Err... don't get me wrong, but this is the ID Board. What is the exciting new thing we get, besides a little bug fix (not even "my" hair style is mentioned yet)? I'm happy for the Dancers, but when I read the topic, I was hoping for something like vendor ID or anything new.
/sigh

Because we have new dancers, musicians, and entertainers who have no knowledge of these forums log in the day after the patch, play in the cantinas as usual, and wonder why nobody is coming to see the show, and why they are not getting tipped.
Sorry, Miss Thing, it doesn't work like that. You don't pick and choose what gets shelved based on what you've decided to turn your nose up to. "Shelving" means we get put on hold - the actual profession and player requests. They're still going to make the over all changes that are needed for the game, we just don't get any goodies and they don't talk to us.
I'm sorry if this offends people and makes them scream "but I'm the customer!!!" Yes, yes you are, and so are the other players who don't give a poo if Ents have anything fun to do at all. Guess what? There are even more of them than us.
You do not understand our place in the greater game. You do not understand how MMORPG development works. You do not know what we have been through to get to this point.
You need to try to chill out, stop attacking people who actually do know what they are talking about, and have a little faith that the people we pay to make a fun game for us actually know what they are doing. If this is beyond you, maybe it's time for you to take a little break?
As for me, I love this profession. It's why I love this game. I actually meant it when I said "I'd still dance even if we had no healing at all." I also would have still danced if we were turned into grand healers and the "other docs." I also would have if they turned us into field Bards! It's the core of the prof that I love and the base concept, I'll leave it to the devs to say how those goals are best met.

Nah, I don't think it will be that bad. Sure it might become a little more silent, but I don't think the rate of patrons visiting will vastly decrease overall.
I mean, we still can dance and that is what we are there for!
A little hint: Entertainers are not the only reason for a player to enter a cantina. In particular not those of Coronet, Moenia, Anchorhead... And a lot of people in Dathomir Research (or was it sience?) and Dantooine MO are happy for any entertainment people may have to offer while they are entertaining.
The only realm we cannot easily conquer is space... that's why I am for docking capabilities for MPS and a fun space station orbiting corellia.

I'll tell you what... I'm thrilled to death about this. I've already got Ava's respec token ready to take me back to master dancer when this goes live. I see this as just the beginning of a whole new world for us, and I'm so, SO excited about it.
Devs, from a player who's been here since day one, been an entertainer since day one - thank you.
Oh, and thanks for the changes to player Jedi bounties, too. Fuschia might actually BE a Jedi now. ![]()
Esharra,
What does this mean?
"Entertainer's and elite professions' skill branches have been reworked to accommodate these changes."
Will I gain back some sp?

I get so tired of everyone whining about all this. I, for one, welcome ALL changes to the profession. I'm excited about the pretty stuff. I'm excited that we *are* getting love and not getting shelved again. I'm proud that my fellow ents at Fan Fest and these forums have been supportive of each other and the devs. I think that we at fan fest, put a face to the Ent profession that it hadn't had before. I think that it showed we all welcome change and we weren't going to run from it nor throw it back in their faces.
So many focus on the NPC cantinas. IMHO, if that is all you do, or all you do is use it for a buff profession, you really aren't an entertainer. I do visit them and encourage players, helping them out. But I also tell them about all the OTHER cool stuff about being an ent. Joining a band, getting hired to perform, space port jam sessions. All the REALLY cool fun stuff!
Being an ent is about *entertaining*, which I think many people forget.

Because many of the full-time IDs are also full-time entertainers. Many IDs might want to know about the new dancer/musician things, as to determine a new look to go with possible changes for the dancers/musicians. If some of the new things are very colourful, we might see an increase in changes to people and the look they're trying to portray.
And as much as people may like or hate it, ID is under Entertainer and this is an entertainer update. Also, this isn't a complete list of changes, apparently, as folks have confirmed. It was a partial list of things to look forward *to*.

Profession: Image Designer
Image Designers will no longer see other players avatars in the user interface as swimming
There is a bug where sometimes when you were IDing someone, instead of standing in the interface, they swam. It's pretty funny.
That is correct. It affects Lok and Talus all the time and other places some of the time.

That may be all well and good, but the word on the street is this:
Poor ents.
I see it in every forum outside of the ones that the radicals amongst us inhabit. The playerbase as a whole are actually feeling sorry for us, because so much is going to be taken from us.
Poor ents.
They see the writing on the wall. Why can't we?
I'll tell you why we can't. Because we have been living in forum land for so long, we are actually starting to believe the things we say. "We don't want prisoners." "I could care less about your prattle." "I do not want to perform for the 1337 combat dewdz."
Well I'll tell you one thing. If our patrons feel imprisoned, it is not the system's fault. It was our fault for not doing what we should be doing: entertaining them.
And I'll tell you another thing. I honestly do believe that they could care less about my show. They just wanted their stats healed. But that never, ever meant that they couldn't appreciate it when they got there. Because they get a show from me regardless, and many of them were quite impressed.
And I do not want you to speak on my behalf when we say, "I do not want to perform for the 1337 combat dewdz." Because I have found that with a little faith in myself, I can reach them. I do not want to take away reasons to come to the cantina. I want to increase them. How stuck up and selfish we have become, dancers, who actually want to eliminate whole categories of players from having to go see a show in the cantina? I do not want to push out the combat players. I want to embrace them. Because I have found that they are not as bad as their forum posts suggest.
I do not see these changes as a reward. I see them as a punishment. We are being punished because we as a group of professions have failed the expectations of an entire playerbase. And as a result, we will no longer be given the responsibility to amuse them in their daily play.
Poor ents.
That's what I hear. Because unlike we here in this forum, the patrons know what the truth means. The developers hate what the cantinas have become so much, that they are no longer going to have the audience agonize there amid the spam, the unattendees, and the callous performers.
And I am sure not many players here care. But for me, the patrons are the reason I do this profession. I don't go into that cantina because they won't get healed without me. I go because I think the patrons deserve a good show, and I know they may not get one unless I or someone who cares is there.
Poor ents.
Poor patrons.
Poor SWG.
