AFK - unattended macroing
This will be going away soon. There will be some issues around losing the ability to do things with recursive macros or while AFK which will need to be addressed as part of this effort, but overall it is better for the game environment to not have this as a sanctioned behavior.

People will just stop putting the AFK flag up. Just like spammers stopped putting it up when the ignore AFK chat was added.
*looks up one post*
But it looks like my point is moot.

Buff bots are convientent and deliver a well needed service to the public in the most effecient manner possible. While many entertainer may not like them, I as an entertainer do. They are no harm to me. If people dont want to be cornered into social interaction is it really right for us to force it on them?
I do agree that the enteretainers need some more attention, but if its at the expence of our macros and the ability to run a buff bot at our choosing, then no thanks.
On a side note: Please STOP calling me a troll because i don not agree with your view on how our profession should work. I find it offensive, and not contributeing to anything positive.
I agree with you. My wife is a MDancer and is the keyboard alot. However when we are at work or sleeping we put her char on auto pilot. She tries to provide 24hr a day service so that people can play the game. It's unfortunate that you must have buffs to play but thats the way it is. The combat professions in the MO need her mind buffs. They are asking to be invited to her group all day and night long. The macro I set up for her sends out a message every 130 seconds so its not spamming or annoying anyone.
Some people *roll eyes* take offence to this and try to grief her by grouping with her and not disbanding. She is paying 15 bucks a month to provide a 100% free service to other players. I love having 24hr accessto dancers. It saves meso much money on food and drink and it keeps me alive in PVP. Macros are a great aspect to the game. I dont mind AFK players as long as they are not spamming the area or AFK spawn camping.

'AFK spawn camping' effects your combat proffessions far less than AFK entertainers are effecting other live entertainers. While its easy for you to see the point of view of an afk buff bot, maybe you should look from the eyes of someone who has seen cantina's change from a place where no one is ever afk, everyone is just chatting all the time, groups of 10-15 without a single afk.............
To what we see today. Buff bots represt to me everything that is wrong with dancers and musicians.
But since thats going to change hopefully soon, not really much pointdebating it further
Uhh I've had several dancer alts on various servers for over 8 months. I know whats it's like. I dont understand why so many people get mad. As long as the bot is not spamming who cares. Macros are a good thing. Why would I want to push all the stupid buttons and keep track up time when I can do a little programming so I can actually talk with my customers. I pvp alot and buff bots are great for PVP battles. My guild has 3 of them in our private cantina. I cant tell you how much of a blessing this is. ATK entertainers cannot provide constant 24 hourservice. My wife is not a bot. She plays as much as she can and leave her char on as a service to all the hardcore grinders and pvpers. Some of you other dancers seam way out of touch with reality.
Thru the eyes of a PVPer the bots are great. Thru the eyes of an entertainer bots dont bother me at all unless they are constanly spamming.
I play at odd hours because I have a strange work schedule. When I want to grind F-S first I vist the auto buffer Doc then I hit up the buff bots in our cantina and start grinding. Buffs are required to play this game if you are playinga combat profession. My TK specials will kill me in 5 secs with out them. And this is all the devs fault. Dont blame buff bots for all your problems. Many of the bots belong to PVPerswho use them as their alt to bring in extra income and be self sufficient.

Yes there are problems with the entertainer professions however there is no need to get in huge arguments with people of the same profession. There are too few entertainers

I've had several Entertainer alts as well as a couple of my "main" avatars for 18 months now. Before I discovered the joys of Entertaining, I spent a lot of my time with my other avatars in cantinas just talking to the Entertainers.
Yeah I never said I didn't like talkin to anyone in a cantina....
I dont understand why so many people get mad. As long as the bot is not spamming who cares.
First and foremost, all respect has been lost for live Entertainers because our time has been cheapened by those who have to spend no time gaining the same skilltrees we do.
Umm Ako spent a lot of time grinding dancer.
Macros are a good thing.
This isn't in contest.
What are you talking about here? I never said it was..
Why would I want to push all the stupid buttons and keep track up time when I can do a little programming so I can actually talk with my customers.
The majority of live Entertainers do use macros for this purpose and also to create great looking and sounding shows. Interaction and Entertainment are part of our primary function. Our job is not to whore ourselves out to every random person who wanders by wanting us to service him.
Umm I dont mind helping people
I pvp alot and buff bots are great for PVP battles.
BUFFS are great for PvP battles.
Yes there are. If you dont have a mind buff my geo will kill you in a few seconds
My guild has 3 of them in our private cantina.

It's Great
I cant tell you how much of a blessing this is. ATK entertainers cannot provide constant 24 hourservice.
Untrue. No individual live Entertainer can provide 24/7 service, but between all the Live Entertainers out here, there's always going to be some online, and therefore it is absolutely possible for ATK Entertainersto provide a constant 24 hour service.
Thats so not true. I'm online right now on corbantis...guess what no live entertainment
My wife is not a bot.
No, she is not. Not when she actually plays, anyway.
You seam really bitter and angry
She plays as much as she can and leave her char on as a service to all the hardcore grinders and pvpers.
The MOMENT your wife steps away from the keyboard with the intention of leaving her avatar there to AFK buff, it becomes a bot.
No she is a Master Dancer
Some of you other dancers seam way out of touch with reality.
Which realities do we seem to be out of touch with? The reality that AFK macrotainers and buffbots have decimated our professions? The reality that tips have steadily decreased as the number of bots increased? The reality that those of us who care enough to play live are no longer respected because of the bots?
My wife made 1 million this week in tips working her tail off at the MO for free
Thru the eyes of a PVPer the bots are great. Thru the eyes of an entertainer bots dont bother me at all unless they are constanly spamming.

Oh, beautiful. You have a docbot too. At this point I really have to start wondering why you bother playing a Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Game at all. It seems to me you're playing a single player game instead of trying to glean the excitement and interaction an MMORPG offers.

No our guild has a buff bot that charges 12k for a nice set of buffs. Some times I dont like playing with other people because well so many people are jerks.
Buffs are required to play this game if you are playinga combat profession.
This is a myth long ago refuted. Buffs are not a requirement, they certainly help (otherwise they wouldn't be in the game), but they aren't absolutely necessary.
Right....go into Death Watch Buncker unbuffed....try to do the corvette mission unbuffed and dont die....PVP unbuffed....go kill rancors unbuffed...kill lord nyax unbuffed.....hunt nightsisters unbuffed....go protect the village and kill sith thugs unbuffed....attack an atst unbuffed....fight a jedi unbuffed....at this point I dont think you and me are playing the same game here
My TK specials will kill me in 5 secs with out them. And this is all the devs fault. Dont blame buff bots for all your problems.
Funny. My TKM managed to make it to Master and I survived using a combination of foods and drinks when I couldn't find a live buff. /sarcasm on: Oh? Should I stop blaming credit dupers because the devs allowed the credit dupe holes? /sarcasm off: We've taken our issues to the Devs, of course. Still we have to keep working against our problems until some concrete action has been taken care of to stop them from the Devs' side. We're a multitasking community.

Woah what are you talking about?? Food's are a form of buffs....
Many of the bots belong to PVPerswho use them as their alt to bring in extra income and be self sufficient.
This isn't helping your argument any. But really, I don't have a huge problem if some hardcore PvP'er wishes to have a buffing alt--as long as that alt was leveled ATK, used ATK, and then put away when not in use by the PvP'er.
Live entertainers dont really exist on my server.
Oddly enough, there's a guyfrom Corbantis who appliedfor the Music Correspondent's position. He seems to be alive enough.... Perhaps you could contact him and some of his live ATK friends. There are several other people from Corbantis running around the Dance, Entertainer, and Music forums. I'm sure they don't represent your entire ATK population.
Is anyone live right now....nope
So if we didn't have the bots we would have no way to heal BF, wounds and get mind buffs.
Wounds heal rather quickly in the Med Centers, and BF heals automatically in the Cantinas. Chef products are a reasonable substitute forEntertainment buffs.
Umm docs cant heal mind wounds. Ent buffs are better last longer and are cheaper. In my case they are free
Flame me all you want because I dont agree with you.I dont care.
I know you don't care. That's apparently why you use bots...you don't care.
Umm I do care.....I wans't talking about bot here I was saying I dont care if you flame me
This forum is the least friendly of all. There are so many negavtive threads on here that you would think the sky is falling.
Just a quick readthrough of the first page I found discussion on: Correspondent visiting servers to collect information, Entertainment Quest modifications, Dance Guides, Dance issues and bugs, Correspondent visit scheduling, Entertainer information from Dev Chat, Test Center Fixes, Buff pricing, Cantina bugs, Buffbots, Dance art, more Dance art, weddings, Clothing Attachments, Clothing, Macros, andControlling Cantina drift.
Out of all of those, this thread is the most negative one. All the rest is pretty normal discussion for most professions. We talk about our issues, we socialize with eachother, and we make announcements pertinent to our profession.

*rolls eyes* (I've been waiting to do that!
) Botting is not a profession. And you're right, there are too few Entertainers. The majority of us have been driven from the game by AFK macroers, AFK hologrinders, and AFK buffbots. Go back, find the "goodbye" threads. Virtually every one of them will mention at some point how the game has become virtually unplayable because of the AFK'ers. The cycle is simply rinse and repeat: Entertainers leave because of AFK'ers, more folks feel justified in setting up bots. More bots = more Entertainers leaving = more bots...
You sound really paranoid...here. The bots are coming Oh no!
PS THANKS FOR ALL YOUR 1STARS YOU GUYS ARE REALLY MATURE.
Actually I hadn't even considered 1-starring you until this comment. (Come to think of it, who is more mature, the person who is willing to wait or work around the "problem" of not being able to find live Entertainers or the one who demands the instant gratification of a buffbot?)
Umm everytime I buff my self it is live entertainment because I'm operating the dancer who's buffing me. Why do I need a buff bot for? My wife is a master dancer

I'm sure they don't represent your entire ATK population.
Meh I have never seen him live once or even in gamein over 8 months of playing.
Is anyone live right now....nope
To take a line from The Lion King, "Look harder." (Ok, not so much the line itself, but the way I'm conveying its pronunciation in this situation.)
Looked ....no ones there. Why should I have to search for live entertainment. I dont care if someones actually there or not. I care about getting an extra 1000 mind so that I can gopvp and last against mind fire and poison
(He claims there is no way to heal mind wounds or BF without a bot since there are no Entertainers on Corbantis.) Wounds heal rather quickly in the Med Centers, and BF heals automatically in the Cantinas. Chef products are a reasonable substitute forEntertainment buffs.
Umm docs cant heal mind wounds. Ent buffs are better last longer and are cheaper. In my case they are free
*looks around confused* Where did I say Doctors could heal mind wounds? I would be pretty PO'ed if they could! And then of course, we get back to the core of the issue: buffbots make it so people feel Entertainers are valuless.
No they dont. All the people I interact outside of the grumpy forums like them
(He says, "Flame me all you want because I dont agree with you.I dont care.") I know you don't care. That's apparently why you use bots...you don't care.
Umm I do care.....I wans't talking about bot here I was saying I dont care if you flame me
*rolls eyes* Okay.
(He talks about how unfriendly and negative the Dance board is)Just a quick readthrough of the first page I found discussion on: Correspondent visiting servers to collect information, Entertainment Quest modifications, Dance Guides, Dance issues and bugs, Correspondent visit scheduling, Entertainer information from Dev Chat, Test Center Fixes, Buff pricing, Cantina bugs, Buffbots, Dance art, more Dance art, weddings, Clothing Attachments, Clothing, Macros, andControlling Cantina drift.
Out of all of those, this thread is the most negative one. All the rest is pretty normal discussion for most professions. We talk about our issues, we socialize with eachother, and we make announcements pertinent to our profession.
This thread is the most negative one
I'm kind of wondering where the negativity of the board isthen.
It's from bitter dancers like you who are angry all the time and try to tell other people how they should play their toons. My wife is free to play how shes wants. Just like you are. No need for all the one stars
(he says we don't need to be in arguments over botting because "we're in the same profession" and there are too few entertainers) *rolls eyes* (I've been waiting to do that!
) Botting is not a profession.
Paranoia is a condition marked byan unfounded and baseless fear or suspicion of others. I do not fear bots themselves, my fears are firmly grounded in personal observation of the decline of the Entertainment professions since bots and theirancestorial prototypes, the hologrinders.
I like this game the way is it
(He says he doesn't care about, but doesn't want, people one-starring him.) Actually I hadn't even considered 1-starring you until this comment.
Good. So...when you finish buffing yourself with your wife's character, log her out until you or your wife wants to use her the next time. Come to think of it, if this is the case, why mention (and why does) your guild maintain three additional entertainment bots and a docbot?
Thanks for your one star. It's nice to know you care so much.
