Honestly, given what the devs have decided, I may just delete and start over. I certainly have grinding down, but I didn't holo-grind. I just did professions because I had no desire to pay out the wazoo for holos, which is apparently what they wanted us to do. (God forbid they would've just left the Jedi mission holos alone
.) But now it sounds, for all my grinding, as if it will take me longer to get into the village, and if none (or very few) of the professions I ground out randomly happened to be my "holo-professions", then I won't even get any credit for all my work! I'm sorry, but that bites hard!!
There's not even a good way to tell if we have any holo-professions done, until after you get into the village. For pete's sake! If I at least knew how long I'd be waiting (months vs. a few hours of visiting POIs), then I'd know whether or not to delete my character. This is not about "I ground more than you did, I deserve more" or "I got to the silent holo, I deserve more". This is about being fair. And putting all the favoritism toward holo-grinders is BS, IMO. You need 26 boxes to do the exit quest. WTH is wrong with saying that each profession mastery equals one stinking box????? 26 for everyone. Period. That's a lot more fair across the board. People who got lucky andunlocked on profession 6 shouldn't get more credit than those who got unlucky and didn't get it until 32. Or people like me who ignored the holo-aspect and just did professions. Honestly. They had more money and uber-friends than I did to get holos for them, so they should get more credit, even with fewer professions? And what about people who started later, when all holos were silent and useless??? They get nothing??

SOE is working on Everquest II and left a few people who manage to keep players paying for staying with SWG and do as little as possible. They did a good job, they kept me waiting over a year without adding any relevant content. Now I have seen and done almost everything in SWG, even those very boring "Theme Parks". (Run there, kill one blue guy, run back, repeat).
I waited since Pub 8 for Pub 10 and expected, that I can do new Quests. Well I can't do them, I don't want to wait any longer, I don't want to spend any more money for this.
Time to change, time to cancel. Done and bye, bye.

Well, I didn't hologrind at all - in fact, I've never owned a holocron, except for a Sith Holo that I keep as a decoration. I've done 5 professions in the year I've been playing - Tailor, Merchant, Marksman, Teras Kasi, and Artisan, and there's no way that I hit all 5 holo-professions by blind luck. But, I've done all the POIs and have enough other badges to be "one with the force", so I qualify under the new system.
Well, which is it?
To be clear:
TH - I think the biggest question is When? When will player A and Player B get the visits. What group does Player B fall into?

While I don't share in the stinging venom of so many who have posted prior to me, I must say I was disappointed last night to not be visited by the old man. Logging on this morning to the forums, I realized that you had installed a gating system, which makes sense given the anticipated volume of traffic expected.
Admittedly, with my main character, I am glowing but did not holo-grind at all, so unlike those who "worked hard" (probably macroing their way through them vs. playing by the way) to grind out holos I realize quite well that I will be starting from ground zero in the quests. What I don't like is that I now have to wait an unknown number of (days, weeks, months?) to begin that process. I have been here since day 1, and have enjoyed the game but I am looking forward to pursuing Jedi, so at least some kind of indication as to how long I'll need to wait to get the visit would help deflect a number of these jabsyou're getting.
Rather than "fix" the situation as so many have requested, or just spendtime flaming you and the dev team fordecisions that had to be made (for those of you who do not understand the software development and release schedule life-cycle, which I anticipate is most of you, it can often take months to insert coding to make even small changes, especially in thiskind ofan environment - the fact thatthe devs have been able to even release 10 patches with major changes, in the last YEAR is amazing)please publish some kind of estimated timeline or at least explain the anticipated timeframe for the various groups through the gate.
As for those players who ground out 32 professions and either did or didn't unlock, first I salute your efforts, butif youapproach gainingJedi the way you did the holos, and by your messages it seems many of you will, I'm afraid you will end up being very disappointed at the end of the day when you get to Jedi Master and don't know what to do next. Why not slow down and try to actually enjoy the game vs. just grinding all the time and missing everything else and spending your time griping to everyone on the boards about how miserable you are. If it's that bad, LEAVE!!!!!
My 50 cents.

Bondie,
I think that's is the whole point everyone was trying to make! They weren't doing anything before pub 10, because for a lot of people, besides master every profession, there is nothing left for them to do! That is why so many people are livid about this publish and the lack of information concerning which group people will be in and so on. There is no way to tell for sure what group you're in unless you've unlocked already, or have anywhere from 1-5 professions that you had notmastered before pub 10.
Why wouldSOE tell people what group they're in? They know thatmost of the people in the last few groups would probably quit the game, or cancel untilthe first few groups have rotated in, which nobody knows how long that will take either.
What really cracks me up is this is supposed to be a feedback/open discussion thread, there's 60+ pages worth of posts, and not one crs or developer has answered any of the questions. It's like the dog that ate the couch while you were at work, and when they hear the garage door open they run for the nearest hiding place, knowing they're going to catch a whipping!

Ok someone answer this for me:
Yesterday after pub10 went live, I logged on and had a Surge. A friend of mine had Glowy immediately. I finished the Imp theme park 2 hours later and also got my Glowy.
Now does this mean my friend gets instant access to the village, and I have to wait several months for the final group?
Your friend has to wait 1-3 days for a visit. You are gated for a little while...not months

The Devs ARE doing their job. Their job is to keep you paying 15 dollars a month and thats exactly what they did. They know that none of you are going through on your threats to cancel your accounts and are now forced to wait for months to visit the villiage. Of course they could have made more villiages to handle the lag, or done other things. THIS IS ALL JUST A WAY TO KEEP YOUR MONEY COMING.
NICE JOB DEVS

I figured I would comment on that in a jedi thread because I don't know if it would even get noticed in any other. It dosen't seem fair to me that Jedi get SO much attention in a game made up of so many other classes as well,,.... (Once again I am not saying that Jedi do not deserve any attention,... just that the balance of attention seems off). Anyways, this will probably just get ignored,... I was just frustrated, because I was looking for a decent place to post general idea's,.. you know, somewhere where the post isn't so out of date that everyone posting in it is wondering whether anyone cares about them.I just see a ton of idea's out there that have nothing to do with jedi,... and a whole LOT of them are very good idea's,.. but then when I go over to the in development, in testing,.. etc etc... I see nothing on these ideas,.. just posts for bh and Jedi,...I and a whole LOT of other poeple who have no interest in EVER becomeing jedi are feeling very neglected,... just because we don't post as much as jedi and bh do dosen't meen that we are all happy here.
Sorry wasnt paying attention :-P.
As for this gating system there is still not a single confirmed OLD MAN VISIT ON THE TARQ server so they fuxed up something pretty badly. Its not even gated its walled up behind a barbed wired fence and few concrete slabs.

i totaly agree with what people are saying but the quests arent that hard guys and there letting groups in to do the missions very1-3 days or what ever, the phases last 2 weeks u can only do..1 mission or was it 2 im not sure but listen the missions arent that hard and everyone wants to get them done so im pretty sure everyone will be in there before the first phase is over with..at least im hoping cuz from what i hear these missions arent all that hard...but imas pee'd as the next guy but its not gonna change, belive me, ive complained, it does nothing but give u time until the old man visits you lol, im in group 4 so i know ill be the last one in but in the mean time ill go overt imp, kill some reb, bank xp (for the village, i already have some 3 million saved for it just to buy some novice boxes,)im gonna be saving money (and not spending countlesshours on it) and also hoping for a bug that will allow me to enter 2marrow hahaha but world cup of hockey's on so at least i have something to occupy my time for at least 2.5 hours
keep the complaints coming becasue i have mostly the same view as other people and its cool to have my word being said without having to type haha

Okay, so here is my boggle. I started playing late August/early September last year. Back in teh days that FATAL raided Anchorhead (Starsider) and epic battles of Moon running in and out of the base that was there. I grinded a long time before the badges came around. I have been a Master Bounty Hunter, A Creature Handler, a Combat Medic,a Doctor, a Artisan ( had to get those resources for my doctor/CM days) Carbineer, Pistoleer, Commando, 2 Handed Sword, Fencer (yeah, got made fun of several times by Avatar when I was on Rori trying to chase him down knowing this profession sucked at the time), I have mastered since Badges, Medic (again) Scout (again) Ranger, Marksman (again), Teras Kasi, and brawler. I had a little connection to the force. Now to me...That is a little messed up. Anyone have a suggestion? Is it even worth me trying?

Chado02 and BEENdover have hit the nail on the head in my opinion. Its all well and good saying certain players will get visited soon.Nobody has heard of anyone being visited by the old man yet,so lots of players are annoyed and ask why, yet nobody (Thunderheart or anybody else from SOE)has the decency to bother answering the players questions in a satisfactory way.
If the players had at least some response to their questions i would guess the rants would die down. The lack of response is leading people to believe they are being duped and that the best solution to the problem is to cancel their accounts.

Yeah, what fries a lot of us is the dishonesty and silence.
Hell if the Old Man is broken just say he's broken and give us an ETA on a fix.
