I'm new to this but I have a few comments.

Fix the lyrical/formal base dance.

I was wondering whether the jerkiness of exotic 1 is intended or stuttery. I feel like when I get to dance knowledge 4 my avatar shouldn't do her move and then kind of look confused a little before starting up again. Is there any reason why exotic 1 can't be as smooth and exotic 2, while still using the same moves?

Reduce amount of healing exp needed to skill up. (with new changes to death system its way to hard to get the required amount of healing exp to gain our skills.)

Second, Ithink you're right about the difficulty in gaining entertainment healing xp, and people are going to extreme measures. Example: while I was leveling in the cantina, the resident combat medic invited all the entertainers to "duel" with him. When they all accepted, he proceeded to area effect mind poison on them. Then the poisoned entertainers all watched/listened to each other. The experience shot through the roof. Is this what was intended? Do we have to resort to hurting ourselves in order to get experience? On the other hand, if the bar were lowered on the entertainment healing xp, people would continue to use poison to intentionally gain levels faster and potentially finish up all the entertainment healing experience before the dancing experience is even close to finished.

New flourishes, full 8 for every dance. (good ones only please)

Why the Exotic(2)flourishes 3-8 look suspiciously like some of the rhythmic flourishes is beyond me. They're jiggly, not sinewy, and don't go with the dance. And they pretty much all look the same (2 jiggly flourishes is probably enough.) I realize that the masters should get the best of the best, but maybe a few perks for the dabblers among us?

Collision detection. Some items you can walk through, others you can't. Make more of them so you can't go through them so dancers don't end up standing in the middle of tables. Also possibly make it so colliding with another player makes them stop dancing?

I like the collision idea but it's problematic because of griefing. I've had customers whom I have on /ignore stand directly on top of me while I'm dancing. I move, they move. It has happened for literally an hour once with a particularly immature customer. Now the visual on that was bad enough, being enveloped by a giant wookiee, but if he were able to interrupt my dance, that would be unacceptable.

Falling down.

Maybe only when you've tried to overflourish and timed it all wrong.

Mind-buffing self.

I don't think that this would lead to self-sufficiency because honestly it's only half the battle, one would need a musician to finish this off. And if you're both dancer and musician, chances are you have few points for other professions anyway. Doctors can buff six stats, we can buff one. I doubt people will be taking up dance just for a buff on a single stat.

"Falling down.

Err...could you explain that? Are you saying that you cause a fall when you flourish too much? I've started dancing exotic4, leaving the dance to animate for several seconds, and will fall on the first flourish I try to do. That's hardly overflourishing, and I doubt my timing had anything to do with it, especially since I *never*, and I mean *NEVER* fall when I've got a wooden staff equipped. I can spam flourishes to the point where the game stops accepting them and not fall as long as I've got that staff equipped. Did I mention that I NEVER fall when I've got a staff equipped?

Master dancers shouldn't fall, period.

Sorry - I meant falls should *only* occur (in the future) if you do some weird button-mashing with your flourishes and overload on them. I always fall on my butt for no reason right now.

Hmm.. I can see where your coming from Sultrina. I doubt its something we'll see much change on but I'll see what they have to say about it. Until then here's what I would suggest.

- Yes add more people to Admin list, but only those your sure you can trust.

- If you don't have anyone else you trust that much then instruct the other dancers to send you an email with peoples names who refused to follow the no AFK rule so you can ban them.

- Perhaps get a merchant to place a vendor in the entrance with Ad barking ability to Make it clear to those entering that this is a non AFK estabilishment. So theres no question.

With those methods I've found its pretty easy to keep the riff raff out for the most part. It may not completely solve your problem but it should help considerably.

Ravenmist:

While many of the issues deal with the mechanics of dancing, I think that one issue that really NEEDS to be adressed is the inability to register at player cantinas that were laid down by an opposed faction member. I hope you see my post on this issue, as already our entertainment resources are stretched to the limit with all the player cities currently in operation.

First and foremost, I wanted to say that you all do a great job! Not only tips but thorough descriptions of problems and how current individuals address them help us new players out immensely! Keep up the excellent work.

Now I'm really really new (as in I'm reading the manual and the players guide and everything I can get my hands on, and within my first couple days of owning the game) so try not to flame me too hard. Be forewarned, I have many nicknames in regards to my long-windednessbut bear with me, please, I do have a point to make and will eventually meander my way to it...(for those that just can't take it and want the point NOW please fast forward to the lovely green type. Thank you.)

I have been reading the thread and something that I see alot are the problems with AFK dancers. I guess thisis something I have a desire to speak up about because I got royally told off over it, simply because I was busy learning the amazing number of things that you can do with the UI and didn't greet/see someone. They went off about howAFK dancers (indicating me) disgust them, yadda yadda. So here I am baffled and still totally lost when a significantly nicer person pointed out that you go AFK automatically after a period of time. With all my windows open and trying to figure out the maps, etc...I had no idea! Not to mention I HATE not being able to see the tags above my head. I am so so so used to those in other games as referrences since I tend to get caught up in several things at once (flourishes are good at helping me do that) and forget the things I started, such as LFG...or AFK.

The same kind soul that pointed out the auto-AFK, helped me take that first tentative step into the Macro world. The point there would be, during the hours (yeesh, and hours it was) that it took toerase my previous MMORG ways of thinking and teach me the SWG ways,I was grouped with him (my new best friend) and yes, I admit, dancing and jamming AFK. Playing flourishesand exploring macro's for the very first time(apparently he is a visitor to these boards because I just read the same things he was telling me about crossing from dance to dance during flourishes. I can't do it yet, but he tried his best).

I am mentioning both of these experiences because if some of the ideas that have been suggested to eliminate the AFK'ers...time limits resulting in suspensions, booting from the game, etc...were put into effect, I could and most likely would have lost the race before leaving the gate so to speak. And been one very unhappy owner of a recently broken SWG CD to boot. I can definitely see myself dancing AFK fora while yet as I learn more and more, it never occured to me that anyone would have an issue with that seeing as I am not sure how else to let people know that I am not going to be very responsive (in my case because I have every single window open at once and taking short notes on locations of things).Maybe I got that feeling because I normally have no company other than floor tiles and empty chairs. In that regard I have been lucky (or not?), thecantina Iinhabit in Moenia, Naboo is just about empty. Have yet to see more than 4 entertainers at any given time. So I have only managed to anger one person. (That let me know at any rate)

Frequently I find myselfcrashing to thedesktop (Another bug involving 512+ram) andwhen I log back in, I am always inside the bar as if I am serving drinks. It gave me an idea...What if rather than boot/suspend a person, ifa timer started for your avatar when you entered theCantina/Hotel/Theater regardless of who you were. When the timerwas upyou would be promptedby a pop-up box, or something to that effect, regardless of whether you have AFK up or not that saysyou have 30 seconds to click okor somethinglike that. If you do click the box an effect goes off and/or you get a chunk of exp. If you do not click the box, then you would beauto-moved out of the main areas and into aback room of some sort. Possibly not allowing your character to gain exp until moved out of that room? Just an added thought, though I think the moving out of the way should be enough. You and I know it will never happen where the avatar is moved totally out of the building because that could put the avatar in danger of thugs, no matter how much we would enjoy it.

The only reason I give for not being totally against a person playing music/dancing AFK is because of places like the empty Moenia, where I am frequently the only one. I know I would rather listen/watch an AFK individual than be stuck sitting alone for a long time waiting to regen on my own. That's why I like the idea of the pop-up box for everyone in theCantinas/Hotels/Theaters period, so that you can clear up some of the congestion of bodies in the busy cities, yet not turn the smaller/less populated ones into ghost towns. Most of what I have read in regards to the issue of AFK'ers only addresses a few sides of it. One- being AFK'ers in player run Cantinas which seems to be a horse of another color anyways, and, two- being overcrowding in already crowded cities due to AFK and ATK'ers together. I just wanted to speak up in defense of those of us that are on the flip side, not wanting to travel to a more crowded city but also not wanting to deny their neighbors the opportunity to enjoy a little music and/or dancing to soothe their lonely, troubled thoughts. I know it may never happen, but I know for a fact that timers can and have been added in long after the release of a MMORG so maybe it'll happen....

I do not know why I am bothering to post on an old, unused board that was supposed to address our issues with our profession. It is obvious that no one outside of the players is reading it. Correspondent, Dev, whoever, has dropped us from all concern, and Dancer Issues haven't been addressed, since the game went public. I am dusgusted by the whole thing. This is a pathetic way to treat your customers.

Players want? What know you of what Players want? For two years have we run Galaxies. Our own counsel will we keep on who is to be listened too! A Player must have the deepest pockets, the most simple mind. These a long time have we watched. All their lives have they looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never their minds on what bugs we had. Hmm? What we had not fixed. Hmph! Adventure. Heh! Excitement. Heh! A Player craves not these things, only uber L33tness. You are pwnd!

Bandflourishes should give exp to all, not only the people who are doing them.

In my opinion as a Master Dancer and founder of a performance group that has been together for about five months

1. Group commands for dancers that allow /groupstartdance, /groupchangedance, /groupstopdance and perhaps even /groupdistract 1 etc... also Synchdance? - This is a huge one for me, as now I spend the majority of my time online practicing or performing with my entertainment group.

2. More and Different Flourishes for every dance that doesnt already have eight.

3. Formal and Lyrical Dances. We dont even use these dances in our performances because they looks so horible and its impossible to time startingthem so we stay in line.

4. Player Theaters - kind of a general entertainer isssue. The current Theater does not allow you to drop anything on the stage, this prevents our musicians from being able to play the Nalrgon and omni box. And of course we cant put any lights on stage to brighten things up when it gets dark.

5. Group Split Tip command. Maybe something that would allow the leader to turn this on with a confirmation box that pops up for all members of the group asking themto accept or delince disband from group. Its tough keeping track of tips sometimes during a performance while you are also concentrating on bandflos, outfits, music and dance. While we have a treasurer that keeps the payment for the gig, I would like to be able to split evenly all the tips we get to all performers.

6. Self buffing

7. Ease of buffing

AFKer's - Hrmmm, I used to be totally against afker's, having never done it myself and I will still never do it myself, but I do like to allow my entertainer's from the performance group to go afk in our cantina as long as its done off the stage, leaving that area open for live performers. I really have mixed feelings about this, I do not like afkers in public cantina's. They crowd up the floor and are pretty annoying with the macro spam text, but I see nothing wrong with continuing to let them go afk in private buildings or perhaps even restricting them to a side or back area of public cantina's. I do see the need for them on some planets where entertainer's rarely travel, but I dont like the fact that they take away and encroach upon the playing of folks who are at the keyboard.

What I would add in the list.

- fix exotic1 basic dance

- when using band flourishes, everyone should get exp for them and not only the person doing the command
