I vote for #2. This is a big request from the Ranger community. You will see it featured in our vision statement - The Outdoorsman Proposal.

The Outdoorsman proposes a complex system of what we call "modular camps." These camps would be constructed similar to droids. Put an Entertainer module in the camp during construction and you would have a camp in which an Entertainer could heal BF.

For greater interdependence between classes some of the modules could be created by other professions. I am not sure if the Entertainer profession was one of those, but if it WAS then an entertainer would create the module and a Ranger would purchase it to make his/her camp with. Sort of like the playback thing you were envisioning.

Here is the short short description from the Outdoorsman:
Entertainment Stage
Module Level: 4
Module Type: Humanoid
Profession: Musician / Dancer
Cost: Expensive (12)
Description: A camp with this module is able to heal Battle Fatique with the aid of a performing Dancer or Musician

Look HERE for the Outdoorsman. Scroll down to the camp section to read the entire idea.

I love, love, LOVE that you guys are thinking the same thing!

Hehe nice plug for the Outdoorsman revamp, but I think these are options being discussed for a quick fix. That's why I used the healing modifier of the camps as examples.

As a quick fix, option 2 works better for me, although I believe Ranger camps need to be the only ones to heal BF in that instance.

As for what I would like in the long run, I am a huge supporter of the Modular Camping proposal (in point of fact, I am re-writing the Outdoorsman to update it for the Correspondant summit). Idon't believe that it is smart or balanced to remove the BF healing from Entertainers. I don't think a scout should be able to pull a camp, go grab a sandwich, come back and be BF free. Just my opinion.

Modular camping works best in my mind because it takes a master dancer or a master musician to make the stage module, and also requires the presense of a Dancer/musician/entertainer to heal BF. This will get more entertainers out into the field and make them a viable part of PvP. Healing mind wounds during a lull in the battle will make both Rangers and Entertainers a larger part of any smart battle plan.

This iscoming from a Ranger, so take my opinions with a grain of salt, but I hope that you realize that most Rangers do NOT want to remove the Entertainer from being the sole removers of BF. I think that this is an important class distinction and any removal of it would likely be due to the calls of the masses, not of Rangers themselves.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

My favorite option:

Field Bases (standard and Hi-Tech) should have options to drop in modules, for general use, themselves and profession specific. Rangers have this suggestion already deep in the bowls of the ideas we have been comming up with in our forums that no dev seems to penitrate . One of those ideas was an outdoor stage made by an architect thatyou (an entertainer)could drop in a field base. There, an entertainer could heal BF.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Option 2 is nice,

As was already stated, this really perked our interest in the ranger forums. Someone here posted that everyone wants to fight, everyone wants to loot 'uber loot', and everyone wants to kill high level MOBS. To that person, speak of just yourself - try not to speak of others. I have 2 characters, one is a fencer/ranger, the other is a armorsmith/doctor. I very rarely go after anything 'uber' so to speak. I like hunting with friends, I like group work, and I like the socialness of this game - NOT just fighting some upper level creature. There is more to the game than killing mokks on dantooine hours on end for some pointless loot in an endless wish to be the richest person in the game.

I vote #2, ranger only.. well, just like everyone else.

And I am very happy to hear that rangers like that choice too, because how it affects both sides is important.

As a former Master Dancer and a Former Master Ranger I vote #2. This would give entertainers a reason to get out of the cantina. It gets really boring there amongst so many macrotainers and now that those will be gone there is no telling how scarce dancers/musicians will be. Allowing them to perform their skill in the wild will make it much more enjoyable for them I would think.

You can't let EVERY camp have the same powers.

You need to give reason to want to get to Ranger, or you will have everyone and thier brother with Novice Scout ONLY, healing BF in the field.

The BF healing should start at Master Scout, then increase to match a cantinas capabilities at Master Ranger.

(the largest camp is NOT, in fact, in the Rangers Master box, but I would suggest it to be moved there)

Buffing is another topic all together...

My answer is Option 2, entertainer required for BF healing.

WITH A TWIST!

A Rangers BF should auto heal in a ranger camp. This would help a Rangers immersion into the "never needing a city" idea that they all have had since day one.

Think of a troubador.

As a freshly-badged Master Ranger myself, I would wholeheartedly support option #2. This has been a personal wish of mine since the first time I mastered Scout, oh-so-many moons ago...

Really, they give us that fantabulous "city in a box" campat Frontiering 4that can do almost everything under the sun -- except allow Entertainers to take their show on the road and be a viable and desirable member of a hunting group. Some of us still enjoy that whole group hunting thing.

Hear, hear. I remember dancing in many a master ranger's camp. I healed mind wounds and gave lots of mind buffs. It was fun! I did this on normal hunts (remember hunting pikets on Dantooine with no armor? hehe) and for PvP raids.

What would make it perfect is being able to heal battle fatigue in that camp, as well.

Option 1.

I hate seeing options proposed that makes an entire profession useless. Some of us love the social interaction in Cantina's and remember the times when Cantina's were great places and hubs of interaction and roleplay.

Option 1

Though it will essentially do what a live entertainer will do, it's the only thing that combat profs can't get healed without going into a cantina. It's also the single biggest whine I've heard since they're taking away the macro system - folks say they play during off-hours (amazing how many of them now play off-hours all of a sudden, and how concerned they are about off-hour players, but anways) and can't get battle fatigue healed if there are no AFK players.

It is very true that if BF is too high, and they're off in the middle of nowhere, then they pretty much may as well logout or spend 20 minutes or more (or less) heading to a big city to find an entertainer. Their attacks are less effective, and combat becomes a futile attempt. I have a combat alt, and I'm well aware of how BF sucks. And not being able to heal it would be annoying.

So, I agree with letting them have some battle fatigue healing in camps. Just give it to them already, if they're so foaming at the mouth for it. Given that removal of the recursive macro system very well may remove a means of them getting their BF healed, give them the option of utilizing a ranger tentto heal battle fatigue. Maybe rangers will start big camps for folks and hang out in the wilderness waiting to heal folks' battle fatigue. Then, they'll get "required" to be on 23/7 and in every location within the game to heal battle fatigue. They may as well get some of the love from the combat professions that we get.
