there it is... again.
The problem, Ihareo, is what is not being said in either of the quotes you posted. The devs have spent a lot of effort in laying out exactly how all the combat and healing profs are going to be working for the CU. The trouble is, that they have spent almost no effort in explaining what our combat related roles are going to be. And before this statement gets highlighted, I should point out that we *have* had a combat role since the game launched, and the recent statements from the devs suggest that we will continue to have *some form* of combat role going forward.
You're right that TH said that BF is still going to be in the game, but with everything they have written, they have not stated anything about the effect of BF nor have they even stated that entertainers will continue to be BF healers. For all we know it's entirely possible that this skill could be handed over to doctors or medics, and this is what is causing us concern. It would be very easy for them to simply say, that BF will continue to function as it does now or that entertainers will still be the only BF healers - but they haven't even confirmed this despite our many attempts to ask them.
In regard to buffs, we do realize that they have promised us some sort of buffing ability, but they don't say anything about when they expect to add this. Will it be released with the CU, or will it instead wait until sometime after the CU when they get around to working on it? We don't know, and again they haven't told us despite many attempts to ask them. The concern again, is that it won't be addressed until sometime after the CU.
We know we're losing mind wound healing, we *might* be losing BF healing, and the CU *could* go live with no Entertainer buffing ability. This affects all of our functional roles in the game - and as I pointed out in my long post on the Healer's and Related Professions thread, all this to professions that are "not in scope for the CU". This is what we're concerned about, Ihareo. It would be very easy for any one of the devs to clarify any of these two points, yet strangely enough, they haven't. They continue to leave them hanging with no answer, and that seems very odd and potentially worrisome.

The postsIhareo quoted do not really tell us anything, they only hint at "maybes"
Only two actual facts were released: 1.) Wound Healing will be a memory of days past and 2.) Buffs as we know them now will be a history.
None of them(Devs) took few minutes to even bother to explain what will happen to out skill tree, how leveling entertainers will be able to make do with only healing Battle Fatigue (which is my understanding wont effect players the same way as it does now, but yet no one knows how it will effect them)
The little mention of "creating minor long lasting buffs" makes it sounds as an afterthought of something they have not even bothered to create yet.
Also since majority of CU is basically "copy and paste" of EQ2 combat style for all we know their interpretation of "new and improved" Small long lasting buff could be the EQ2 version also, where a healer's buff can last 24 or 48 RL hours.
The point is we dont know jack.
No one is expecting CU also include EU, (personaly I dont think there will ever be any EU in any resonable near future) what people are asking to know is what exactly will be our purpose in game the day CU goes live.

... there's really nothing to fight with each other about right now, we really just need to try to make sure the Devs see us out there in the Dev threads.
I'm not trying to fight...
It just bothers me a little to see people I care abobut getting so upset, and I couldn't understand why.
Now that it has been explained, I understand why some people are so very upset.
See, my take on it was that the two things I quoted up there are fairly solid (as solid as anything is at this point) that we aren't being forgotten. Which is what I thought people were so upset about.

Okay guys -- lets stop responding to the troll in here and get out THERE and post.
We're being diverted again and focusing on this forum instead of where we should be focusing now.
Doctors as healers get a place in the CU -- if they're going to base our exp gain on healing then we should have a statement of our role as well, even if it's astatement that we will still have the same role, we need it stated OFFICIALLY and CONSISTANTLY, not one dev saying one thing and another something different and a third something not even related.
Lets get out there and ask for it.
Don't listen to people telling us this "for combat only." We have an impact on combat now, we need to know if we will next month.
Don't listen to people telling us to shut up and go AFK.
Don't listen to people telling us we're worthless.
Don't listen to people telling us we don't deserve what they get and that there will be time for us after all the "important" things.
GO OUT THERE AND LET THEM KNOW WE'RE NOT HAPPY.
Um.. I'll try to post more myself but the happy tree removal people who were removing my neighbor's tree today also decided to cut my cable line. So only 10 min left on lunch break at work to post and no 'net access at home.
I noticed this in "hawtpants go here:"
"Squadleader = squished into dancer? should shut panthu up"
Lets not let Panthu be the only one out there. We've come this far, this long. Lets not give up now.
... Troll? *one eyebrow raises up spock-like*
Kindly don't resort to insults Doriana. You lessen your very important message.

Oh I'm starting to like you, Ihareo. I've been called bad things too. I've called you bad things too. But I'm from Bria, and on Bria we tend not to hold grudges for very long. We are the same way in many respects here on the Dancer Forum. We speak our minds. We hold nothing back at times. But here, we tend to judge a poster on the basis of their last post. The ones we troll today can be our best friends tomorrow. Our best friends today can be shooting us flames in an hour. But its soon forgotten. After all dear, we are dancers. We are by nature passionate creatures.

Well thankyou! I like you too! Even if we did get a little um.. heated over in the one forum a while back.
But that's the best part of a friendship, kinship or whatever it can be called is that we can have different opinions, and even have fights and screaming flaming death-wars of ultimate despair, but not let it affect the overall relationship, or color what the person has to say on different tpoics.
I want all of you to understand, that while I am aggresivlet optimistic about things, it's not because I close my eyes to the possibilities, but rather I see them and I make the concious choice to be optimistic. I understand where you're coming from. And believe me, I'm scarred too. I just got my club open in a major city on Sunrunner, so I'm only one step away from the ideal I set for myself way back when SWG was a twinkle in SOE's eye. And that dreamis being threatened.
And like you say, the dancer is the heart of what we are, else we'd be a different profession. I think that's what this thread is about at it's heart. The will to go on being Dancers. And wether or not we will have to fight for our place in the galaxies after the CURB.
Besides, if not for the agressively optimistic like me, y'all 'd be drownin' your sorrows in a pint o blue milk by now!
Edit: I forgot my lilac letters!!
