Thread: New Inspiration Buffs

I like the idea a lot of the radial menu option.

Another thing I'd REALLY like to see is a system message of the names of the people watching/listening to you like the ones you get when doing the Perfomance quests from the Theater Manager, when you need to promote yourself. When doing the quest, it was nice to be able to say, "Thanks John" (or whoever). Most of the times you can tell who is watching you, but when it's crowded, in a public cantina, you can never really *know*. I think it would help with the general interaction between theperformer and audience.

Many of the entertainers, I'm around, are pretty close. We'd probably get around to each other, that "Billy" always watches me, but never tips. If the new buffing is going to be such a passive experience, there needs to be more ways or even little ways to ensure we have some control or knowledge over what we're doing.

I am unsure how to react to this proposal.

I am glad they are considering to drop the grouping/setperform+flourish like crazy buffing process in favor of a buffing process that does not interrupt my performance or chatting.

On the other hand, relying on tips without any control does have an impact on an entertainer's income. Relying on tips works for established entertainers, and it surely is an incentive for entertainers to get to know people and build up some regular audience. It does not exactly impact on myself, buffing is not an important source of my income, but others make much of their creds by buffing.

Having any novice entertainer buffing the same as a master dancer/musician, just taking a little longer, does not sit well with me. It is a slap in the face for all masters out there.

So, some form of control should be given, whether in the form of a denial of service list that actually stayed in memory, or in form of a pop-up you have to click (with default = no). Anything more involving is not to my taste, I do not want to jump through hoops to buff, nor do I consider buffs as important as to structure my performances for them. And only master entertainers and novice dancers/musicians should be able to buff, with the lower skilled buffs limited in duration.

And I really hope they will keep battle fatigue in game at the current level, and that the TC5 battle fatigue is just there (or the absence of BF as is the case) to facilitate testing of combat.

I don't want to see a double mastery counting for more myself... Don't get me wrong I used to be a double master, but the problem would be then same as it is now, people with single masteries just wouldn't be wanted. I mean why get a 10% buff from a dancer/rifleman when the dancer/musician gives a 50% higher one. We still have the same problem of a single mastery being seen as worthless as just getting mind or secondaries buffed as in the current system. Unless there's a way for a pair, one dancer, one musician, to provide the same level of buff as the double master, I can't support any system that marginalizes taking a single mastery so much...

??? So spending another crap load of SP should mean exactly nothing ?

They are spending a ton of work trying to get the CU so that there ISN'T a lot of profession overlap, In the crafting game how many of the different crafters make exactly the same thing ?

Ugh...

If 2 seperate people can give the same buff as a single double master then that's fine. Double master giving a faster buff for same amount, or can buff for longer? Fine, a single master can still compete. If people are shunning single mastery professions because they can't give a reasonably level buff, then it's not fine.

If I read everything correctly, a double Mastery simply increases the speed of the buff further. Nothing can make the Inspiration buff longer or better, only faster.

I wish the scaling affected mission level/payout too for us. Ok, I know it's a random thought and doesn't belong in this thread, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Ummm ok Question... these Inspiration buffs... do the differentiate at all from Musician to Dancer? I mean... if they don't then... its kinda pointless to have given us those lovely 16 pts off of ID, so we could master all the Entertainer/Dancer/Musician/ID right?

Nevermind someone pointed out that dbl mastery shortens the time...

*yippee* /sarcasm off

Well, I don't think the single mastery/double mastery thing is going to affect me because I simply don't believe thatanyone is going to pay me to passively buff them. The playerbase griped as it was that our mind and secondary buffs didn't cost us anything before, so what exactly is going to change their mindset now?

If the Inspiration Buffs go in as is, I'm probably just going to pretend they don't even exist. Because, for as much as I see them as a means of financial support for entertainers, I might as well. And, yes -I do remember what it was like to get tipped for healing wounds and BF. Back then getting a few hundred credits an hour was a lot of money to an aspiring little dancer who bunked in the dorm with the other girls and hoofed it around town. Now that just won't cut it as far as meeting expenses goes.

Besides, they'll just watch and/or listen to Roho because he's working toward Grand Master Entertainer and will be the one giving those oh-so-necessary faster buffs. So much for the usefulness of the fixed dual buffing, huh?

Gah . . . perhaps I shouldn't try to respond in the middle of the night when I'm just trying to get back to sleep . . .

If the passive buff, just watch us and get your buff, is the way SOE wants to go then I feel it must apply to every profession in the game. If you want something you can just take it. See someone with nice armor, target then and type /stealstuff and you have your new armor. The same would apply to vendors, harvesters, etc. just target and /stealstuff and whatever you want is yours.

Yep, free everything for everybody!

Genius idea!

Oh wait - that'd make the economy collapse.

Eh, they'll just screw US over, then. No money for us.

The Devs don't seem to understand that anything that anyone can get in this game for free WILL be gotten. If they don't HAVE to pay, they won't. Yes, there are those who will pay out of their good conscience. But, as many of us have seen, those people are in the minority. I don't know if it's the concept of anonymity in the game, or the complete and total threat of repercussions for stiffing an Entertainer, or what.

But, if they make us completely passive, I hope I can steal all I want from other players' benefits without ever speakinga word to them. I could use some food, harvesters, clothes, pets, buffs, vehicles, hide, bone, meat, and anything else I can get - and it'd better work with just one / command, and they'd better be completely oblivious to me getting their benefits, too. Fair is fair.

Otherwise we're singled out as the folks who get robbed of their skills by anyone who types /watch or /listen.
