So you guys have already decided you're not going to like it. Would you prefer that I ask the devs to remove our content from the expansion?

No. I for one want to try it out. I hope I get into the beta to try it out there too! I agree that $30 is a lot just for a new dance and some props but they don't see it as selling dance and props. They're selling a whole new world in which they tried to include us. I didn't buy Rage of the Wookiees because we were excluded.

Many probably have combat characters on other servers that can get more use out of the expansion. Personally do not, I've got Goldy and play entertainer full time so yes I think I'm going to be paying a fairly large cost for content, but goodness forbid that I decide to drop dancing and decided I liked to kill stuff I could use the expansion.

I think we're judging it a bit too soon. It is your choice to buy or not buy it of course. If you're like me, you're paying $30 for a new song and dance and that's about it. If it's not worth it to you, I don't blame youone bit for not buying it.But we complained when we were excluded last expansion and so they've included us and now we're complaining about that. Devs can't win with us here apparently.

What I'm seeing though is a whole lot of complaining when they give us the very stuff we ask for. And I'm the one who has to say "Yeah..I know we asked to be included in an expansion (for buffs that couldn't be AFK'd, for a tie in with crafters instead of combatters), but Dancers have decided they don't like it (in this case, before it's even gone to beta)."

We want to be treated the same wayother professions are treated. From my perspective we are...in direct proportion to our percentage of the playerbase. Yet we continue to complain that we are mistreated.

I've highlighted what for me is the central issue about why I'm not rushing to join the beta or rushing to pre-order. Getting a new dance or a new song doesn't make me feel like I'm being included in an expansion. Plain and simple. If JTL had come out and instead of granting you a free starter ship you had to go kill 10 tuskens, a night sister ranger, and old scratch in order to get your first ship and the expansion also included a new song and a new dance for entertainers then JTL would not be sitting on my desk. Just because our profession uses songs and uses dances doesn't mean that's our content. Newcrystal colors aren't content for Jedi. If I'm going to pay for an expansion (by the way most expansions do not cost as much as the original game in my experience. Usually a $30USD expansion is for a game that cost $80 - using FlightSim as an example for the numbers) then I'm going to want content that my character can participate in. I don't think that's asking for too much. I'm not saying the devs mistreat us. I think they just don't understand what I consider to be content for the entertainer profession. It's nothing new. It's been that way for quite a while. There are always going to be dissenting opinions on anything these professions are given because they are chosen and played for very different reasons. One person is going to be bouncing in circles at the very thought of getting a new dance or a new prop. One person is going to be doing back flips about giving professions specific buffs. At the exact same time someone is going to say "what the frell is this?" This isn't a one-size-fits-all profession. Yes that puts you in a very ugly position Esh. I'm sorry about that but it's the nature of things. Had these professions been presented as a "performance arts professionwith very little function but a lot of roleplay potential" then things would be different and the ability to provide content that everyone agrees is content would be much easier. But I don't think even the devs want that for these professions, though maybe they do and I'm way out in the middle of left field. Wouldn't be the first time.

I am thinking I wont get it for several reasons.

The primary one being that I refuse to pay for it online. If you can
only get it with a digital download, then I am not getting it. I dont
trust anyone, ESPECIALLY SOE with my credit card information online.

Two, no space content at all? Since I cant get cl 80, space is really where
I get to shine. if there's no space, no reason to buy there either.

And as for us dancers getting what we asked for and complaining...

Hm, I dont recall asking for a new planet, I asked for bug fixes. I never
asked, desired, imagined or begged for props, I asked for 8 distinct
florishes on my dances. I never asked for the afk spammer beside me, but I did ask for
the ability to self buff.

so cut it with the 'we complain when we get what we asked for' stuff. I
dont seem to recall asking for anything that we got. You KNOW the only reason
we got props and dual wield is so they could guinea pig us instead of the jedi,
because they wont mind if we complain that it breaks everything. Once again,
we get to be beta testers, but this time it was just dancers doing the testing.

anyway, this is one more person saying no to mustafa and the digital download.

God there are people still scared of buying online?

Its safer than phone sales and potentially safer than shops depending on their information storage procedures (such as information held on the reciept slips).

Esharra;

The problem here is not that anyone is saying we're being mistreated or ignored. You're reading this the wrong way if that's how it's coming across to you, and the devs would be wrong to see it that way also.

The problem is that songs, dances, and props are not content. They're toys. If this were The Sims Online, which is primarily a sandbox game, then new toys would probably be appreciated. Maybe that's the whole problem. The devs look at our professions as "social" professions and they look at the players of "social" games like TSO and There.com and think "Well, social players like toys". So they toss in the obvious new toys into the expansion and say "See, there's something even for the CL1's."

What you and Tralmek and whoever replaces Scip need to tell the devs is that we don't want toys. We want AN AUDIENCE! We want content that makes people want to come and interact with us. We want ways to interact with the game that make us feel that we're advancing our characters in some way. Banging on my nalargon for 100 hours to unlock a new tune is not my idea of "entertainer content". Give me a new ability that will make combatants want to come and interact with me. Give me a theme park that required combatants to work together with entertainers and crafters. Give me a crafting schematic that allows me to do my job outside of a smegging cantina. Any of that is content. Unless the new dance is a strip-tease or a fan-dance and the new tune is the "take-it-off" song thenthose bits of "content" are not going to bring more people into the cantina.

We're not unappreciative for the new toys. We ARE trying to send a message to the devs that they need to throw the smegging Bartle scale into the trash and learn what our professions are really about from our perspective. We're not a bunch of Socializers whose only aim in the game is to have a place to chatter to each other. We're entertainers and we want the game to enable us to feel like our characters are doing something meaningful to the rest of the game world in that context.

I totally agree. In my opinion, the best stuff that we could get would be tools with which to create content that other players would enjoy participating in. It truly is what this incredible virtual world was created for.

This is my point.

They want to show us some goodwill? Take this out of the expansion (easily done) and give it to us for free, and tell us we don't need to buy the expansion. Saves us $30.

While its hardly likely that I'd preorder, I'm undecided as to whether I'll get the expansion. I do like the idea of a new planet. Although, at my level its problably going to be worse than Dath. A new speeder is nice but that one toon per account will again make it difficult to choose where to use it. The three new vehicle slots doesn't impress me. Give me more pets instead. I miss my Sandy. Had to give her up when I trained my varactyl and bolotaur I do like the ideas of a new dance and props, but am concerned it will be impossible to achieve.I don't want to have to drag a group with me to do a quest and I most certainly don't want to do space...unless I'm a passenger. I don't know I started writing this leaning towards maybe getting it and now the cons outweigh the pros. Goin got be tough justifying spending yet another $30 on not much.

Well, I'm sorry, it's just that $30 isn't chump change.

The Total Experience was $30. And it came with two expansions, one of them brand spankin' new.

It's not that I don't appreciate what they've done for us - it's that I don't find the pricing appropriate for what we're seeing so far from it.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, Warr..30 bucks is 30 bucks and I'm certainly not going to try to convince anyone they should buy the expansion. $30 is a lot to pay for such a small amount of entertainer content.

The problem is that what the announcement states isn't even content. Others have already pointed this out, giving me a new dance and song isn't giving me content and certainly not new real tools. To make it even worse this is stuff they did the real work of motion capture, studio recording, and graphic animations two years ago so their cost is nearly zero.

I'll most likely get the expansionfor my combat toon. But to ask a customer who only does entertaining to pay them for software they have had sitting on the shelf two years and claiming it is content for us is absurd.

I would absolutely love to see a lot of content aimed at us. But we are a very small percentage of the playerbase and I don't expect they would be able to justify a lot of time and attention on such a small sector. If there were more of us..sure. Ifwe had the numbers to compete with the combat professions, we could probably get anything we asked for. But I don't expect we could get those kinds of numbers without removal of sp req, which many dancershave made clear they don't want to happen. However, I am looking forward to having some new stuff. And when the time comes that I feel I need more content, I'll either change professions (doubtful) or move on to another game (not in the foreseeable future).

you've said it perfectly.. entertainers are such a small % and im talking true entertainers soo why are they trying to squeeze every last dime outta such a small portion of there base income. Im one of the people that says remove the SP for it. Trust me there isnt going to be a huge influx of combat people that want to come and entertain. Yea im sure some would pick up dance to grove at parties and it would give the people taht are true entertainers the chance to go out and experiance the rest of the game and not have to either unlock a second toon, pick a new server, or PAY for another account which is what ive done since launch (thats ending this month btw from being ignored for soo long, I have a crafter that has been all but ignored with content since launch and a muscian/dancer. Ive paid 3 acounts just to experiance the game.. Combat i do like 1 time a week if that, as its my least favorite part of the game, and ive decided they have gotton enough of my money.. soo i made a combat toon on another server, keeping my crafter and giving up entertiner till i unlock, which hopefully will be about christmas.. (with the aid of freinds as im a lvl 1 toon and they dont think that lvl 1's should be able to unlock alone) Anyway this is getting way off track of the real point.

Artisans and entertainers are such a small % of the acuall game base that they should not even be consitered to include content in expansions period !.Thats not to say we should never get content. To me that means.. it should be included in the base game for downloads in patches, If they want to give the smallest portions of the player base some new content at the times of large expantions thats fine by me.Ive gotton one new quest, and some extra schematics.. and thats in 2 YEARS ! In that time.. we as entertianers,, have gotton one new song, 2 dances, some droids, and some lights.. Oky great.. some new stuff.

Not one person would have complained (ohh oky i take that back someone would have anyway) About not being included in the kash exp if they had given us a new dance, a new song, and a new instrument at the time of the wookie world exp in the regular game down laod to upgrade everyones game.. (which they do anyway) i still see the barc's that everyone drives and i dont own Total experiance. (ill say again the vet rewards they give people for playing since launch are total crap Ooo some decorations, Oky the ADK was a decent one, We as vets should be the one with all the neat toys.. not the noobs that never played, or just the rich people that can go out and spend extra cash at ever packed or downlloadable release)

Im all for having new stuff..but to pay 30 bucks for a desert skiff, and a new dance.. sorry thats a bit much to ask no matter how you look at it.
