That's what i use my macros for, to not have to press the flourish keys, not for going AFK.
Why not kick players off the server (not ban, kick) that don't type or interact with the game instead?

When Entertainers complain about having to push keys to flourish, it makes me think two things.

1: Many Entertainers do not listen to the in-game music anymore, having gotten tired of the same songs over a year ago.

2: If it troubles you to press buttons to do things in a game, I'm not sure that anything in SWG is really for you. Combat is pressing the same keys to use abilities, the only difference is that Musicians can in fact plan 5 button-presses ahead!

If anything, I am thankful that we did not have our ability queue removed as Combatants did! Some may respond that combat is more visually or otherwise stimulating than entertaining, but I do not feel that way. I find entertaining to still be exciting and fun on a day to day basis, or I wouldn't be a member of a band, nor the first and still Master Entertainer on Eclipse I am.

Now don't get me wrong, maybe if they made the "flourish-queue" longer than perhaps 10 flourishes in a row it might work.

The songs in Star Wars Galaxies get very repetive after a while.

Well, let me tell it as it is... I will be delighted to have a live entertainer in our city cantina. I like to socialize and I tip generously when given a chance.

But I am too lazy to go to another city to get a buff. In the absence of a live entertainer I will have my buff bot doing its thing, afk, with or without support from SOE.

Note, for those that are implying otherwise (keypress complaints), they said they are getting rid of recursive macros, not macros. You should still be able to make a nice long flourish macro, which will let you perform, and do other social things at the same time. Perfectly acceptable and legal to make a macro that runsseveral minutes then tells you it's complete, requiring you to run it again.

Macros aren't going away at worst the ability to loop one endlessly is all you lose. Your routine should still work and if it runs for a minute then the most you have to do is push a button once a minute. If it runs 3 minutes well then ....

but it didnt stop me from being a big star makeing my tips threw my dance and music buffs. what pist me off is the devs took our buffing ablitiy to a free for all buffs. for the past 2 weeks since the CU went live all my regualrs havent been comming by or sending me a tell to buff them anymore and ive made squat. i use to be able to pull in on tips alone 100-200k a week. now im pulling 15k in 2 weeks. JOY

--------------

15k in 2 weeks? must not be around much, i regularly make at least 25k a night, which doesn't include the money i make doing ID, and that's SINCE the CU.

picture this,,,a year agom they announced the removal of afk macro's...they are still here

picture this....at game launch they announced some dances were not completed but would be in a timely manner.......exotics anyone?

picture this....we have a CU upcoming that will only effect the combat professions, entertainers have nothing to worry about.....

picture this....the CU will remove afk buffer's..CU's been live how long? every buff ive gotten has been from a AFK entertainer. nice job streamlining it for AFK's btw

and now ere being told "we got stuff in the works to make the entertainer professions do more at higher levels then just a crappy insperation buff"

this game has been live for close to 2 years, in that time weve been constantly denied the one simple thing weve asked for from day 1...finish the freaking exotic's....what do they give us? quest's...that dont work, or 90% of the population just doent know how to make them work,,,,,wait, a quest for a new dance!...oh yeah, that ones buggy and every entertainer ive seen do it, at some point mentions "i dont know what i did, but i completed that part",,nice explantion of how the devs seem to work on the entertainer professions

but wait! they added a few new dances just recently,,,and i gotta admit, other then tumble takieng a are about the size of a football field to do it in, they actully got them fairly decent..although i never seen breakdanceing done like that before but all aside, they did a decent job on that

and that shows they know how to code in dances...but again, lets reiterate,,,FINISH THE EXOTICS...nope we get new dances so maybe we will forget they havent finshed that yet

then along come the CU, the biggest kick to the lower anatomy we ever had...master a dancer or music,,106 skill points...novice entertainer 15 skill points.........a novice ent can do the exact same utility as a master. gee thanks, why not just tell us flat out you have no intrest in the professions and wish you had never even put them in the game in the first place?

im sorry for the rant, but on Valcyn i was devbatably the first male master dancer on the server, a profession i never dropped, even worked around it for various PvP builds, unlocked Jedi with the full intentions of being a Master Dancer Jedi......then i log into the CU get a chance to see how everything works...

Entertainers have been made complety pointless, they shouldnt even have to spend skillpoints for them anymore, may as well make it like Pilot with no points...but you say "wait, stuffs coming" i been waiting for almost 2 years, and the stuff that keeps coming, is coming outta the southend of a northbound moving Dev....

one of the most dedicated dancers to the profession, never even used a macro when ATK, did live shows, knows every flourish to everydance from momory, named most of them and would call them out when performing,,,,that guy now has 0 skill points in what the fine Devs decided to make a pointless profession,,,,my hats off to you, well done

AFK entetrainers are still in existance spamming away that they need me to look at them so they can get experience and to tip because they need my credits to survive.... Whenever they get back to the keyboard.

Best AFK spam I ever saw was actually for a Guild Invite! Some was AFK spamming to join a quild and insisted on "a guild that helps it's players!" Well, pal, seeing as you didn't even feel the need to play enough to ask for a guild in person, not sure how much help you'd be getting.

I've actually seen a guild invite where the guy pretty much says "everyone else sucks, reb sucks, we're the best around" but in kiddie "pretend gansta" language. I can't reproduce it, I might hurt myself trying

I wouldn't hold your breath on it actually happening before the end of this month. If it were, I bet it would have been in the patch notes for the upcoming Publish 17, and despite all the other fixes and changes, there was no mention of changes to recursive macros. We also haven't gotten any further verification of this promise from any other devs or for our correspondent.

On the bright side, though, I still take the original comment as a good sign for two reasons. First because I think it indicates that they are still planning on carrying through with this design direction, and also because the fact that they even made such date commitment suggests that they probably have a coding solution in the works and likely near completion. Even if they don't make it by the end of the month, I think there's a good chance we might still see something shortly thereafter. We can hope! *crosses lekku*

Yup..no verification of this. I, too, see it as a good sign. Their comments indicate that this is still recognized as a major problem that needs to be addressed.
