:

Original SWG was in production for what, 2-3 yrs. with almost a full year of beta? The combat rebalance is going to have just a couple months production with a few weeks beta at the most? Logic seems to be thrown out the window if you expect the rebalance to be better for us than the original combat design. So why do that to us? SOE failed to even apply the 75% pvp dmg reduction to ALL profs some 10 months ago, and has known about it for several months but still nothing has been done. I just can't put any faith in the rebalance when the original still hasn't had all of its bugs fixed and it's been out for 1 yr already!

Alixir... you just solidified why Dagobah is not a good idea.... everyone who went there died.... and to be honest I can't believe that anyone went there before Luke, other than Yoda and the Dark Jedi that when there and died before Yoda went there. Why? Because as a jedi master, Yoda is required to protect the lives of everyone whom he can. A jedi is sworn to protect the lives of others, and may only kill and allow deaths when it is wholey unavoidable. The reason no one else wants to go there is... it's a giant, festering swamp. The risks of harvesting resources on Dagobah out weigh the benefit... I'm willing to accept that it has been seen, scanned, and catalogued by the empire, and deemed worthless. Since sensors do not differentiate between sentient and non-sentient life, no one knew Yoda was there.

So again, I don't think Dagobah is a good planet to release... it will just bring droves of players to the planet to bother Yoda... when all he wants is for everyone to just go away. Further, all of the imperial players will then start forming raiding parties to go kill Yoda... and eventually they will succeed just through sheer numbers. They will just keep brining more until they succeed.

As I said before, if you want planets with hard core creatures, then Kashyyyk is your planet. Kessel is another that wouldn't dissappoint you either... Phase spiders are a tad hard to kill when they keep phasing in and out of existance.

This will probably never happen but it would be the best. How about allowing an insignia for your guild on your armour? I think it would be cool. But i'm sure hard to program to allow it to change.

Kaloman.....books are great. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to but there was scouting expeditions sent to Dagobah. People also travelled there after Yoda died.
