Thread: Phase 2...

With the downtimes we've been having lately the 1814400 seconds of uptime is a long, long time. I'd say 'approximately 4 weeks' would have been closer to the truth

I guess in the grand scheme of things this may seem like a trivial matter but I personally would have liked to have my initiate before renewing my subscription. My current subscription ends in 2 days and if the shift to phase II is somehow messed up and it takes some time to fix it I will end up sucking my thumb for the next subscription period. I thought about subscribing for 3 months but at this point I'm sceptical enough to make it just 1 month for now.

Oh, well. I suppose this is actually a good thing too. I guess now they HAVE TO start bringing Eclipse up first every day or we'll fall behind in the phase shifts very fast. (Yes, I know it is not gonna happen).

All in all I'm a bit disappointed the phase shifts being tied to the uptime which isn't a strong point of this particular game. I do appreciate that the information was given though. Quite exceptional. I hope we will keep getting solid info in the future too.

We are aware that you are anxious for it to switch over. We are too :-)

A bit more info... the cycles are based on a specific number of seconds (1814400 to be precise) that is ticked off by system uptime.

The server resets the day after the cycle has ticked off. Again, the value can change based on village load. And the uptime can be affected by unexpected downtime (like maintenance, etc.).

So it really is approximately 3 weeks.

And it really will happen soon.

Hi all!

So... I did some calculations again...

Phases will change within 1814400 sec which means 21 days!

Ok... with an estimated downtime of:

2 hours a day:

7200 sec * 21 days = 151200 sec or 42h

This means phase 2 will be up around 24.9.2004

1.5 hours a day:

5400 sec * 21 days = 113400 sec or 31,5h

This means phase 2 will be up around 23.9.2004

1 hour a day:

3600 sec * 21 days = 75600 sec or 21h

This means it will be up around 22.9.2004

Hope this helps some of you with the waiting - it should be the same with the other phases - they should be up at least 24 days after the last phasechange!

This is why city updates float as well and are not tied to a real calendar.

I wonder if it takes a server reset (which would add one day to your estimates) or if it operates like cities and will happen at some random time during the day............

Since there is an actual timer within the game system, why doesn't SOE create an NPC that reveals to all players this timer.

Like create an NPC in the town that people can talk to, and he will say something like: "The city's phase will change in 30120392 seconds".

This will give people an idea of when it will happen so we aren't going crazy on when a phase will switch every month.

(o.O) --- Huh!? What happened?
(x.X) --- I'm dead
(^_^) --- LOL !!!

I'm at work now and can't play, but I'm glad to see that at least SOME of the servers have Phase 2. After reading some of these posts, I'm not sure I want to start Whips quests for my 6th tree until it gets fixed. I have enough xp from NOT-grinding (as TH said this was going to be) to fill up the 1st 3 blocks in the tree. I DON'T want to hear from a CSR (not!) saying "Wait until Phase 3" or "Wait until it comes around again". Come on guys (read Devs) get it fixed, you've had 3 weeks of us doing phase 1 to get phase 2 fixed and working. *hopes it's fixed by the time quitting time comes around*

it amazes me that SOE, as a company, still hasn't learned this lesson. stop releasing broken patches! Whip's quest in phase 2 for vehicular control has been known not to work and has been documented so in the TC forums. why would you knowingly release something that's not working as intended when so many people have been waiting for this patch? the generic "wait for Phase 3" answer from CSRs aren't going to cut it. we've been told that about the combat revamp and look where we are now? like others, i'm not going to watch all my hard work in collecting all that xpbe null and void because of anotherbug in the game that wasn't fixed before it went live.

i have been playing galaxies for a year, i love starwars, a fabulous story, i love a good game. i have persued jedi religiously. the jedi village was a godsend because i have refused to grind xp for rewards prefering a quality gaming experience. the village has just entered phase 2..............yay...............so, heres the question, why am i posting my 1st post ever as a negativism? because i have just realised it may be more fun to post this rant than playing the game. i shall continue to play however in the hope that it will evolve into the great story driven experience that will deserve my time. i am not holding my breath tho, because i may die first.

i am hugely impressed at the technological achievement that is starwars galaxies, but what happened to old fashioned good gameplay, or even story telling. Any guilds out there on chimera playing tic tac toe? or backgammon?

No offense JustG, but you and Thunderheart can spare me your lectures on the nuances of Jedi doctrine until after you have provided me a way to become a Jedi other than destroying the entire animal population of Dathomir and Dantooine. As it stands now, the only way is killing, killing, killing, and more killing....

And then killing a little more.

Once I have a way to advance as a Jedi that does not involve the mass-slaughter of innocent animals and NPCs, then you can talk to me all you wantabout being calm, passive, and having all the patience in the galaxy...
