Turned on my computer to play...read this thread instead. Did not play.
Hope tomorrow sees a post saying that the thousands of bugs that haven't been fixed because they are working so hard on the combat rebalance are suddenly fixed...

"The reality as I see it from a business perspective is that SOE believes there is a built-in core audience for a STAR WARS MMORPG who will continue to pay $15 no matter what. They're only goal is to figure out how big that audience is and then spend no more money than necessary to keep those people playing."
GotBlueMilk, you are very close to reality here. They do expect turnover, that's why JTL exists, to bring in new and repeat customers to fill in where others leave. Some who leave simply because the novelty wears off, other's who leave because they no longer or never liked the game, lol.
Not only will they increase this years revenues with JTL sales, the increase in subscriptions that they will experience is very significant as well.

And once again, the company thinks that the new expansion will bring 1000's more subscribers. Unfortunately, due to their utter incompetence, they'll lose a lot more than they gain.
Oh, great timing too! Right during the popular 14-day free trial! Now you have all these new players looking at the boards, and thinking "Wow..if this company really does blow off their customers desires this much..i'm not paying to play"
Good job fellas. Hire a new team

*sigh*
Honestly, it's threads like these.. the ranting, the screaming, the crying, the "I QUIT!".. THIS is the reason I hardly ever post in these forums.
People. STEP BACK. Just for a moment. Stop. Take a deep breath.
Tell yourself... "It's a video game. I'm having a fit.. over a video game." See how silly that makes you feel?
I spend more in amonth on coffee than I do on this game, and I have 3 accounts. Honestly. It's not like I'm spending a fortune on the game. So stop bringing up OMG I SPEND ALL THIS MONEY ON THIS GAME!! If you aren't having fun, why are you playing? Isn't that the POINT of a video game? To have fun? If you ARE having fun.. well, *relax*.. things will get better. If it gets to the point where you *aren't* having fun - move on! It's not a life changing event! It's not the death of a family member! It's a VIDEO GAME. I read some of these responses, and I swear I can see the eyes bulging, the spit flying, the veins popping.. is it worth it? Fora *video game*?
I've been playing this game since the beginning of beta 3. I have 3 accounts. I play a Wookiee CH/Politician (gimp). I play a Rodian dancer (gimp). I have one real combat character. Do I enjoy playing? You bet! If I did NOT enjoy this game, I sure as heck wouldn't be playing it. I've got better things to do with my time than spend time doing something I hate. I have work for that, and they pay me.
I'll be playing this game for a long time to come. I'm looking forward to the upcoming changes. I'm looking forward to JTL. Will it have bugs? More than likely. Will I keep playing? Sure thing. Until the game is no longer fun. Then I'll move on.
And I certainly won't rant about it for months on end before I go.
Just my 2 credits.

Thunderheart wrote:Great ExpectationsThere are great expectations in the community for the upcoming Combat Balance and the Galactic Civil War revamp. These announced upcoming major features are pivotal to making the Galaxies experience more of a Star Wars experience. To deliver on these major features, we will need the full development team and re-assembling the team isn’t going to happen until after the upcoming Jump to Lightspeed expansion is shipped.Delaying these critical features was not something we are doing for our convenience, but only to ensure they are done well. The team leadership has been discussing these changes, the future of SWG and the feedback from the community. Clearly the community wants us to do a better job at delivering the game service and this reinforced our decision to make sure we have adequate resources on each update to the game.At the core of the discussions are our team goals. The team’s goals are to increase the quality of the service, make the game more fun and accessible and finally to make a much more intense Star Wars experience. In this, we agree with the community that our design and implementation process should continue to be improved and we want to assure our customers that it is our goal to exceed their expectations and make SWG the finest MMORPG ever.Rather than continue to split the team’s forces and try to accomplish too many goals, we’re going to do a few things and do them right. Once the Jump To Lightspeed is complete, the team as a whole will be re-grouped. Then the combined team will accomplish the Combat Balance, the GCW and all the other improvements to the game.
What’s Ahead
To offset this very big announcement that will affect all of you, I will be immediately working with the correspondents and the community to develop a list of pre-combat balance fixes to get combat into a more enjoyable state. This will encompass many items planned for the Combat Balance, and will happen in a steady stream between now and JTL. The Combat Medic and Bounty Hunter changes that are coming in Publish 9.1 are the first of these efforts.Between now and JTL is where I come in. Right out of the gate, I’ll be working with the community to develop plans for the Combat Balance and post them on the site; we’ll do a few features and I will continue to post updates. Later we will do the same for the GCW, the Squad Leader Revamp and all of the community issues on the table. In this, we can marry community expectations and development goals in a way that has never been done before with online games. Our next major update, Publish 10 will bring us “The Jedi Trials”. Finishing the revamp of the Jedi profession is a big task. Being a Jedi is a big part of the Star Wars experience and it is a big game system. To become a Jedi, there needs to be a known path with mysterious quests, new NPC’s, new NPC behaviors, new places and all the little things that will make The Jedi Trials a publish to be excited about. To accomplish this, the team has expanded the scope of publish 10 so there is more design time and more testing time (hence the big changes). Not long after The Jedi Trials, we’ll be focused on the JTL Beta and integrating Space with the ground game. Meshing the live service with JTL is a big challenge since it means it will be the first time anyone has ever integrated a complete RPG and action Space game before.
The Jump to Lightspeed is currently on track for a later October launch, which is a relatively short time away. Prior to that, we’ll be finishing up the Jedi Trials (Publish 10) and right after that, we will begin integrating the ground game with Space, start the JTL Beta Test and get on with making the game we all want to play. The good news is that the Jump to Lightspeed beta registration site is opening later this weekWe appreciate your continued participation in the SWG community. Please continue to give us constructive feedback on our message boards as it helps us keep focused on your needs and priorities.
We don't care for your excuses anymore. Get your act together NOW or face the consequences in form of cancellations. Since I'm here since Beta 3 I would consider myself a hardcore fan of this (horrible but promising) game but even my patience is running out QUICK now.

1-of-14... There's one interesting difference though between JTL and any expansion I've ever seen for a MMORPG: it's a completely different game. They're not introducing new "lands" or any new planet-based content. In actuality, none of us here needs to pick up JTL to continue playing because even if we do buy it, the ground game is going to be the same as if we hadn't.
I don't know... seems to me they might want to stir up some goodwill around here before they find those JTL boxes collecting dust on the shelves.

I'm scared at where this is going... I just hope the good intentions pan out... otherwise there will have to be a SWG summit like the EQ one
Agree.. Some issues need to be fixed right now.. like Jedi and GCW.. IMO SWG is far worst then EQ was when they hadthe summit.. PvP is unplayable..
Im canceling my accounts..

What's that snapping sound?
Oh, wait...that was the camel's back.
Rest in peace, Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided. Here's to your amazing potential, your fabulous good looks, your ugly and broken underpinnings, your horrible mismanagement, and your untimely death brought about by incompetence and lies.
