HI! Id like to introduce myself to everyone, Im Evacai Wemar, Master Dancer.

I would like to share my experiences with the Dancer Buff:

1.When we could first buff I would /setperformance on the player to be buffed, first making sure they were watching me, then set my timer for 5 minutes. I would dance and use flourishes and light shows. The duration for the buff would be about an hour and a half. I would not stop dancing, as I was always healed. Young healers come to the cantina and I keep them busy with my light shows and flourishes so usually there is never a shortage of healing. The player would not be in my group. I experimented around with keeping them targeted and not keeping them targeted. It didnt appear to make any differance.

2.In camps I could buff my whole group as long as they were watching me. Would be a 5 minute dance with no flourishes or lightshows. Duration of about an hour.

3.After one of the recent patches, the 5 minute dance buff was suddenly giving only a 30 minute duration with flourishes and lightshows. I upped my timer to 8 minutes, no substantial changes. I went to 10 minutes, yet again, no substantial change. I finally set it to 15 minutes and now get about an hour and 50 minutes duration on the buffs.

4.Someone told me I could /setperformance on more then one player and buff more then one at a time. I tested this on two players, it split the duration on them, they each got about an hours duration out of the buff.

Now, somethings that seem to impact the Dance buff: certain foods and spices that affect the mind can impact it, in many cases cutting down on the duration drastically.

As far as not able to buff the same player again after they have died and cloned, I assumed this was a 2 hour flag since the duration is suppose to be 2 hours anyways. I havent done tests to confirm or deny this though.

Now, we should be able to buff ourselves. We can heal ourselves, it only makes sense that we can buff ourselves.

The post about going afk for 3 days macroing and suddenly being a Master dancer is ludicrious and shows the poster doesnt have a clue of how long it takes to Master the Dancing profession.

I for one, have never ever macroed afk for dancing exp or any other exp for that matter. Many of us have earned our Master Dancer at the keyboard 100% of the time!

Thanks for your time, hope this helps shed some light on the 'mysteries' of our Dance Buff.

*sigh*

flourishes do NOTHING!

just dance for 15 minutes and the FULL TWO HOURS of mind buff works. active or passive

if flourishes work then it only cuts down the buffing time (which i doubt)

Actually thats exactly what their suppose to do, decrease the time it takes to buff someone. Supposedly 5 minutes instead of 15.. big difference for someone waiting. What else would you expect them to do? Increase the power of it? Can't do that, the max power and duration is a set number based on your skill, if you had to do exactly the right amount of flourishes for it to work that would bea real nightmare to buff people.

i think the buff itself is fine the way it is, i just think the flourish til you drop doen't work consistently. flourish every 10 seconds for 5 minutes, thats 30 flourishes directed at someone, they run off and an hour later they raise hell that the buff wears off. so those 30 flourishes did what? got them an extra 15 minutes? sure this doesn't happen all the time but it happens often enough to think that flourishes don't work properly.

When I do mind buff here is what I do to get consistent results:

1) tell player to STAND up -- do not skip this step

2) tell player to do /stopwatch -- do not skip this step either

3) tell player to unequip their weapon

4) tell player to target you and do /watch -- make SURE the player starts tapping their foot

5) target player and do /setperf

6) /alarmaddin 0 8 buff complete -- when the alarm goes off in 8 minutes you are done

7) flourish every 10 seconds for 8 minutes without stopping... I use a quickness buff

I consistently have 2 hour buff duration using this formula... When I shortened the dancing time to 5 minutes the buff didn't last 2 hours anymore, I think it was lasting about an hour and half.

Good luck!

Great information Hawii,

Having the person stand and unequip weapon are not necessary to get the consistant buff results. That said having them stand does give a dancer visual feedback that the person is watching as instructed. Askign someone to unequip their weapon is just in good taste

I also use a 8 min clock and have very posative results. It should be noted that Hawii is absolutly right if you run a 8 min clock and dont floruish the buff will last 1.5 hours vice 2. This goes along with Ravenmists statement that minumum is 5min and max is 15min. making 8 min the perfect halfway point you dont have to kill yourself floruishing but you also half the max time of 15min.

Hi, I'm a master dancer.. and we tried the passive buff, and it didn't work. My good friend Kmad, also a master dancer, said that she's done it before, but recently it hasn't been working... was it nerfed?

First I've heard of this problem.. anyone else having the same problem?

I've had it work since then. I think seren and I may have been distracted by thinking about clothes or something that one time.
