I don't know if this has been brought up yet or not, but maybe a type of "mini-game" for entertainers could be fun.. something like a duel between the entertainer and an NPC.. for example:

The NPC would do flourish 1, 3, Pause, 6, 4.. and then the entertainer would have to copy. then maybe the NPC would do something with 5 steps.. and so on... a very simple gig that you see in games all over the place, but i think it would add something a little different... maybe provide a bit of a challenge and break some of the monotony (not to mention you can't macro for it)

Couple of ideas, not sure if they've already been thought of...

Dancer - A mission for Jabba's palace. You find out from an NPC outside the palace that their sister/friend/lover/whomever has been kidnapped by Jabba as a dancer, and he won't give her/him? up. You have to go in, and by dancing for Jabba, get his attention instead of the kidnappee. Jabba dumps his old dancer, inpreference to you.

Dancer/Musician/Entertainer - How about for particularly difficult entertainer missions in cantinas (like the more focused artisan survey missions), the crowd (spawned at time of mission) wants a particular song/dance in the player's repetoir, and favours certain flourishes over others. Thus, when the player starts entertaining, the get a pop up/system message telling them what the mood of the crowd is. If they keep the crowd above a certain 'happiness' rating, they get paid (and lots of it), fail, and they get nothing! Possibly, when they first enter the area, depending on their skill, they get a 'The crowd seems sad' or something, and a clever entertainer would learn which dances/songs that suggested. The crowd could also heckle or cheer depending on the player's sucesses.

Dancer/Musician/Entertainer - Group missions. If several entertainers are grouped, they can get a mission for a certain number of them (a band, or a troupe). Their success is then based on their band flourishes, but otherwise much like the above 'favor rating' mission.

I'd like to see lights or something that glow/flash when an entertainer is dancing/playing in a cantina or hotel. Better than spamming /yell Entertainer in Cantina!!!!

Image Designer - I'd like to see missions for them. They have to get to the customer, and depending on what that customer wants, give them a particular hairstyle or similar. For example - one might say "I wan't something like that lovely Organa girl." - cue Leia hairdo. Or possibly as vague as "I need a change - surprise me!" They get their image design xp, a bonus for doing the mission, and a payout depending on how 'happy' the NPC is with the result.

Entertianer/et al - Factional missions. They take the mission to entertain the troops in the field. The mission spawns one of their factional camps and they have to go there and dance/play. This gives them a TEF!! Once the mission is over, they are rewarded with cash and factional xp, and after a few moments the base 'moves off' (dissapears).

Image Designer - Factional missions. They take a mission at a factional point and have to change the spawned NPC's appearance by a certain amount before they can go on their undercover mission. Not sure if doing this should give a TEF, possibly.

Entertainer duels - If two entertainers are grouped and take a 'dueling' mission, they get told to go to a cantina/hotel/theatre and duel. They both dance/play and their spawned audience vote for one or the other. Players should be able to vote also- to decide which of the two they favour. After a certain time, the person with the most votes gets the payout, and gets an xp bonus for winning. This might lead to entertainers having competitions to see who is best - with players voting for their favourite. Maybe cash should be partially based on number of votes, as well as skill?

Hope some of those interest you, TH. If I haven't made anything clear, let me know.

I have a couple of points.

First, stop with the bard requests. If you want to play an active role in combat, spend some skill points in a combat profession. You can be a master dancer or musician, and hold your own in combat. I don't want to see pure entertainers with no combat skills playing a role in combat - distracting through music is completely ridicoulos in Star Wars. We don't have magic music in Star Wars. Any band on a battlefield would just get shot in Star Wars, or ignored if they arevery, verylucky. I myself have mastered dancer, and spent the rest of my skill points on some combat skills, and I can hunt with anyone.

Second, a bazaar category for jobs would be very, very nice. It would not take much imho to code that in - just add a section to the bazaar terminals, and add an item "note" that people could rename with their job description and a way to contact them (Tells or email). That way you can check for open jobs and thencontact the employer - to check details, and make sure he is online.

IMHO, just adding such note items would make hiring entertainers much easier for players, and entertainers could also advertise that way - artisans already do similar things. It would also be easy - most is alreday there, the local/planet/galaxy check etc. Much easier than adding more terminal missions.

Third, I support the notion to add more entertainer content in theme parks anyway. I hated the fact that I had to kill and dodestroy missionsto enter Jabba's palace as a dancer. There should be another way. I would be wary, however, of just adding the token entertainer need to the usual go there and kill missions. Better make an entire quest not needing combat, or a quest where you can use multiple options do do it.

Fourth, I don't want to see EQ style quests where you have to camp and grind just to play your profession. I don't want uberloot, so if you add new dances etc. through quests, make it quests anyentertainer can do without requiring a) either a full group of maxed combat characters or b) has to grind or even camp for days to complete it. If you add new clothes and dances, just add them.

I take your point about the bard maybe not being a good idea, I was just trying to come up with ways to get the entertainers out into groups and socialising without spending all their time in the mind numbing holo grinding cantinas. With your point I do think it might bad idea to have the magical distract thing is unrealistic but I do reckon the mission termianls were hunting groups and entertainers can advertise/higher to get people to attend the hunts is a possibility. Even if they made it that they had to stay in the camp with my idea of having a license to heal bf out in the field which means doctors and combat medics can come back and get healed during the hunt. I do feel that with the chefs now being able to create good buffs for the mind the entertainers could be come more redundant as it is hard to find an entertainer who stays master becuase of all this holo grinding. I think perhaps the mind buffs which entertainers can give shouldwork in conjuction with the food being suplied so it is beneficial to have both. If this was to be implemented then you could find that entertainers are going out and travelling more and being more social instead of hologrinding.

I have read the other replies and I feel yes there should be alot more missions in regards to entertainers which aren't combat related like the jabbas palace, or quests etc, but I do agree in the fact these should be none combat related but in turn I think there should be incentives for players who are not entertainers to attend these quests etc to keep the social activity going, whether its a competition in jabbas place to fight a rancor, were people need to wait and be healed which in turn can still see the entertainers completing there mission whislt recieving a mind buff/healing before they go in. I also really like the idea of entertainers being a source of information were bounty hunters and faction missions need this info from the entertainers which in turn can be a mission for both groups keeping the social aspect going.

I think overall once the hologrinding stops then maybe the social aspect will return. As I didn't play the game back then I don't know what it was like, but I can imagine that a cantina was more like what a cantina should be. Entertainers are there to entertain as well as other roles, not to be an object of healing where people can just use and abuse I suppose. I do understand that u can decline healing, but maybe in cantinas etc you would need to asked to be healed which would stop people being afk and also would get the social interaction starting straight away. Fair enough u might just say yes and thats it but it opens the door for more interaction and talking.

I also think within these quests it could be an idea to have planetary competitions were dancers/entertainers have an achievement after to aim for aftermastery, to achieve a goal were you are the "best dancer in that planet" and once recieved this title you could have extra bonuses for healing etc If u had this kind of titile and u used your local cantina you might find people travelling to your local cantina to get these extra benefits which means no massive populations in the one place. Also it would mean you need to keep at it in some way and have to defend your title through this competition. I haven't really thought through the ideas as to how this could happen, but it is a suggestion and will think about it more if anyone thinks it has merit

I also like the idea (mentioned by someone else) of having cantinas fully booked for entertainers/visitors forcing them to go elsewhere if it is too busy. It would more like a cantina/club

Entertaining NPC soldiers at bases and battlefields to get healing xp. So spy work could be thrown in here if the entertainer was factioned, with a slight chance of being discoverred and killed. Overhearing the right info would give faction points if it was then reported to your recruiter.

I would lke to have the Big Warrior Dance with us Dancers.

Once i Prpposed to change the /Dance Command to something

looking like the "Basic" Danceloop. So Yo can have Pair Dances

with 2 people standing head to head, even if you Dance with a

Non-Dancer. This might Facilitate Ballroom-Fun, in which non-Dancers

can pairdance with others

The present /Dance-Command is Ballet-Like Crap, fit only to mock.

Oh, Missions: What about new Dancer Clothes ? Or at least FUNCTIONING

8 Flourishes for each Dance?

Maybe even a new Dance.. Or Dances for special Purpose: Buffing,

Arousing (Dizzy?), Wound heal.....

The drums of war...

Your alone, seemingly stranded in the wilderness. The enemy appears to be everywhere, but you are not sure if they are aware of your presence. Then, seemingly through the fog comes the dreadful sounds of the drums. The drums that signal one thing and one thing only; a battle is about to begin. The hair on the back of your neckbegins to feel heavy...it perks with sweat. And you realize the sweat is from fear. Fear of being discovered? Nay, the fear of death.

The lone drum's beat begins, at first, as a simple beat, defining rythym and defining motive. Then it begins to quicken in pace and intensity...the whole time you are realizing that your fear is turning into intimidation. Intimidation by the apparent frenzy which is forming in front of your ears. The drums are now being joined by the sounds of a definitve and confident step, the stepping sound that only a force of soldiers in armor can make.

Have they found you? It appears to be headed towards your hiding place, your only refuge. The step of the soldiers is still accompanied by the drums.

Those drums... if only they would stop, I would be able to think about how to get out of here... they cloud your judgment, they dizzy your thought process, they invade your very heart. The drums are right upon you. Or, is that the soldiers?

The drums? The soldiers? Which is it? They seem to be one and the same, as if they are feeding off of each other. The march seems more confident with each step and the drummers are beating the drums as if to call to arms and to call the order...

Such discipline, such order...

You find yourself in utter chaos, not knowing which way to turn...

Then... you hear, in the distance, but yet it might as well beright next to you--the high pitch of the slitherhorn, forming with its every move on the scale - a song, a communication, a voice of reason and, yes, hope. A song with which you are most familiar. The song of comrads, the song of allies, the song of friends, the song, in all its glory... a call to arms.

Now, the sound of the infernal drums is dismissed by your own thoughts as they begin to form up and become steady with the sound of your song. The song that calls you to arms. The song that makes you stronger. The song that drowns the drums of war...

You are not alone.

------------------------

I do not want to sit in a cantina while my friends fight for my freedom. I want to go into battle with my song. I want to rally my guild, my faction, my army. I want to confound my enemy with my song. I want to go to war too. I want to be useful in the battlefield. Not around it and not of it... IN it.

sry for my english *g*

so i miss some things as entertainer, one of my dream was to make a concert or so things. a way would be to mix not only flourishs... mixing the music styles and flourishs would give us a greater varity of doing. i want to make music but i cant do that realy as a master. when i play on street or in a hall it makes all no diference. why do others hear only music when they listen? whats about places like theaters or halls where every one can hear the music?! Or the places in the citys where instruments open for playing... why can no one hear the music there?

one job of entertainers should be to get color in the world.

i would prefere a diferent mission system. one way could be a player given like it mostly is. so when there are some places like a board where any one can show he need 2 musicans and in which time. in this way could work npc given missions. so i could take a npc mission go to the place where i have to play an other npcs arive and play with me... what i need then is a good system that i can do team flourishs... atm it works not realy good.... it would be better to say player one make no flourish player 2 make flourish on and so on... or spliting music groups in 2 groups, so that each can make other flourishs... hm and so long player need xp it would be great that any one which makes a teamflourish get xp... and i would be happy when a 20 player party of entertainers which makes... uhm not realy music only small amount of xp get. *g* iw ould never listen this groups...

other way would be i go with a entertainer group and look for a mission so the npcs or terminal, gives then a mission for just this players.

customized dances and music .... thats what we realy need... but it is hard to implement... *g* so i remember there was some programs in which i have some samples of musics... which any one can mix in a way how it wish to do it... the flourish are just a kind of it... so i need them not special animatet... but that i have many of this dance/music fragments which i can mix and so i can make a more specialized music... and it would be make more sance to spend more time in creating own songs. and then it maks real sence to play in concerts so each player can play diferent music...

but this ability to get should be able only for masters which did some tasks to learn this... but i think you wantet to knew:

how could be a mission?!

1.way would be i have to meet a npc and he has some mind wounds or bf and i have to heal them.

2. i have to go to a open place like the places with the instruments and have to play them. and to entertain others so as a task could be that 5 players or so have to listen me or also posible some npcs which running around.

3. would be longer tasks for spezial quests... so i could meet an npc he knew a people he is verry ill and boring... so he thinks i could make him hapy with some entertainment. so i go to them and talk with them and i have to give some right answers to get them a good feeling... when i did get his trus and he get a little smile he follows the player to another place where i have to make the music for a party... and so on ...

4. like 1. one to buff an npc the mind stats...

5. hm we can register us so... it could be a quest or mission to play/dance on diferent places for a countet time. so the mission givers tell me that i have to play in bestine cantina... then on talus in theatre ... for each 2 hours or so... so i go then to bestine first register in the cantina and start .... and the time is running then when i did dance the full time i get an information that i can move to the next place...

6. i have to teach a npc in dancing/music... not in give them the skill to do so... no i have to show them step by step the dance and after a few trys the npc makes what i do and when he do so the mission is a succes.

7. one quest could be to make a instrument for an npc is like the crafting quests.... but i would use this only for a special quest... so to get a new instrument i need to find some resources on diverent planets which i can find in chests, or houses... or i get them by doing another tasks for another npcs... and finaly i get not the shema for an instrument i have to give the resources to the npc and he offers me the instrument... (similar with dances but for dances i need prints with foodsteps or so as the resource)

8. organice a party ... i have to get some stuff so that a party can done... or how i did say a kind of board where i can tell others where the next party is...

others things did say othersabout jabba & co so i do not repeat this now *g*

lower the xp for to large entertainer groups best xp should be given for groups of 2-6 i think it could be a way that the players go to diferent places on the world...

new musics and dances i would prefer to get for spezial tasks which i did finish... so i learn this finaly from a book or just an another npc. but to use them good i use some practice too... so i could get a new dance from a npc but now i have to use them first some time... and npc give some instruction... instruction could be that i have to make some flourishs in a special order... or so and when i did it in the right way he let me go )

what i miss is to costumize instrument like other things, some special cloths only wearable for entertainer classes...

(why should entertainers not suppot in fight? they have not to wear a weapon no but they could help a group to fight better... hm i knew there are squadleaders with quite similar option... so the job of entertainer could be to lower the defence of an enemy or to increase the mind recharge of the group by playing a battle song or so things... or a short bonus to an attack stat for the first hit... but it makes theme more to a barde then *g*)

Bump to:

Entertainer entertaining the troops

Entertainer spying

Entertainer working in Jabba's palace

Entertainer missions being bought by Player Cantina Owners and placed on the Entertainer Mission Terminals

would add:

Drop those silly special effects tree from the Dancer skill path. What a waste of time! Replace with 1- Dancer combat dodging +20 on dodge, 2-Dancer music (i.e. they have a boombox to play music on and can have music even if no musician is present!) 3- Dancer self buff, 4-Dancer Multi-buff to buff more than one person at a time. At Master Dancer add- Vendor placement (for the cantina so people can buy drinks) Robo Dancer so they can have a droid that will dance and heal Players that visit the player cantina when no Player dancers are present.

Besides Profession/Mission the player cantinas need to be fixed as they are terrible right now, they are silent non-healing places with no point in players visiting. Boombox and robo dancers would partially help to address that. Right now as a cantina owner I see no point in having a player cantina. Its a waste of time to sit in this ghost town and a waste of money to pay for it to be maintained. It doesn't need to be that way and the concept of having a cantina is very kewl, its the execution of having a cantina that is lacking. Maybe a play bill could be added to the planet map where cantinas are listed?

Heres a good one for IMAGE DESIGNERS:

I am an imperial and in my guild I keep hearing the alien players how it sucks to have a penalty on all faction perks. Ive also heard alot of alien players ask to be able to wear stormtrooper armor.

My sugestion would be to let Image designers give alien players some sort of "formal look". It would be some kind of buff that would let alien Players be treated just like a human player because of the Image designers makeup on the alien. Then that player would be able to wear stormtrooper armor just like anyone else, I think this would please alot of them and you , as IDs would get to be very usefull for alien players =)

This idea can be extended to many more aspects of the game, such as wookie issues and stuff but I will let you guys develop on this =)

Heres an idea...

Fame meter...

Fame meter is hidden from the entertainer, and is based on gig mission experience. the more gig missions you do, th ehigher your fame metter goes. Higher fame ratings would open new mission types, up to and including faction based participation.

Fame ratings:

low or no fame: standard gig missions, luke-warm reaction from cantina NPCs

Known: Gig mission increase in payout, and better locations. NPCs in cantinas or gig locations pay more attention, applauding and cheering.

famous: Special gig mission generate. NPCs spawn at locations like Theed palace or large theaters. NPCs reactions increase, cheering shouting praise etc.

superstar: Faction gig missions! Jabba invites you to play at his palace! The emperor sends you e-mail about a command performance! Leia needs you to play at her birthday party! NPCs recognise you in the street and follow you to ask for autographs!

Another idea that has been suggested already are NPC pet band members. Not a lot, maybe 2 at master, to help fill in the sound when youre playing alone.

I think this is a great idea. Not sure about having it hidden from the entertainer. I'd like to be able to check my fame meter in my character sheet, but maybe having it hidden makes it more of a challenge. This concept as whole "works" for me because:

1. It rewards people for taking entertainer missions (which hopefully will pay better in future), causing them to play in a variety of locations on all planets (not just Theed and Coronet cantinas). This will mean entertainment in more cities and more venues than we have now, andthe chance for entertainers to meet new patrons and vice versa.

2. It won't reward AFK grinders or buffbots. Those players don't take missions. They will continue to AFK macrotain in the large grind capitals to get their experience, and then drop the profession or AFK buff in their guild's cantina once they've mastered. Since this system does not reward them with more or faster xp, it won't make any difference to them.

3. It won't hurt roleplayers either. In fact, roleplayers will relish the chance to take a "special" entertainment missions or faction missions, and they'll work it into their roleplaying.

Another idea to enhance this concept and entertainer missions as whole: make entertainer missions scale to groups just like regular missions. Example: I'm in a hunting group on Dantooine. The more there are of us, and the higher the level of our skills, the higher the levelof missions we can get and the better the payouts. Make it workin a similar way for entertainers. Two or three master dancers or musicians (or both) grouped together should be able to get higher paying missions than a group of novices, or a performer ungrouped. The reward is split among the group members - both the credits AND the resulting fame boost. It would be helpful if missions could be "entertain" and not restricted to "music" or "dance." Perhaps revamp missions to "entertain" and "image design" instead of "music" and "dance."
