Thread: Publish 8 Mini Publish Testing Feedback: Image Designer Revamp
Changing the stats migration to ID-only is the worst idea ever. I change my stats on a daily basis because of what I do in the game.
I am in the resource harvesting business and I tweak my stats daily to adjust for the different HAM cost ofsamping different resource by hand. Depending on how much BF and buff I have, sometime I can put more points into my MIND pools or sometime I can put more points in to ACTION pools. This is the way I play my toon, and I rather enjoy the peacefulguild chat, stats tweakingand see how long I can manually sampling resource without a break.
I was considering starting a 3rd toon so I can add more members tomy chain-gang.
The stats migration change is going to force me to stop what I enjoy about this game, which is tweaking my stats so I can continuously manual resource sampling while chatting away.
Thanks Dev, for all the wonderful changes that will ruin my game play, literally.

Remember how decay killed PvP as a game system? This will destroy stat migration.
Did anyone perhaps think that now IDs will be in such high Demand that MORE people will Level up ID?
So a class that does very little other than perhaps do the ocasional hair change can now do a little more it gets Bitched at.
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!! there are spending a little bit of time on project other than PVP and COMBAT!! OMG OMG! I CAN'T KILL THAT GUY WITH MY MACROS AS FAST SHOULD BE ABLE TOO!!! OMFG!! I"M GETTING RIPPED OFF!!!!!!I should be able to kill anyone i want and Mutilate their corpse then pillage there house because they are less 1337 than i am!!!! blah blah blah,
I'm an Image designer on starstrider, i leveled up because it actually is pretty fun being able to look completely different everyday. I didnt go for the money, I dont usually ask for money unless i am in the middle of hunting and the person is using up a good portion of my buff time or if they are getting an extensive Makeover and i have to chug a brandy
If image designers Charged 100k per stat migration NOOONE would come to them unless they were extremly desperate, they would make much more money charging perhaps 1-3k (BAH on you guys who insist on getting everything for free) Slowing down stat migration or perhaps limiting the total ammount you can migrate on your own would probably be a better option.
I do have one request for the image designer tents, Can you make them buildible for player cities? Perhaps something like merchant tents?
QuiJonOz wrote:Stat Migration: Image Designers now have the sole ability to migrate player stats faster than the previous default migration rates. The process will take 10 minutes and requires the Image Modification Booth located inside the ID tents. This functionality has been revoked from the general player base and now requires an Image Designer. So it sounds like the previous default rate still applies (and someone from TC confirmed this). It looks like if you want to migrate quicker, see an ID, others you'll have to settle for the previous default rates.Gods, quit crying people.
Read the last sentence of your quote, the ability to alter stats has been removed from the general player base, and that was reiterated in the last line of TH's post starting this thread.
In case that wasn't clear enough, how about reading the last line of TH's post:
"Note: Players can no longer do their own stat migration, please consult an Image Designer for pricing."
How much clearer can it be?
Short response to the issue:
Giving IDs the ability to shorten the time it takes to migrate stats = good.
Taking away the ability of everyone else to do it the old way = very bad.
First off, I don't have anything against IDs. I started working on that profession myself once just for fun, but I didn't get very far. These comments are aimed towards JustG and the other devs.
I have a bothan as one of my two main characters, and I've been playing him since the day after launch. I'd seen three player jedi's before I found an ID that could give him the hair style I had wanted since I created him.
Admittedly, I didn't go out of my way to look for them, and I didn't know about the ID server list on this forum (it may not have existed then, I don't know when it was started), but I still think that's a pretty damning anecdote concerning the general availability of IDs.
Some people hardly ever do stat migration, but others do it a lot, and while enhancing the current system by allowing IDs to speed up the process is a great idea, removing the current system is an incredibly bad one. This is especially true given that the upcoming combat balance will undoubtedly cause many players to want to migrate their stats.
You plan on making the game less fun for 98% of the population by FORCING them to visit an obscure profession in a specific location every time they want tomigrate stats, something that they used to be able to do on their own whenever and wherever they wanted. Not to mention the factthat a good deal ofpeople have tomigrate stats quite often.
And you are doing this because... you think it will be good for the game? HELLO!?!?!? If it would really be that good for the game then why didnt you implement it before launch? At this point you are only making this game worse.
Dont you see that theoretically the best market for this new ID skill is the people that migrate their stats a lot? Cant you tell that makingit the only optionwill alienatepeople, causing them to NOT use the IDs out of spite.
If you leave the regular system in, people will still visit IDs to get the majority of their stats moved when they need a big change. We could then use the old system to fine tune, or when we only need a small change. You could even increase the time required for regular migration to promote ID use.
Ack, I don't like this change. It's fine the way it is now.
ID does need some love but this is reaching.

Wow, something that finally got me to post... Excuse me if this becomes long-winded, but I'm gonna try and be as clear in my view/ suggestion as possible.
No problem with the IDs getting some love... Every profession in this game deserves the opportunity to be a viable member to the Galaxy. I'll even go so far as to say that IDs may deserve the ability to mitigate stats at a quicker pace in order to become more effective. However, they shouldn't be the sole proprietor of *MY* Base Stats... The Base HAM that you start with should be yours to tinker with as you desire. Think of it as training... You see yourself in the mirror and decide you need to add a few pounds of muscle, you tinker with the stats, and it takes time before you see the results. (Off this same theory, this would leave IDs off of the stat migration altogether... Sorry, but if you want super-results, the people you *should* be seeing would be somebody in the Doc or BE field).
That said, it seems to me that a logical choice, rather than stat migration, for an ID to have control over would be TEF and the Overt to Covert time changeover...
Personally, I think ofTEF and the time between Overt to Covert as "removing the face from the wanted posters". If you change the look of who the enemy is looking for, they'll be looking for the wrong person... ie: "Galactic Plastic Surgery", which seems to be a better fit, at least in continuity, of an ID, than that as a stat mitigator. Have an ID be able to remove a TEF or remove the time involved in the Overt to Covert switch instantly, while upping the time involved with those 2 items... Let's face it, if you single-handedly wipe out an enemy's base, odds are, that if they got out an ID on you as a warning to their faction, their comrades won't forget to look for you in under a half hour.
And it would probably be much easier for IDs to find clientele... Set up shop near starports, near the various Imp Outposts... I can tell you that I have had many more times where I need to drop a TEF quickly than I feel the need to have my stats tweaked.
It just seems to me that it fits in much more smoothly in this manner... It fits the context of what an ID is, that it would be more helpful, (I could be wrong... wouldn't be the first time, won't be the last,) to both the other players (who, if they're like me, aren't really designed well for PvP, and don't feel like taking their chances through a crowded starport,) who don't want to waitfor their TEF to go bye-bye, then wait 10 minutes for a shuttle, (raise your hand if you thought you spent your money for more play and less wait,) AND to the ID, who would probably have a more steady source of income, especially by those grinding their way through a faction... I know it may be hard to believe, but it seems to me that this would help BOTH the ID AND the rest of the player base, rather than having to nerf others in order to make one segment happy.
Then again, my house still has a moral code and locks me out if I have that TEF... (The ID that could remove TEF, and sets up shop outside my house, makes a mint off of me until the devs figure out that a house doesn't make decisions on whether or not to let you in... Unless it's that house from the Amityville Horror...)

Gunnar Pox
Bad idea devs, very bad.
Let us migrate the slow way....
Let ID's migrate us in 10mins...
kthx
