The reason behind the change is probably related to $$$$

Remember that a company don't invest hundred of thousands to pay engineers to work for nothing. A company want their investement to pay off. This is not a game but a product they are trying to sell like any products we buy in real life.

The only way they can keep Jedi rare and leave the option open to all is to allow anyone to create a Jedi at the character creation screen. It's going to be a very very weak initiate.

But if you want to play "say" a doctor or a bounty hunter you wont be able to unless you delete your jedi or get a second account.

Jedi will be so hard to level that you will give up trying. You will then want to try another prof or get a second account.

I'm ofcourse just guessing, i have no clue what's going on.

I guess I've passed up on posting to any of these roundtable discussion threads for various reasons. Theproblem I have, and I've been here since Beta 3, is that it just seems like our concerns which could be answered with either simple yes or no questions are always answered with doublespeak, or elusive riddles.

When the FSCS was a mystery, I was doing everything I could think of to get my slot. The only thing I've ever wanted in this game is a FS slot.....I love RP'ing a Jedi character, I always have, and the thought of being one of the few players to have one has always appealed to me very heavily. I've played live since day two of launch and when the system was finally revealed, I worked my butt off trying to grind professions. With the advent of the Christmas holos, it definitely made my life a lot easier, and I was singing praise at every turn again to the Dev's and SOE for making it an attainable system.

Now 23 professions and counting after finding out the system, I find out that the system is being changed. I don't really mind that it is being changed, because I thought it was a really weird system to begin with. But...and this is a big BUTT, if the system has already been changed, and the current method of gaining a force sensitive character is different from the old manner, we need to be told. I have felt in the past I could count on SOE to do the right thing, and give the people that have worked their arses off trying to get this slot, but now I'm not so sure. The holos were handed out on Christmas, and I for one dropped a profession I was happy in because it was just my means to gaining a Jedi, and then you guys yank the rug out from under us.

This game has really lost the fun it had when I first started playing because I've spentthousands of hours playing and I'm no closer to my goal than I was at day 1. You simply cannot treat players in this manner. I know I'm only one, but I really hope you will listen to what I'm saying because I do love this game, and I think SOE has tried to make it better....but don't do it at the expense of the player. If there has been a change please just be honest with us, and when the new system is published, give people like me who will have 28 profs mastered at that point something for the work they have put into your game. You all should be proud of the achievements in this game, but without players, its just software.

Hey TH, we've had a really annoying bug pop up on live this week - just since the trickle-out maybe? It seems like grouping isn't being considered in loot rights correctly anymore. I've been seeing it in groups for Voritor Hunter groups on Dantooine. It's like nobody does enough damage on their own to get rights. Hasn't happened solo.

If I try to loot, I get a message saying I don't have permission to access the corpse.

It seems like someone is always out of range in these groups, but group leaders are unable to kick them. Disbanding and reforming doesn't seem to help.

Groups are all different composition, newbs and masters, ranged and melee, with and without pets. The smallest group I've been in is probably about 8 and it was there as well as in groups of maybe 15-16.

Thunderheart,

Ichange my professions tag from Master Doctor to None, leaving me with no professiontag under my name.

I logout with no profession tag under my name.

I login with the Master Doctor tag under my name.

Because the gamedoesnt ever save theNone choice before logging out, I get 10 tells asking "you buff?"

Any chance of this being fixed in the near future? Its very annoying.

When I choose None, When I login the next day it should still be set to None and not reverted back to the last profession tag I choose before I set it to None.

It saves the last title, even if you lose the skill. I found myself flying the master merchant flag when I logged in the day after the game revoked it when I dropped the skill.

Try setting your tag to novice medic and then to nonebefore you log. It should be novice medic when you come back in.

As bad as this is for us, imagine how it is for the Jedi that want to be anonymous...

are you guys making any progress on the 'NPC stuck in wall' bug?

I've been trying to gain Jabba faction since COA III went live by hunting Valarians particularly in the slums of Mos Eisley, but they are almost 100% always stuck in the walls and therefore unatackable... plus no others will spawn since the area is spawn-capped (new word? )

I asked numerous CSRs via in-game ticket if they could do anything like 'unstick' 'despawn' 'suicide' the NPCs in question, but they said they could not...

if you guys are unable to get the primary problem fixed soon could you at least enable CSRs to do something like this?
ALSO another temporary solution (at least in the location of Mos Eisley) would be to move the spawn location 100m outside the city.... where there are no walls!.... no walls means NPCs cannot get stuck in said-nonexistant-walls

thanks

In walls they are still susceptible to grenade splash damage and will come out to get atyou if you can hit them with it. You can kite a mob to the location and then throw a grenade at it (even if you aren't certified to use it) and the mobs in the wall will come out after you. You might even be able to get another player to duel you on the spot so you can do it...?

Same thing happens with people camping meatlumps or thugs. In areas where they spawn near buildings, they are killed until such time as they have all respawned in walls, and then they just stay there until pulled out by grenade or server reboot lets them respawn.

This has been posted for the information of DE's and Droid users, and hopefully will reduce the 'tell hell' of De's on patch day. So far as we (the DE community is aware, this is factual) but of course we have had no feedback from Developers to confirm or deny.

DE's are posting this in the Galaxy forums as a service to our customers and other DE's.

It is not meant as a flame to anybody..merely sharing of information:

QUOTE:

The following is a public service announcement originally written by Virtanis, a fellow Master Droid Engineer on the Corbantis server. However, it is important information for droid owners and enthusiasts on all servers, so I'm cross-posting it here for all of you.

Based on information coming from DE's on Test Center, the previous DE Correspondent (Drashk) and the current DE Correspondent (TheRealTK421), please listen to the following announcement:

SOE has made a major adjustment to the armor ratings of Droids scheduled to be released for P7. Previously, Armor6 modules (the best armor module, an MDE made component) would give a droid Medium Armor and 40% resists across the board. SOE has significantly reduced this rating. It's new level will be NO armor, 20% resists across the board. In addition, this change is retroactive to ALL droids of all types and models: even those in deed form and those already in your datapad.

I repeat: this is a retroactive change to all droid armor ratings.

[Virtanis]sent a PM to TheRealTK421 today asking for clarification and confirmation of this, here is his response:

Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to already tamed probots?

Yes.

Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to probots in deed form (but not tamed)?

Yes.

Will the armor nerf be retroactive and apply to already made Armor6 modules not used yet in a droid?

I haven't tested this yet...but I suspect that it will.

It is probable that CL10 droids are being "equalized" to other CL10 pets, but no new information regarding greater than CL10 droids has been given to us by SOE. There are other changes in store for droids, like increased HAM and damage, but thenerfing of the droid armor is pretty severe. I will say that, unless some drastic change happens between now and Tuesday, or the information given to our correspondent is in error, this is being released to the live servers.

I felt it's my duty to inform the people of Chimaera, my friends, my guildies, and all my current and previous customers of this change. I will also say that the DE community did not request this change, but this was made by SOE alone.

I would like to further ask that people ignore the new "Droid Invasion" wallpaper that SOE has made available. The only droid in that picture that Droid Engineers can make is the R4 that is running for its life in the foreground. We CAN NOT make any of the combat droids in the background, so please don't ask. Droid Engineers are very upset about this patch as it is, and bugging us about things we wish we could do only makes us more grumpy than usual.

Thank you for your time, I hope this PSA is useful. I wish I didn't have to post it.

I apologise for SOE's behaviour in this.

Best Wishes

I am not sure if this is the right place for this but with the patch 8 on the way and economy being a motivating factor, I just have to wonder about the big picture. I haven't spent a lot of time online lately so I may be a bit out of the details but it seems to me that crafting changes will not greatly effect the overall economy.

If it is a matter of credits in and credits out, and who has them (an assumption on my part granted). Then changing the quality of a product won't make much difference.

How about a system that is more "closed". I don't how the formulas work or if this is way to complicated. But here it goes

Make an economy varable. Maybe the inflation varable.

Calculate the amount of credits on the server and if the number of credits change then change the inflation modifier.

Then change all calculations that include inputs and outputs of credits in the game. Like cost for harvs, houses, vehicle repairs, tickets, and even mission payouts, etc. As amount of credits on the server increase, then adjust the modifier to make missions pay out less and expenses to be greater. This would keep the value of a credit much more constant and help the economy in the game.

That would stabalize the amount of credits in the game, but not WHO has the credits.

The WHO part would have to be adjusted by a profession group modifier. Simple version would be to have 2 groups (warriors, crafters). If the warriors have much more money then the crafters then use a modifier varable in the calculations for things like harvisters vs mission payouts. If the warriors have too much money then decrease the credits of combat missions etc. Of course there likely should be more then 2 groups but they would take some more thought to work them in well.

Also the WHO part is also closely tied to a few special things, like skill tapes. The number of skill tapes on loot drops would have to incorporate the same modifier as combat missions as it is a combat character that recovers them. And issues of "free" products gained by macro looting etc also need to be addressed and cut off at the knees.

I know this is a whole new level of complication and may be a new world of MMORPG economics. But just think of it. Have there been any MMORPGs that didn't have an ever inflating econ? All of the "too simple" econs are really broken.

If you could fix these things then all you would have left is the thing you are working on now, balancing the money between the uber and newer characters. This should be resolved with luxury items that functionaly are better in performance/status but not better in value per credit. For example. Better quality armor should be out there but it should not be so much better that using it produces more profit then the extra money it costs. People can still go without luxuries and pile up credits, but the temptation will always come to spend some of that cash by the wealthy.

AN IDEA TO BALANCE "DABLLING FOR SPECIALS" WITH MASTERS

====================================================

def. Dabbling for Specials:

verb, the act of taking only a few skill boxes in a combat porfession to acquire the best special attacks. resulting in the dabbler being, generally, a stronger template than a Master of that combat profession by the fact that the dabbler has more free skill pointsto supplement his or her abilities.

====================================================

"dabbling for specials" works so well because special attacks have such high To Hit bonuses.

if it was the other way 'round, specials having a high To Hit penalty, then "dabbling for specials" would still be doable but only a Master of the combat profession (with his accumulated accuracy bonuses) would be really proficient at it.
