They get to play through the new quest system in Publish 10.

Oh boy! we "get to" start over.

No no no...see...it is like in golf where someone says to slower players "Can I play through?" and you let them skip by you.

So, what TH is saying is hologrinders can SKIP the new quests and become insta-jedi.

I kid...I KID!!!

My oppinion (and it's correct)

- We will still have 1 character each server.

- When we achive force sensitivity we will get one more character on that server.

- Now we can use BOTH characters entirely as we wish. (2 JEDI or 2 NORMAL or a MIX)

Thunderheart, under the new system does everyone start with 2 character slots per server even if they haven't got any Jedi or do they open up the second character slot when their main character completes these quests?

Also, if it's the latter does their main character become the jedi, the new character or both?

So far the whole thing makes no sense what so ever!

For someone who said SOE were going to communicate more effectively you sure aren't doing too good a job at the moment hence why everyone is asking obvious questions that I would have thought have obvious answers.

TH -

I think that you think you are sending a message other than the one you actually are...either that or you are a viscously sadistic person whose messages are designed to cause fear and concern.

Here is what the level-headed people are getting from your posts:

  1. Some sort of system (which you wont talk about - fine no problem there) will grant a player basic "Force Sensitivity" - which will not require significant character rebuilding.

  2. Some other system (which you wont talk about - fine no problem there) will provide for growing stronger in the Force - this may or may not cause character rebuilding...but if it does that'll be our choice to make.

  3. And at some point some other PvP based system (which you wont talk about - fine no problem there) will provide for Jedi to gain rank / level.

However the statements you've made about the 2nd slot issue seem contradictory. And clearer information about this sole issue would NOT divulge any information about those secret systems above or how they work... why then can't you ease our fears over such things?

The level-headed folks don't expect you to talk about the mysterious systems above. We only ask to understand how our existing characters are going to be influenced. (and this issueDOES alter how we will (and currently should) play our characters... both Jedi AND NON-JEDI alike). It's just needless cruelty to not give such basic information - since it does not speak to the systems above.

We understand that existing Jedi will not lose their 2nd slot. This is good information and saves a few ulcers, thank you … but we are still very concerned about some things which you should be able to at least ease our fears on without discussing those mysterious systems:

  1. Does this new 2nd slot only become available once some mysterious program is complete, or is it available straight away to use in hopes of completing that system. (Note: I'm not asking ANYTHING about that system...only asking if this new 2nd slot can be use instead of the main in the course of those systems...whatever they may be. This issue is at the heart of alot of fear and anxiety as it directly affects all our characters - Jedi AND OTHERWISE - and speaks to possibly MONTHS of wasted time right now today for ALL players ... it's downright spiteful to not answer this sort of thing... we ask for NOTHINGABOUT THE UNLOCK/PROGRESS SYSTEMS).

  2. If the 2nd slot is 'unlocked', is it unlocked in the earliest system (which by assumption is the one that grants basic force sensitivity)?

    • The concern here is that if it is only unlocked for knights (as your last comment states) … some players (current Jedi) will have an alt to bankroll their Jedi (pearls etc) to that pointwhile new Jedi will not. In any case, can you at least confirm that this 2nd slot is available before a potential Jedi is required to start altering their main characters significantly? (Otherwise…what's the point?!)

These are changes, which will both a) DRASTICALLY affect existing characters, and b) SHOULD weight how those characters should be played right now today. We don't ask that you tell us about these new systems...but surely you must tell us how our CURRENT one plays into it (otherwise how/why can we/should we play in that system for the many months before this revamp is done).

Have a heart Thunderheart.

TH this isn't a flame but do you think it would be possible for either yourself or one of the DEVS to lay out exactly what is going to happen to not only the hologrinders but also say exactly how the 2nd slot will be handled and when the person will get it. The vague answer routine has been pushed far enough, some of us have been grinding slowly since November to get a slot and we have a right to know when and how the rug will be pulled from under us.

My questions are.....

If we decide to wait for new system, upon opening do we still get a slot or do we have to advance to Jedi Knight with our main to get a slot? If it is with our main does this not defeat the purpose of changing the system? We were told a change to the system was made so we wouldn't have to destroy our main to pursue the Jedi profession.

Why change it if at somepoint you will have to decide between Jedi and your current character?

Doesn't this give an unfair advantage to those who opened before the new system goes into place?

Will those of us hologrinding (working on number 25 now) still be allowed to continue down our current path and open a 2nd slot even after the new system goes into place?Thats the only fair compensation you could give the hologrinders.

Anyone want to make a 1 million credit wager on Bria or Kettemoor that no more answers will be given today?

If credit betting is banned from the forums this is post is for comic effect and in no way entering into a legal or verbal contract to transfer credits ie from one stakeholder where in the player would represent a binding third party arrangement as set forth in paragragh 3.

Th

What i think ppl are asking, and not getting the right answer for is how do we get the second slot and will that slot be our FS slot.

From what im reading(which is still foggy)are we taking our first character on a quest, a long hard quest? If we suceed we will open a second slot for us to use as a jedi?

Or is it that we will go on a quest to see if our first character is FS and try to be a Jedi, and if we do sucseed on becoming a Jedi Knight the second slot will open for us to make a second character to what ever we want?

We would like a defined answer if the first or second slot will be our FS slot.

If I don't unlock before they change it, Goodbye, SWG. I've had enough of this bullcrap. Make up your **edit**ing mind how you want this game to go.

Wow this really sucks. What about all those people who were counting on starting a new character as a Jedi like it is now? You can't change the rules that big after the game has been out so long. At least give us the option to change our name to whatever "Jedi" name we had picked out for our new characters. Feels like a slap in the face to the people who've been working so hard for so long to get that slot.

Speaking of which, is there any word on whether or not people who've ground out 20 professions under a system YOU designed will get any sort of leg up with this new one, or will we all have to start from scratch? I know you once said we would, but I've learned my lesson when it comes to things like that.

Thunderheart what will happen with the current jedi skills who are for example in the (dark) jedi Guardian tree?

Are there any plans to Make the current jedi lower in levels to adjust them with the new system that is coming?

Or will a jedi Guardian 4-4-4-4 stay a jedi Guardian 4-4-4-4 in the new system for example?

Please answer this question because it has been asked about 20 million times already and no answers from any dev and people are very confused, so please don't give a vague answer but a clear one

So pretty much, everyone gets a Jedi? No mystery there. While the current system is bad in the effect holo grinding has on the community, it least it rewarded hard boring work with something.

This appears to be the latest in a long list of bad decisions concerning implementing Jedi into the game. To the best of my knowledge;
1. There was supposedly a system kind of like a check list of deeds and accomplishments that was different for everyone. But there was no exclusionary action that would deny your ability to get a FS character. Good idea if implemented properly. Rumors say that this system was abandoned because it wasn't producing enough FS characters for the Devs liking.

2 Holos appear because the devs say we need hints. All the hints are to master professions.

3. Holos prices get out of control and one day after a lot of suspicious downloads the previous week multiple people open there FS slot at the same time. Conspiracy theorist say Jedi Code was never in, there really was no set system till holocrons and this was a marketing driven decision due to the release of other MMORPGS at the time.

4. Lots of people complain that holos are un fair because some people or better at getting them then others or have enough money to buy them from the people that can get them. The devs decide to give everyone a holocron. In attempt derail everyone's plan to create characters on every server and cross server trade they decide to only give to characters created before a certain date. Both sets of code run or one set runs twice.

5. This know system of just grinding professions destroys a lot of the sense of community and leads to cantinas packed with afk dancers, people in med centers ignoring the wounded to heal auto tumblers, people having other people light their pets on fire to heal them, maps full of falsely advertised empty vendors and AFK combat grinding in places like the geo cave.
So are there any lessons to be learned from this? Two that come to mind are:
Giving everyone what they want depreciates the value of it.
Given a known path to a fs character a large portion of the community will work towards nothing else.
Questions I would the devs to ask them selves.
Does this quest system change anything in terms of community or just shift the results a little?

If this system is easier and more fun then holo grinding a lot more Jedi will appear. Will this create a situation where your either a Jedi or you don't PvP?

To avoid that will you then make Jedi's skills comparable to regular skills making Jedi a big let down when you get there? Jedi becoming the melee rifleman that can only uses multimillion dollar weapons. Or worse the rifleman's target.

Are you aware that every time you take something that is hard to obtain and make it easy you piss off a lot of people that put in the work to get it?

This will of course make the masses happy in the short run but what happens when everyone reaches Jedi and realizes it sucks or it's no big deal because everyone's a Jedi?
On the surface from the short blurb we have been given I would say this is a half baked idea or an idea not born from the ideals of making a better game. Everything depends on implementation and if the implementation of a quest systems is anything like the current them park quest systems that just ends with some npc telling you "you need to master this now," well, damn it's worse.

On the other hand

ANOTHER CHARACTER ON THE SAME SERVER FOR FREE!!!! WOOT WOOT do whatever the hell you want you've sold me.

I Do not fully understand the new system yet. I can say one thing though. I at first hated the Class grinding system to attain force sensitivity. Now that I have been doing it, I have learned to like it more and more. Playing different classes and doing different things. I know it is a bit late to say this, but it would have been nice to also keep the current system in tact. It is in use and has been forever. Why just wipe it out? Cant there be some options. After all, the last 2 months of my game play have been grinding classes day and night. I really enjoy doing this and Will be sadened when all the work I have done goes bye-bye with the new system. I am silent on my character now and I can comfortably master a few classes I always wanted too knowing that it might even unlock the Jedi slot for me. Kinda sux if you ask me. I know you guys are trying your best to fix things - but is the old system really broken?

Also - Will I be rewarded for my accoplishments on being Slient and only have1 step left to unlocking?

It is truely a sticky situation for guys like me. Please think deeply about this - It could do some serious damage. After all, we are all trying to Excell and by doing this we are being set back in a way. Set back about two months of my life spending hours to acheive a goal that will no longer be there in just a few weeks.
