1) Is there an ETA on the new FSCS unlock?
There wont be an unlock - - the whole system is being revamped. Its going to work differently than it does now. I am working on a Jedi revamp article, but it will be a bit of time. I have to finish drafting it and get some peer review on it.
and (later)

Guys - - the FS slot has not been turned off...
So nowI'm not sure ifTH meant that the new FSCS system will make it so that you don't have to UNLOCK it the way you have to right now, or if meant that people should not supposed its turned off (locked) right now. A bit confusing, I'd say.
Grrrr that edit button ain't working in those threads, now I'm pissed, really
Once again, more clearly this time:

The reason you are a caveman meat gatherer is that the game is set up as such.
Sad isn't it?
I totally agree with the aforementioned Outdoorsman proposal, pretty much all of it.
As do most rangers.
I recently ground a alt character of mine through half of Ranger and a little of Rifleman. Creature tracking is amazing. I never knew it was so freaking useful!!!!
Are you secretly a dev who is trying to convince us that it really is worthwhile? LOL. Seriously, it is not worth the skill point expenditure. That is the only thing that IS worthwhile in ranger right unfortunately. None of the other trees are worth a darn.
Rangers get a minimum of 10 cpu for hides on Tempest, many I see sell for 40 cpu.
And the time put into constantly hunting to get that meat is not worth the payout. Most doctors want upwards of 25k of the good stuff. For those of us who can play the game often that is probably not a big deal, but I don't play this game to have a job in game. The one out of game is enough. I like to make my money here and there, and to be honest I can make a heck of a lot more by doing a heck of a lot less. Planting harvs and selling resources is how I make money. Not selling animal hides and meat. I usually give those away to people just to be nice. And I am talking stacks of 5k or more for free. I prefer to spend my time in game just having fun and playing as opposed to making money. People get so up in arms over the price that rangers charge for meat and such, but we spend a lot of time just mindlessly killing creatures to get that meat. It is not a whole heck of a lot of fun. At least in my humble opinion.
The average price for avian meat on Tempest is 50 cpu. I dunno about you but even during the ULTIMATE ARCHITECT MAD RUSH DAYS OF PLAYER CITIES EXPANSIONS (hehe) when my architect literally made 40 million during the expansion I just hung my head at the MULTIPLE people yelling Buying any avian meat at 80 cpu - PST - 100 cpu for OQ 800+.
And you know, if you knew me, I am the LAST person to say that it all equates to money. I really like playing the Ranger profession and am probably going to hold off mastering BE just to try out being a Master Ranger with that character for a while. Cover and the camps STILL intrigue me, thoughts of staying on Endor and Dathormir for weeks at a time intrigue me. All things things I've heard from other Ranger characters. From an economics point of view, though, which is where your post seemed to be heading, Rangers literally can make more per day that ANY character I know save Buff Selling Doctors.
Maybe. If they constantly hunt and do nothing else. Which is why we are nothing more than meat gatherers. You will have to forgive me, but I have been a ranger for a while now and with no light at the end of the tunnel and the only response to the Outdoorsman proposal being apost by TH stating "I have reviewed the proposal and I will bring it up in the next meeting." Now that is not an exact quote, but that was the basics of it. Since then....zip...zero...nadda. Everyone can call vehicles, mounts, and droids from anywhere now. Rangers and scouts are no longer needed for that. One more thing that makes us obsolete. I have been spoiled by the idea of the Outdoorsman proposal and I know that this profession can be so much more than what it is. I want to see it live up to the name Ranger. Right now we are just glorified meat packers.
required stat: 100% UT
UT on the resource? 1000
experimentation needed to reach 100%? 12 points.
that needs to be changed. it should take 10 points to max out any one stat. the extra two points should be allowed to go into another stat line. by not doing this you drive the price of experimentation skill tapes even higher because now they are required to get full quality on a weapon. PLEASE revisit this. it HAS to be a bug you overlooked. to say this was intended would be a slap in the face to every crafter in the game. this would only be balancing if by balance you meant make thousands of crafters quit.
i don't care how popular or how much money Ralph Koster made for UO. this decision is flat out wrong, and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to find a brain.
could we possibly do something to clean up the map screen vendor listings.
its very annoying to me to go to these vendor listings and find empty vendors for players who quit the game with messages on the house sign saying they quit the game, but still have the vendors on the planetary map list.
lets make the vendor registration a bi-weekly or monthly requirement. to unload all the empty or no longer alive players vendors.
bugs bugs bugs,
radar screen targets all showing as yellows until im on top of them then turn red aggro on me.
leaving the starport shuttle bay and walking thru side walls (most often in coronet)
buff timers still showing after character death. (just showsbuff timer not actually still buffed)

If you are a dev and can facitlite this - please send me an email in game if it's done.
you are correct... this is how it SHOULD work... but it doesn't. there are people on test center who have verified that to max out ONE coulumn requires 12 experience points, not 10. if this is false, then those who know different need to post here with verified results. if this is a bug where the system just makes you use all of your points in one column, it needs to be fixed. regardless, something is rotten in the state of SWG...
poisons need a balance. They are too overpowered for larger PvP skirmishes. No mitigation reductions, no PvP damage reduction, no resist reductions apply to them. Pretty powerful stuff for a class that requires the leats amount of combat XP for a combat class.
Man we really need some type of clarification on this whole new jedi system change going on, not so much on the new system itself but what is being done for all of us who have hologrinded up into the 20's or so. When the system goes into effect then we can worry about all the new players and ppl just starting it for the first time, or the ones who have only done say 2 holos and stopped ect.
Look I pay money to play this game cause I like Star Wars. Even with a job and family duities I have managed to focus totally, TOTALLY, on grinding profs to get my jedi character, and im really up there now past the point i even thought I could handle. Im gonna be straight about this, I bought this game solely to become a Jedi and that is my end game. Come hell or high water when this change goes into play if I dont see every boring seconds worth of work grinding put into whatever final step or however it goes quest to be a Jedi Im cancelling this game and moving on to whatever looks good.
Now I really like this game and have played since day number 1 at release and beta'd. But honestly I feel anyone who has done 20 profession plus, should get an automatic unlock. If you dont majorly compensate ppl what is gonna happen to your players who are on prof 29, 27, 23 ect. It will not be pretty I dont believe.
Worse case scenerio you give unlocks or something easy to do to ppl who have done holocron steps 4/5. Ooo ahhh big freaking whoop. SO what if there are more jedi initiates if you havent noticed it's hard as hell to level up and its not for everyone. Plus factor in TEFS and ppl activly looking to hunt "lowbie jedi's" its gonna make ppl not want to be a Jedi anymore. Now of course this wont happen to all ppl who get unlocks but hell ive seen ONE jedi character in all my time of playing and this smuck was yelling in coronet that he was a Jedi ect ect with the tag floating. What im saying is it sure wont hurt this game any to have more jedi, please trust me. The economy will go back to normal after the grind and other classes can be worked on, can we say squad leader, ranger and smuggler? Peace out-
