I think the armor should be a loop drop, but that master armorsmiths/craftsmen should have the ability to reverse engineer anything that they can get ahold of and have the skill to build. Then if a master got a hold of the armor he/she could figure out how to craft it...

Isn't there another time of armor, which is like my name misspelled? RIS armor or something? No one can make that, as far as I know. Is this the same situation?

My concern is that SOE is going to bow down to the ever yipping BH contingent and make it BH only. Why would that be the case? It's worn by mercenaries and warriors--not exclusively Bounty Hunters!

I'm not going to give away too many details, butI'm reallyexcited about the directionfor the dungeon and I think it's going to make bothpowerful combat characters and skilled crafters happy...

Stayed tuned in the coming weeks. Before you know it,you'll bebattling your way throughDeath Watch assassins and soldiers in search of one of the most iconic outfits in the Star Wars lore.Just make sure you know a good Armorsmith...

That sounds like proof that the Mandalorian Armor will be crafted to me. Everyone who said the Mandalorian Armor should be "BH only", please look at my earlier post, or just head over to the source:starwars.com, and do a little reading in the sections of the Databank on Jango Fett and Boba Fett. I'll just say that if you continue to say "BH only" you aren't disagreeing with me, you are disagreeing with George Lucas and the Star Wars "Canon".

Upon further reflection,I think the best way to handle crafting the Mandalorian Armor is for the schematic and layers be available as loot in the Death Watch cave. Or perhaps the schematic could be found in the cave, and the layers somewhere else, in order to spread people out and possibly add more content. I remember reading somewhere that every set of Mandalorian Armor is unique, so making the armor craftable will lead to variety among the existing sets of Mandalorian Armor. Compare the colors on looted clothing with those on clothingmade by a skilled tailor with a good fashion sense, and ask yourself if you really want the Mandalorian Armor to drop as loot. Imagine going thru all the work and fighting to finally get a set of mandalorian armor, only to get a set that is Lime Green and Pink. Or even worse if the armor drops in individual pieces as loot, you would get stuck with armor that didn't match. I know some of you fighters hate "greedy crafters", but do you hate them enough to walk around in Miami Vice Mandalorian Armor?

I like the idea of requiring certification for the armor, but I don't think it will work. Currently you must be a Commando to be certified to use a flamethrower. Right now, my Musician/Architect can walk around carrying a flamethrower. So if I can carry a weapon I am not certified to use, presumably I could walk around in Armor I am not certified to wear. So there goes that plan.

So this means Master Bounty Hunters wont be happy since they cant fight anything well at all....and since they are taking away mind damage next patch BH lost its one and only single decent attack...great

Maybe there will be a cert to wear the armor?

I think it would be best introduced into the game via Master combat profession only quests. With the quest/story line different for each profession.

For example as a MBH:
1. You get the quest from an NPC, Boba Fett for example. This provides some built in questing already as you'd be required to finish Jabba's Theme Park first.
2. Fett would only converse with you if:
A. You are a Master of a the BH profession AND
B. You have no faction affiliation. Hey, Imperials have their armor as do the Rebels, throw us neutrals a bone.
3. Fett "shuttles" You to an instanced dungeon. You alone, solo, no groups allowed. I can envision entire PA's rushing the quest in groups to outfit their entire group in Mandalorian Armor, thus, no groups. Make it a test of the individual Masters mettle.
4. Having it craftable by a Master Armorsmith only, why not. This is a good thing as it will allow you to choose the coloring of your armor. Do you really want to have the same exact set of armor, color wise, as the next guy?
5. Once you get a set you get a badge or some other marker that will prevent you from getting another set.

As a Master Commando or other class the story line and npcs involved would be different but the dungeon can of course be the same.

Just some thoughts.

Frankly, I just love spending hours of my time attacking a challange to get rewarded with a scroll I can't use.

Loot drops in this game just suck.

I knew I had been leaving something out of my posts, and here it is:

The are 2 reasons "greedy crafters" charge so much for the uber items. The first is that the combat types who loot the krayt tissues, peko-peko albatross feathers, dune kimogila scales, and king gurk hidesdemand an arm and a leg for them. Witness the price of pearls and even crystals. The 2nd is that people are stupid with their money. I recall one fellow onValcynwho payed 10 million(all the money he had) fora RIS helmet only to find out that he could not wear it! Also, I can't tell you how many times I have seen the following scenarios:

Mr X auctions a Y with a minimum bid of 100k.

Mr Z makes the first bid at 1 million credits.

or

Mr X is selling a resource with a minimum bid of 3 cpu.

Mr Z makes the first bid with 25 cpu.

In short, lay off the crafters.

It may sound crazy, but I'd rather see more helmets in the game. I will predict that you will see players in uber composite with Mandalorian helmets. It's the helmet that makes it (especially to the budget concious.)

If we could have a few more helmets per armor style, the apparent variety of armor would increase, with minimal coding.

Since the introduction of RIS, I have not seen one piece of this armor on one person. Put that in your pile of things to think bout.

also. so far all loot content in the game has been accessible to all players (albet some have a harder time accessing it then others) so why start creating content now that is Profession specific (do you want it so that only smugglers can do the corellian frigate?) .

You will probably say that see only rifleman can use the Tenloss rifle - true only rifleman can use it effectively but any one can own it. (JEDI ARE A SPECIAL CASE) Don't don't make it so that only certian people can own this. I am all for cert's but if you add certs for it then i think cert's should be applied to all armor in the game - master elite's only for composite!

Mandalorian is supposed to be lightsaber resistant correct? What would be really cool is if Jedi saber damage was changed to "lightsaber damage type" and mandalorian be the only armor with resistsagainst it. It's rediculous that sabers are kinetic damage and half the mobs in game are resistant to them, not to mention the 90% composite everywhere. This would make mandalorian how it's meant to be, as apposed to every BH saying "Nah, composite is better for jedi hunting".

I hope you are going to make this dungeon VERY difficult, and the mandalorian be sufficiently rare to obtain.

The dungon will just end up with 100's of campers. SWG = EQ in space but you never get to see the stars.

you should make it like faction armor. The stats can be like ST armor and rebel armor. Its really more for roleplaying. Its not as good as crafted items, so it will not hurt crafters.

BH can train in there investigation XPfor the armor. Or comeup with a "Mark" counter. trade in 1000 "mark" counters for a helmet. now that would keep it rare. It keeps MBH doing invest missions
