Here's my problem:

I'm a Master Dancer, so I buff people.. and I have other Master Dancers buff me for when I'm working on ID. So, last night I was IDing away, and suddenly my buff is gone and I'm incapped. Yup, that's right. We really need to get that fixed.

I play a dancer on Bria. Last night I buffed a doc. I didn't pay much attention to the time, and he was running around healing people, so after a while we decided to buff him again. I guess he ended up being double-buffed or something because when it wore off his mind pool would not go above 171. We ended up dueling so it would reset.

On another note:

With a Tech skill of 1 (now 3) I buffed someone for 8mins with non-stop flourishes and light shows (do dazzle while flourishing, etc.). The customer received a buff of +800 which lasted for 1hr 15mins.

Okay first off... I've been buffing people since this newest patch came out.. and not a one of them has sent me back a reply about this incap bug. Then again, I've not tried to double/triple/quadruple buffs on people either. They get their one buff... where I try to make it last for a good long time. That's it. I've not even begun charging yet because I'm still testing out how to make the most effective buff in the shortest time.

That being said... there is no way to compare a Dancer's mind buff to any of the doctor buffs, Carver. Anyone on Kettemoor who knows me knows that I'm normally right in tow with Aryanna Kraven, a Master Doc. Having spent quite a bit of time with this Master Doctor, I actually understand what all a Doctor and also a Combat Medic go through. I also know that you don't have to Artisan to be a Doctor. You can rely on guildmates and other people to help locate your resources... So it's not mandantory to spend 77 skill points on medic... 66 skill points on doctor.. and 15 skills points on artisan. You can spend just 143 on the two skills and get something else with the rest of your points. It may put a burden on you to rely on others, but then it encourages more player interaction.. something that this game is trying to push.

Mostly Carver, I take offense to your comments about Dancers. As you said "Costto buff asa Master Dancer:

3 nights spent AFK cantina dancing with occasional requests for training

29 (entertainer) + 66 (dancer) = 95 skill points."

Now I know the skill point part has been clarified, but not every Master Dancer spends there time dancing afk. Guess what? I didn't exploit the macro system to shorten my time spent in the cantina. I utilized macros to make it so I didn't have to press a button every 9 seconds when I was playing, but I was one of those dancers at the keyboard almost 100% of the time. The fact that you claim to have gone to another server to test the equality of making Master Dancer by utilizing that exploit shows that you don't know jack about actually mastering this profession.

Now you make some good points about the costs of being a doctor. Don't get me wrong. I've heard these same points from Master Doctors, but the cost-benefit of being a Doctor giving buffs is to press a key and "BAMF!" the buff is done. That's pretty **edit** near instantaneous, and the buff lasts for 2 to 3 hours normally. However, a Master Dancer has to dance for what seems to be an indeterminable amount of time still in order to buff a person's mind double for max duration. We have to spend time actively buffing the person in comparison to your button push.

Yes, it does not cost a dancer a single credit to "make" our buff, but we do have to spend the time doing it to make the buff happen. Docs have to spend the credits to make the buffs, but they don't have to spend any of the time applying the buffs.

Hi everyone,

I play on the eclipse server and hit Master Dancer last night. I am thouroughly confused to what I might be doing wrong. On my first request for a mind buff I said sure and pulled out my trusty egg timer and asked the person to watch me ..I typed /setperform on them and went to work.(timer was set for 10 mins) I never saw the sparkley buff go over their head but their mind bar went up and off they went a happy player. Second person was in our entertainer group and he watched me for 10 mins me doing the same /setperform scenario and nothing happend after ten minutes. We tried again and the same unfortunate thing happen...no buff. Another person outside group asked I said sure he was buffed after 10 seconds and just ran off so no clue what to say about that one. Fourth gent a doctor came over asked for buff and I couldnt buff him after a half hour of trying. A fighter type asked for one shortly after and I couldnt buff him either.

I am wondering what the heck I am doing wrong or is it just that there are still alot of bugs to be worked out. My main concern is with it not working at all. I am a pretty patient so not worried about how long I have to keep trying but having the negative customer response is something I have a time with.

I dont know if my not targeting them the entire time had something to do with it (setperform was never cancelled) but lots of customers were greeting me and tipping me so I was targeting them (or attempting to) to say thank you etc.... also band was stopping and starting and bandflourishes were intermittently being thrown in on a few of the occasions. Or maybe it was on the customers end and they werent watching me the entire time when they said or thought they were.

Does the customer have to type /startwatch and /stopwatch or can they use the radial menu?

Sorry for the scrambled post and if anyone can answer this for me....even if it is a I dont know response I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance,

Sai' Polaris

CONGRATS on Master Dancer !

I always tell my patron to be sure to /watch me and also tell them to /stopwatch and haven't had any problems buffing. You can change targets once you've started buffing, I usually wait for at least a minute before doing so, and your patron can also as long as he/she does not stop watching you.

I believe tho I've read on the board about some folks getting bugged. Also if they have a mind buff from another dancer still active you can't buff over that.

I hope this helps.

*hugs*

I've been practicing the mind buffs on my husband and also on some on my guildmates when we go out hunting. Mostly it seems to work pretty well, especially when we're grouped (and I've become a pretty welcome addition to hunting parties). It's when I try to use /setperform that things start to become less predictable. My husband has reported a couple of times that he'd start watching me, I'd /setperform on him, and somehow it would cause him to stop watching. So now I usually either just invite people to group for the buff or make sure they /watch after I've /setperformed them. The hardest part is getting everyone in a large hunting group to /stopwatching before I stop dancing. Many don't pay attention and end up not getting the buff.

The duration does seem to be wildly unpredicatable, though. More or less, it seems like 10 minute of dancing = something around an hour of buff. But during some tests on my husband he'd lose his buff after only 10 or 20 minutes. And other times his buff would even randomly return after death. *shrug* It is annoying, though, because the docs in the group can buff everyone pretty much immediately, but getting people to sit still for 10 minutes while I dance is a bit of a challenge. Also, I often get mind incapped in fights because I'm the only one in the group without an uber mind buff.

Pretty basic question, but I haven't seen it answered yet:

Can you apply buffs when performing in a camp or player-owned home, or are they for cantinas and cantina-functioning factional bases only?

I would like to go along with groups on major hunts and actually re-apply their buffs on the road, but I'm worried that it might work like battle fatigue healing. If so, I'd really like to see this changed; buffing is mostly the province of Master (or near-Master) Dancers/Musicians, who no longer need or want to be chained eternally to the cantina in most cases. It's bad enough not being able to heal BF on the road.

I have been buffed by a master dancer in a camp while on a hunting trip so it does indeed work.

First I must say I am only a novice dancerbut though all these post I have to agree with an earlyer one.The key to active buff duration seems tobe linked to the amount of action points spent. If this is true then it would be interesting to see if there is action cost to a max buff duration. Could we come up with a number like 6k of action cost to get max buff duration.

I've not waded through all of the posts here... but I do 8 minutes nonstop flos.(I have not yet had to deal with having to stop during a buff due to action running out). I've only had one person have a bug with the buff where their max stat went up but their pool stayed the same.. they had to zone(shuttle) to fix it.

Here is some very very useful info for people... click Options... click Alarm.. put in 8 or 10 or 3 or what ever you want scroll down and hit Add alarm... when the time is up the alarm msg will flash on the screen and the sound will go off. Much much easier then doing it other ways.

as said before a person with 1000/1000/1000 action/stamina/quickness would have to dance longer than someone with 1000/400/400to get a better duration? (quickness (or was it stamina) affects action costs of specials remember) sorry i can't see that being the case.
