Dancer Archive
Thread: Top 5 issues You have with our profession.
I will never understand you people. When I wanted my laser carbine sliced, I didn't macro my way to Master Smuggler. I went out and FOUND one to do it for me (actually I stumbled upon her by luck but that's not really the point). When I wanted that laser carb in the first place I didn't macro my way to Master Weaponsmith just to make it... I took my 10K or whatever it cost and bought the thing.
The problem, if I may say so, is too many people want to basically play the game without anyone else at all. They want it to be like a solo computer game on their home PC, something like Baldur's Gate, where they are run an entire party and need no one else. Well, that is not what a multiplayer online game is all about.
What a waste. You are paying real world money for a second account just because you are too cheap/lazy to pay a few K of fictional in-game money to get a real doctor and real dancer to buff your stats? Am I the only one who thinks that's insane?

Hehe, well, I spend a lot more time buffing my guild then I do buffing myself. I gave away 30K yesterday to the dancers in my group feeling sorry for them cuz they get lousy tips.
It has nothing to do with not wanting to spend money or lack of a social interaction thing. In fact, you ask anyone that knows me (Mafoo/Watts Edison on Radian) they will tell you exactly the opposite.
It’s purely an accessibility issue. If you look at the Metrics just announced, you will see there are 0.97% Novice Dancers, if you look at the numbers more closely, that really means 2.19% (if you assume all the characters with no elite class aren’t played). That’s 1 NOVICE dancer out of 46 players. I can only speculate, but my guess would mean 1 out of 300 players are masters (1 out of 6 dancers). This means the odds of being on, say, Dathamor and finding a master Dancer is very very rare. I could pay the 4,800 credit round trip to Cornet, on the off chance I will find one, but I would rather have (For me and my guild) one available for us at whatever hunting spot we choose.
As for the “paying for 2 accounts thing” I play 5-6 hours every weekday, 10 a day on the weekends. So the total cost with paying for two accounts is 14 cents an hour. I feel I am steeling from SOE as it is ![]()
Lastly, as for hijacking this thread (sorry!) My first post did have 5 topics for improvement. Every post there after is in response to someone, so please don’t hate me ![]()

Oh, Ravenmist, I hope that I am not too late for this idea...
What if there was a portable dance floor, or a portable bar that you could take with you? I know that right now Battle Fatigue can only be healed inside the cantina. PBJoker, you do realize that you can dance at a campsite to restore mind wounds, right? Anyway, the portable bar would have a maintanence fee. You have to keep the bar stocked, right? After setting out a bar at a camp, or in someone's home, you could then dance to restore Battle Fatigue. The cost to buy/construct the portable bars would be significant, so that not everyone would have one necessarily. And the maintanence would continually drain, whether deployed or not. There you have a reasonable money sink with a means to heal Battle Fatigue outside of the cantina.
Ravenmist, you still listening? ![]()

maybe he's on an adventure world and he doesn't want to have to pay 15k (ticket costs + buff since finding a master dancer on an adventure world can be very difficult) for a single buff that could be kaput when a rancor spawns on his head.
or maybe he just doesn't want to have to pay judgemental pricks like you. oops! i'm assuming too! sorry!
My biggest issue now, as someone who's been a Master Dancer and is looking at the profession from the other side is... No one entertains!! No one greets you as you walk in the door, no one asks you how your hunting has been, no one engages you in any way at all.
Was I just an oddity as an entertainer feeling that I had to keep the clients entertained and actually earn my tips? Where's the chatter that used to permeate the cantinas?
I was in the cantina in Theed last night on Tempest, and of the 15 or so entertainers, at least 5 were AFK with tags up, and the rest were stone silent. One or two spouted a "tnks" for a heal, but nothing more. I was in the cantina for 10 minutes and no one said a SINGLE word to me. My partner got limited conversation simply because he pried it out of one or two of them. What's the point of being an entertainer if you're not even going to interact with the people around you? You might as well be AFK with the rest of them.
Anyway, that's my vent. I'm just finding it so frustrating that the average entertainer can't even be bothered to entertain anymore.

Yep, and Doctors can heal wounds in a camp. But Doctors with a droid out can do every doctor function anywhere outside. They can sit at starports and sell buffs. They can go to high level PvP loc’s and sell buffs. I find this odd. In real life, setting up an environment to be entertained seems to me a lot easier then a medical center. I mean, Dave Mathews (Master Musician) anywhere with a guitar can entertain. But if I am going to take a shot from a doctor it better be in a clean environment.
So why can doctors do there thing in more area’s then entertainers? I like your idea of a dance floor a lot better then a droid. I don’t think you should have to pay upkeep on it though; you’re already in the lowest paid profession. Maybe after extended use you need to buy another one so what ever class that crafts it can maintain a market.
I think it would be better if the person's mind slow went up while they were watching. Then if you know the effect is to double their mind, you stop when their mind is doubled. If the effect is to give them 50% more mind, then you stop when they hit 50%. The duration of the buff should always be maxed andso the variable would be how much buff they get with the longer you play the bigger the buff (until max).
i like that idea alot.
1) AFK Dancers (once again) - Fix is NO XP GAIN WHEN YOU ARE AFK, and kick after 30 minutes. Long term AFK macro'ers usually park in the best spots. Kick AFKs from Groups after 30 minutes as well.
2) Reduce falling chance based upon tier in the profession. A master dancer should rarely fall. For those who say they should never fall, refer to the olympics. Even pros mess up once in a while, but not as often as we are programmed to do now.
3) Fix the boring, low paying Missions - I don't even bother to run missions anymore because I make more credits in tips in 10 minutes than I do for travelling out of my way for a measly mission payout. The missions are boring and most of the time meaningless. Make group participation in missions a priority and raise the credits for them.
4) Registering location - Does anyone see anything happen on the map to show the location is manned? It would be nice to be able to register anywhere, not just in cantinas... Say perhaps you open an outpost?
5) Ability to heal anywhere, not just cantina. I can dance at a StarPort for XP (and make great tips during those long, boringwaits for a transport), but being a dancer, it should be encouraged to be able to dance anywhere and still heal and gain XP. Street-performer ring a bell? It would make the towns interesting!
That's my 2 cents worth.
Yes, still listening, think I have my list almost completed. Will be posting it for some feedback probably on Monday, but if I'm lucky I might get it done today. (Friday)

1. Falling its purposeless even brand new dancers in real life rarely fall, we have a sense of our center. There is no reason for it, it makes the profession look bad. Get rid of it completely. Don't lesson it, remove it. Its already unfair that musicians can never critical and we do often. I'd rather not nerf them. Get rid of falling.
2. Action cost for our flourishes, we tire out much too quick and can't do a five minute show with flourishes without stims.
3. Poor looking basic dances with formal/lyrical
4. Incomplete non motion captureddances
5.Need more choreography tools for making a dancer creative andprofessional looking /changebanddance etc.
Yes those are my top issues. I don't care about missions. I doNOT mission in another profession to earn money. I do not stay inpublic cantinas. I don't like AFK dancers but then I don't have to put up with them in private cantinas and at parties. I do not care about healing people in the field although its nice to do. I care about putting on a good professional show.

the solution?
entertainer camps. lol. takes 2 entertainers to put up, base it off the entertainment healing line. no medical healing but its able to be put up everywhere even in a city. better yet put in reduced BF healing and put the final nail in the NPC city cantina's coffin!!!! mauahaa death to the stinking cantina!!!
Mind buffs take too long. If you are buffing a group of people (say 4-5) it can take 30-45 minutes to do all the buffing. By that time, the first person you buffed is 1/2 way to going back to normal.
