(sorry my forum thingy has been really messed up =( )
I am a female and I have played both female and male toons... the females have been accused a few times of being male, but my male toon has never been questioned, lol. I am an avid roleplayer, and try to keep 'immersion' in the SWG world at all times. I send a tell <ooc> to my friends I play with if my toon is 'upset' but Im laughing irl, just to make sure they know its 'in character' and such. Only a few people I've run into have given me a hard time about being a girl or aroleplayer, but here's one example:
I was shocked, a long time ago (I have played since launch, but this forum login is new) when I had some very rude and senseless verbal attacks. Once I was dancing with my elegant Twi'lek lady toon, and greeted a guy as he walked in to the cantina ( I greet everyone, btw). His first response was "Shut th **** up, you're just some pathetic fat guy wanting free tips". I was simply shocked! I was too new then to know about /deny or I would have, as I was the only entertainer in the cantina, lol. That was also right after some article in a game magazine pretty much stated no real girls play MMORPGs (we know that ain't so)
If someone asks if Im a real girl, I tell them 'yes'...if the tell gets sent saying "A/S/L?" (age - sex - location) I politely reply " well, Im a real live girl, but I keep rl and game totally separate, this is RP" and 100% of the time the response has been along the lines of " Oh.. ok, cool, well, have a good one" and zero more conversation from that guy =). Most times if asked, the guy is simply curious, and usually says so, or that he just didn't want to flirt back if I wasn't female, lol. I flirt alot, but I'm a savvy gal, and I can control the situation with no problems. Most people just enjoy being playful in the cantinas but if you ever get someone being a real creep, just /addignore them, that's what its for =).
My dancer gals are flirty, and my combat girls are somewhat shy, and the pleasure of roleplaying each one differently is the most fun I have in this game =). The funniest thing is the handful of girls who get a crush on my one male toon (master chef), because 'he's such a gentleman and so helpful' rofl. If they start to hit on him, he just blushes, and quickly runs off to craft! =)

speaking of girls and MMOs, it was fun to see some of the folks' reaction at fanfest when they saw girls

Not that's something I would've loved to see. I wanted to attend, but with a toddler and my hubby taking classes it was pretty much impossible. Maybe next time

I don’t think I have ever been directly accused of being a male and most likely wouldn’t care one way or the other. But I have heard people talking on the subject in the cantina few times. Usually I just either ignore it or try to be the voice of reason by pointing out how very little difference it makes who is who in RL.
However one time, about 8 months ago or so, I did fly off the proverbial hinge when I seen another dancer being propositioned and when she refused the person automatically proclaimed therefore she must be a male and started talking to her very ugly in /say. Had the person been at least half as smart as he was rude he could have had me suspended/banned for what I had to say to him. True it was wrong of me, but his “if you don’t want it, must be because you are a man” attitude just made me furious.
As for me playing male characters, well I did try it one time in EQ, but the poor little male gnome didn’t last long before he got deleted. He just came across way too feminine and was a center of never-ending jokes in guild chat. Most likely his main downfall was because everyone knew he was my alt and my RL husband being in same guild with me never let a chance to jokingly torment him slide by.
I think the funniest moment for me while playing little gnome male was when I run up to my husband’s character and /hugged him. My husband immediately turned away from his computer, looked at me and said “Girl, you can’t do that! (character’s mane) is a man!” And then we just busted out laughing about how silly it sounded.
But I do agree with those who pointed out if people decide to take the relationship out of the game (mentally or physically) then honesty should be an absolute must.

Jest3r thought I was a guy until he met me at fanfest. Tee hee.
Yeah, Pappi is right, fanfest was quite a trip. I'm pretty normal and don't usually attract a whole lot of attention, so it was odd seeing guys gaping at me and not even trying to hide it - uh, hello, I can see you, yeah YOU. I suppose I should have wrangled more free drinks out of it.
Nerf Fanboi!

Hey I live in Austin too
Woot! Well, then you'll certainly be able to make it whenever I should get around to attempting to make a large scale entertainer party in Austin - sort of like a mini-fanfest.
(Lest anyone get excited, this is just in the 'random idea' phase in my head right now).
My idea was to get all the ents together, we'd obviously have music and dancing, maybe some face painting (or tattooing, for the brave) for the IDs - we could have times where we'd brainstorm ideas for the upcoming revamp, and if enough of us would be showing up, I imagine we could convince a dev or two to show up as well (given that it wouldn't be too far away).
Hopefully I'll get motivated enough to push myself beyond the 'random idea' phase into the 'let's get this party started' phase

Par-tay! (I think Florida would be better though O_o )
Anyway, on the subject.....I've been labelled as male, female, straight, gay, bi-sexual, and even a lesbian. (Don't ask
)
I'm a 21 yr old male that loves women. Now, I know I'll flirt with anybody (male or female) no matter what mood I'm in. Til is very much a fun-loving Twi'lek. Ahazi.Eira was a female, but also very friendly. Somehow Til has been accused of being controlled by a player of the opposite sex more than Eira has. I'm under the impression that the males just want Eira to be controlled by a female so badly that they refuse to be crushed by asking about my real gender. I've announced to several men that seem to have fallen hard for her that I'm played by a male. The standard response is "I was hoping I wasn't hitting on a guy." Sometimes that's followed by cursing (aimed at either myself or them.) Always present is that one reaction: shock. It seems I could make a convincing female.... *shudder*

/whine but it's not the ents!
So yeah, I've been meaning to go to one of those, but this idea is ent-centric.. no offense to other players, it's not that I don't think you're cool or worthy, but I just have gotten to somewhat know a bunch of the ents on these forums, and I think there's a large number of super-cool people here that I'd like to know even better (and what better way than to get partying!).
