Thread: Producer's State of the Game Letter April 27, 2004
A very good letter. Of all the games I've played, this letter was the most concise in terms of times and what is being planned for the future of the game.
I am a bit concered over the Jedi Quest system. I have been since it was announced. When time consumption is more important than fun and interestnig content I get very worried. I don't mind spending a lot of time doing something, as long as each minitue I play is enjoyable and rewarding.
RE: Character Transfer...
Could this be a prelude to galaxy consolidation?
Consider where SWG ranks in new sales according to npd reports, and the dead cities ingame, people on forums quitting, etc., there "appears" to be a life vs. death ratio of 1:2 or 1:3.
Asherons Call 2, amongst others, did a massive consolidation...could we be next?
I for one hope for the love of the force its not true, but it's definitely something to consider.
Like many others I am wondering how they will choose who is a veteran player and who isnt.
I very much hope the only criteria they use is the veteran players being the ones who have put the most amount of cash into their coffers by subscribing the longest. Not how many forum posts someone has made, since there will be many like myself who have played for ages but only lurked the forums without making many posts. The forums are an integral part of the game and Ive learned a lot from reading them but this is not reflected in my post count.
Id be pretty miffed if someone who has posted /bump a thousand times is considered a veteran if they haven't been playing as long.
But hooray for SWG!
Ah, another one that thinks the movie Casablanca is 'about world war II'

One part of the vision described in this message bothers me a great deal: the notion that all players will essentially be forced into taking part in the GCW. This game was introduced as a game with options of playing it as PvE or PvP, but more and more it is becoming apparent that the game is geared toward theloud minority ofPvP players.
Ok you dont understand what he is saying. The devs have been talking about this since god knows how long, your going to be forced into the GCW no matter what side you pick.Star wars revoles around well a war.And what I think they mean is that crafters will take part in the war without fighting and that people that don't like PvP will have more GCW NPCs to fight and quests to do.
The game is not geared in anyone direction. You dont realy have a choice in matter of the GCW,thats what the game is about and revoles around the GCW,all parts of it PvP PvE and crafting. If you dont want to be apart in the GCW then why are you playing a star wars game?

Just going to add my 2 credits and say that he makes Junp to Lightspeed sound awsome. My only hope though is that either a> I can open a second slot to have a pilot/gunner or b> that the space professions will somehow be outside the norm (or we get more skill points or something) cause as a doc or commando, or BH there isnt much else we can do... hrmm... BH that cant be a pilot because he runs out of skill points?!?! Hrmm... somebody better tell Boba Fett
I'm hoping there will be Core Skill Points and separate Space Skill Points.
W.TF did I get one-starred for this?
what do you propose? that to fly a ship you have to drop all your other skills? that's @#$%ing retarded........... as the guy before me mentioned it takes almost all of one's SPs to master BH............ tell me how much sense will it make to not let BHs pilot any ships?
LOL..........
BH: I am feared across all of the galaxy, I will track this person down for you, Jabba.
Jabba: HAHEhehehhah, yoooouu are mighty BH? maybe, but what kind of ship you have?
BH: I'm incapable of flying ships. o.O
Jabba: *pulls latch to Rancor pit*
All I can say is WOW. The things you guys have planned for the future of this game sounds great.
Now on the flipside, just know that you have raised my (and most likey the entiregaming communitys) expectations as most of these announcements sound so cool and most importantly, useful.
I'm sorry but the jonny come latelys don't deserve jack, the people who put the time in and know what it was like since day one deserve the little rewards they get. Don't worry about it being Uber or anything, all they're giving us are different ships--not necessarily better ships. I mean if youweren't aroundremember what it was like before mounts, or when the resources used to switch like every other week and whatever else they did that jerked our emotions around--you don't have a right to complain about fairness! All the vets out there put the time in waiting for improvements and updates so that new people would actually start playing, the reward all the late comers get is the game in the state its in, becuase if it wasn't for us bitching to the devs for the better part of the year, and trying to get changes made--I could guarantee we wouldn't have half the content we have now!

Sounds good 'cept for 2 things:
1) Veteran rewards: This isjust really mean to ALOT of people and really isn't needed. Add something that everyone can get Veterans will be able to get it all the same while letting late comers actually have a chance!
2) Server switching: I really dont see a need for this. Allowing people to swap characters through servers just takes away the purpose of having chosen proffesions.
Delete my post eh?
Afraid of something?
Where is the galactic civil war content? Why do jedis get 2 patches before we get any content to affect the galactic civil war? Why are melee weapons better than 1/2 the ranged weapons classes?Just to name a few of my questions that where deleted.
Fear your angry customers. We will have our revenge by ruining your forums and ingame atmosphere.
More content and communication than ever before.
Keep it up gang, you're starting to really turn things around. ![]()
