Here I go take 2.

O.M.G

this thread really makes me sad .

I enjoy live entertainers. If I cant find one maby one out of 30 times I might go to a buff bot, I cant deny it but that is when I want to do some long pve sessions not to pvp.

There are arguments from both sides, and in my opinion the entertainers have alot more valid arguments about the stuff, and the pro buffbots are just brats who doesnt give a shiat about anyone else but them selfs and how they play their game. I have not read all 25 pages. But the first 10.

Here is the thing. Every pro person NEEEDS entertainer buffs to pvp, if they dont get them they will die.

If I do pvp wich I have to admit isnt very often cause of my views on personal skills in killing people over some turnedbased worthless piece of junk , and all goes out on kick the other one when he cant hit you back and win. YAY super.

But If i do pvp and I didnt find an entertainer you know what I try and do then. Yes this only works for 10 minutes of pure going, and another 10 with lesser result but still pretty decent.

I play wookie. I have tkm, master swords, master brawler and 1400 fencer.

My unbuffed mind stats are.

1100 Mind
650 focus
and 600 willpower. This is without armor on.

If I dont get a ent buff and want to fight someone seriously? well you prob get what I mean, I plop 2 mister brandys, 2 mister canape and one smugglers delight with 99% spice reduction and one of the mister Moun gould things.

without armor this leaves me with

2386 Mind
3400 focus
3350 willpower

thats pretty nice, you have a nice heal rate on your mind pool, and your specials will be 0.

Now say I have doc buffs aswell I can put on all my armor, wich have encubrance.

Stats then is about

2386 Mind
3000 focus
2900 willpower

Still pretty nice overall, and you have armor to protect you aswell. Now I know almost every eLiTe pvp super d00d is using the meditate tree out of tk, so they can power boost.

If I powerboost I get

2948 Mind
3000 focus
2900 willpower

More health and action aswell. Now this can go for 10 minutes and since the spice downer is reduced to about 1 second, but fills stomach I can take one more moun gould, leaving me with

2386 Mind
1500 focus something with armor
1500 something willpower with armor

with powerboost back up to 2948 Mind again, and go 10 more minutes, with the possibility of maby taking another canape on that if needed.

Now this IS enough to go nuts for a while 1on1. if you are guild fighting you might even have doctors and combat medics to heal you and your mind. So to justify total ignorance to live entertainers just cause you need to be elit0r d00d is to me utter bullshiat.

Oh and another thing I remember that I feel the need to coment on, is the boho stop whining on us using a buffbot and start making some customers.

I play on Infinity and I do belive that the live entertainers that are located there have a couple of nice regular customers, but you need to understand there are theese two chef hat guy buff bots that is standing in coro cantina (which I my self have used very early mornings to get some pve candy) and I have been there chatting with one master dancer/musician who was standing next to theese to gentlemen saying hey Im buffing just invite me and I can buff. Ok, now at least 100 people came to use the bots, and not more than 5 said ok sure why not to the live entertainer. That says something doesnt it?.

Sorry for double posting.

But I forgot before some smartbutt comes and starts to comment.

Yes what if you super eLiTe d00d is overt and so on. Sure without any buffs vs a prepared player will die thats for sure. But the chanses of getting attacked just when you havent found an entertainer is there but pretty slim, and my suggestion still works if you are really paranoid and have a "reputation" to keep as the eLiTe spuar pvp d00d with the big mouth. There is that chance that you as an overt will get caught with your ego down without ent buffs even if you only use buff bots.

When someone comes in, after 300 posts, most of which detailing why it is a probelm to entertainers, and says. "Gee i don't see why you have a problem, maybe if you worked at it harder you'd do better". Then they are eitherincapable of readingor a troll. You are a troll as wellisendel, stop wasting everyones time with your broken record useless and inflamitory posts, and go debate the food value of french fries on the McDonalds forum's or something. I have 2 accounts. On each of these accounts, I have characters on 7 servers. My 2nd character was a Dancer (Merakai Mer'Si on Bria). Out of my 14 different characters, I have 6 MIDs, 1 Master Dancer/Master Musicain/Master Entertainer, 1 Master Musician, 4 Master Dancers, 1 Master Artisan/Novice Architect and 1 Master CH/Novice Swordsman/BE. All but 1 of my characters has at least some combat capability. Only 2 have no entertainer skills at all.

Here is my take on this issue as a COMBAT CHARACTER:

If I am doing combat missions, I spend 70% of my hunting time UNBUFFED... no doctor buffs, no entertainer buffs, no food/drink.

Of the 30% of the time that I am buffed, it is usually only from food/drink.

I have found that the missions that I get when I have gotten buffed by a doctor/entertainer are doable with just food/drink buffs (I don't PvP so can't comment on that though I have seen others who do that make the same points about PvP that I have made about PvE)... I just need to remember to use tactics. I don't need to use tactics if I have doctor/entertainer buffs.

When I am playing one of my (2) non-entertainer characters, I normally try to find some LIVE entertainer if I should need healing... and only log in with my entertaineralt on that server if I cannot find one. I refuse to use zombies or bots of any kind (this includes the tumbling bots in the med center as well as the buff-bots in cantinas). My (12) entertainer characters can, of course, heal their own mind wounds and BF if there are no live entertainers who need the eh xp available.

This accounts for the "buffs are needed" portion of the pro-buff-bot crowd.

Now for the flip side... my take on this issue as an ENTERTAINER:

First, there is the spam from the buff-bots and the tip me/heal me/group me spam from afk zombies grinding entertainer. I have my options set to ignore chat from afk characters. My ignore list is over-flowing... and growing every day. I simply cannot keep up with the vast amount of spam through this mechanism. It is disruptive and annoying.

Then there is the fact that other players are being conditioned by the buff-bots to treat me as a non-entity. I have had to set my options to automatically reject group invitations unless I have asked to join a group. I am so tired of people who think that the way to get a buff is to invite the Master Dancer/Musician to join their group. No "can I get a buff?" No "are you buffing?" Nothing except that invitation to group.

Where do they learn this kind of rude behavior? From using BUFF-BOTS! You see, a buff-bot is not really there, so people can abuse them to their heart's content. Then they go and treat LIVE entertainers in the same way. This is MY PRIMARY sore point with the buff-bots. You see, I have gone into the Coronet cantina while there was a buff-bot present and gotten all the buffing clients I can handle. As buff-bots become more prevailent, however, I can foresee a day when a band of live entertainers can stand on top of a buff-bot and fail to compete simply due to the fact that more and more people are being conditioned by buff-bots.

The whole thing is a vicious circle:

  1. Buff-bots make the cantina atmosphere hostile to live entertainers.

  2. Live entertainers quit (entertaining/the game/both) due to the hostile environment in the cantinas.

  3. Someone notices that it is harder to find an entertainer to heal/buff them and makes a new buff-bot.

  4. More live entertainers quit (entertaining/the game/both) due to the increasingly hostile environment in the cantinas.

  5. Repeat cycle.

Your right to swing your arm ends where my nose begins.

So, are they still banning people for harassing the buff-bots? Inviting them without intention to get/pay for buff, etc?

Esharra I generally do the same thing but if I'm taking a quick bio-break and other ATK players are there to explain my unresponsiveness I will keep playing music. I know others that will leave for longer periods, up to an hour, but always turn on AFK and again I or others are present to explain their absence. The way their home life is they may be gone 30 secs or 30 minutes, they don't know when they step away. I won't fault anyone for simply trying to keep in the game with brief RL interuptions. Especially as one friend is trying to relevel dance again after trying out ID.

I don't and won't set my toon up to run for any extended period unattended. I did that for the last two boxes of master CH and just didn't feel the accomplishment I should have. Once I've mastered something the need to keep animating when I'm not at the keyboard makes no sense anyway, it isn't like I'm in a rush to gain experience. I'm also just sick and tired of half the people in Theed (not just the cantina) being some kind of AFK toon causing lag that stops friends with less powerful computers dead in their tracks.

I try to avoid Theed and Coronet all together... There, it's not just the buff-bots, but also the ad-bots... I've got a 1.5Ghz 512MB RAM, 32MB VRAM, 500kbps cable connection, and when I am in theed, I suffer like0-5 (0 meaning the game freezes for a few seconds) frame rate until i turn my graphics down all the way up get maybe 10 frame rate if im lucky, yet once I manage to shuttle OUT of theed, my frame rate jumps to 35 or so, and I can turn my graphics back up, dropping my frame rates to a nice 20... if I need to go to the cantina... I have to turn my graphics down and I get the 5 frame rate at lowest graphics... they need to make afk people log out after 30 min. Period. No macros to keep you in the game, after 30 min you are booted. Period. But then that would tramble the rights of the buff-bot... and they can't do that...

The difference in someone who is part of an ATK group moving to a back corner and quietly going AFK for 30 minutes and someone who is there all day and spamming tip/heal macros is significant. If they do make people disconnect after 30 minutes I have zero problem with that and neither would my ATK friends. However expecting someone to know the family interuption is going to be more than a minute and sit down is a bit much IMO. Heck there are ATK people who spam the tip/heal macros so being present doesn't really impact that. Unfortunately new entertainers are being taught by example and the first thing you see when you enter a busy cantina is these macros. I alwayssuggest tonewer entertainers that are ATK and grouped with me to remove them from their macro. I try to explain how much the customers actually hate them as well as how annoying it is for those of us who spend hours in the cantina. I also try and explain how interacting with the people is what will get them tips not begging. It works sometimes, it doesn't others.

I don't go continue to animate and step away from the computer if I happen to be alone because I don't want people trying to interact with my toon and wondering where I am. I will step away for a short time if I'm with friends who can explain my absence and estimated return.

Ok dropped just that to get the idea of what Im replying to... go back and read it fi you need to...

As for my reply now...

Right, I've had to get up and leave the keyboard for whatever "emergency" reasons it might have been when dancing, only to come back hours later and have to explain to my fellow dancers why I was afk macroing for a few hours when I am so avidly preaching against it all the time... for that reason alone I think I'd love a 30 min timer, for the other reasons too, but for that reason also.

No you don't. If the buffs were gone completely you'd have nothing to gripe about. In fact none of the buffs are needed. Friday night about the only buff I NEEEDed was to have my secondaries buffed because no one could hit me (I'm a master Fencer).

Oh and last time I checked a pro was someone who got paid to do something...ametuer.

Hehehehe. I thought as much. The smile of course was meant to take some sting off any eventual sting.

But you're right. All those who would call themselves "pros" need buffs like some sort of drug. In that case I advise to get them in one of many 12 step processes...

This is sad to say, being a dancer, but it's true... Dancer buffs suck... just get some vasarian brandy and pop two of them, you've got a better buff right there than any dancer can EVER give you... Hmm... Doctors buffs can get up to 2500+ per stat... but dancers... What's the limit, 125% of your mind stat, if you've got an Exquisite Dancer's Leotard (which we all do, they are so nice and cheap and common and we don't need tips to afford them...) and um... how do you get the other 20% that people tell me Briha has?
