Ok, I maxed my quickness and my mind and dropped the rest into willpower and this seems to be working. I can dance all day and all night with no buff so long as I don't go nuts with the lights and
I seem to bemindincapping less even though I'm rarely buffed on that stat.

Hmmmm, I was told by many people that Warcry was nerfed or broken or . . . something. That it didn't work the way it was intended originally, anyway . . . I have yet to try it, though.

Yeah they come out of it now as soon as they are attacked. Oh well, it will save my voice fo singing.

So, basically, its just a delay tactic to catch your breath?

Ah, well - didn't mean to sidetrack the topic!

I have found being a dancer can be very useful during a raid. Those CM's do some nasty damage, and I have had nights where I can't even run out and fight because people constantly needheals for bf and reapplication of mind buffs. As long as CM's and Riflemen are around, dancers have their work cut out for them.

Entertainers, Dancer and Musicians, are definitely needed in PvP. I never really noticed this until I happened to help defend a base that just happened to have an incredible master dancer in it, dancing away for people...here's to you Tiny Dancer of mVa!

The force multiplyer of a dancer/musician in any PvP contest in on par with a doctor. A doctor can buff out the top 6 HAM bars, but the dancer/musician will buff the low 3...and those low 3 are how to win at PvP. Assuming everyone is already doctor buffed, having a dancer in the area to buff the mind pool means your group has an even better chance of winning!

Now, I started reading this thread because I am making my alt into a doctor/dancer for the obvious benefit of buffing my main character. But as I started reading, I noticed that many of you think that you need to have combat skills in order to be helpful in PvP, and you don't! Heck, you may not even die in PvP even if you are surrounded by players of he opposite faction!

Now, I've been PvP w/ Ikaika, my main, for sometime now,and here are some of the lessons that I learned by being a pure PvP template, but still apply to ANY template in PvP:

  1. You WILL die. Get used to it. Do NOT get upset by it. It is part of PvP, and thus, and accepted part of being in a battle.

  2. Get yourself buffed by a doctor, and, no joking here, a dancer AND a musician if you can.

  3. Get some stun armor. We have 40-42% stun resist, w/ 67% base resist (non-sliced) on Valcyn. Get whatever is best on your server in terms of stun resist. Get it sliced for effectiveness, not Encumberance. If you are already buffed, the encumberance won't make any difference anyway. I was going to say that you should only wear armor (I threw away all my clothes), but then I remembered that there are BE clothes for dancers to help in the healing. So the armor on and clothes on macro is a good thing! PM me here if you want me to write one out for you.

  4. FOOD! FOOD! MORE FOOD! The new BE food is incredible and great! As a TKA/Rifleman, and also as a Doc, I use my mind bar a lot. To that extent, I have Canapes and Brandy. I have some muon, but that is just for an emergency. There is also (for dancers) carmalized Pkneb which will give you a bonus to wound healing. Another good thing to get, if you are getting shot at, is synthsteak which will reduce the damage from attacks considerably (I got 40% stuff). The thing to remember on foods/drinks are the filling and the duration. For foods, you want the filling to be no more than 33. This will allow you to take 3 portions of whatever (i.e. 2 canapes +1 synthsteak, or 1 canape +1 synthsteak, 1 open for "just-in-case") For drinks you want no more than 50 filling, so you can take 2 (drinks, by and large, last a lot longer than food (never figured the logic on that one ) so you may as well fill up on it.) There are a lot more you can use (air cake, snow cakes) but those I mentioned are some of the best, and what I usually use when I fight.

  5. Get good weapons if you get a combat profession and only use them for PvP fighting. Krayt weapons are GREAT, but awful expensive, but if you got some good friends you can do it. Pistoleers, the Geo Stun is your friend, along w/ a Republic Blaster and DXR6 (?...not sure on name, the AP1 acid pistol). Rifleman...the Jawa, T21, and a Disruptor. Carbs, no idea, but get the one that does the most damage w/ the highest Armor Piercing. For melee: TKA, well, only one choice there until the DW bunker comes out. Fencer, stun baton and a ghaffi. Swords, Scythe and a PH (preferably acklay if you can get some). Pike's, no idea, but get the best.

  6. Finally, practice...practice a lot! Die a lot! Learn from your mistakes. Darn, should have taken the food! Should have done a KD+Dizzy! Learn from your mistakes, and you will get a lot better. Duel your guildies to learn how to do specials, etc.

In regards to those who WANT a combat profession to combine w/ your Dancer abilities, here are some really good como's and my thoughts on why. Also, here is a good place to get a greate character builder to determine what you want to do w/ your template, www.bloodfin.org. In the downloads there is an awsome character builder that is free to use. Now, on to the templates:

  1. Dancer/TKA 4000/(Rifleman/Pistol/Carb.): This is agreat build because you get the meditation line of TKA, which will allow you to meditate away your wounds w/o having to use a doctor to heal you. Mix in any one of the ranged professions, and you will be able to reach out and touch someone. I am partial to Rifleman because of he higher damage we can produce, and also because we can target the mind pool. But choose what is best for you. The downside isthat you will have no skill points left over for either scout or novice medic.

  2. Dancer/TKA 4000/Fencer: Fencer has the best Center of Being (helps you avoid being hit) and Dodge combo in the game. You can use a stun baton (cuts through non-stun resist comp armor easily). You also get the meditation line of TKA for those pesky wounds again. You also have enough points left over for novice medic.

  3. Dancer/TKA/Scout 4000/Novice Medic: A good combo for also going on hunts. Great terrain negotiation, and he awsome power of the TKA.

Those are my ideas and advise for a dancer in a warzone. I hope it helps, and I can't wait to take my wookiee doctor/dancer to a base soon! Good luck, and lets go trip the lights fandango!

It's my opinion that it is unfair for me to be able to heal overts without recieving any kind of tef. We are passive healers and it's unfeasable to tef us for healing overts as we have so little control over who is watching. There is no real solution for this from the developers side without making us entirely too griefable. For my own sense of fairness I try to always be overt when entering PvP situations and would encourage all others to do the same.

In the mean time....GREAT POST! lots of useful information.

This is true Silly, I am talking about being covert or even neutral. I understand your logic, and the fundamental reasons behind it. And when I fight as Ikaika, I am mostly overt...it simply makes it easier to kill people But I also fully believe in the TEF and GTEF options available to us in this game. My logic on this isthat I am a Rebel. Rebel, to me, by in large, are NOT running around overt, proclaiming who they are. Because we are *cough* outnumbered *cough* ( ) we are more into the hit and run tactics and defense. We hit an imperial target, and then fade back intothe crowd. That is just my thinking. And with my doctor/dancer, I'll play him as a doc/dancer w/ rebel leanings....or something like that. Or I may just go overt, and laugh at the guy who kills me. Either way, it'll still be fun!

3. Repeatedly ask the oposing side for tips after all you ARE providing them with faction points.

You apparently never met a master TK/Dancer or you would have a little more respect (because it was beaten into you).

I have to be honest...

Take 7 TKM without dancer buff vs 7 with it

100 out of 100 times the ones with win.

The issue is buffing is undercharged for the blue bar...as far as fighting....novice pistoleer helps a lot..you can pass bleeds around and such if you are lucky....dont get too excited though..you arenot going to buff and fight in same class

I think the popular opinion is that we have no buisness with any kind of combat effectiveness derived from our actual dance skills. However, with the extra melee/ranged defense that we pick up at master and with some decent complimentary skills I really feel that a dancer should be able to hold her own in a battle as well as serve a valuable purpose before and after the fight.

I'm really excited to see so many dancers who are or would like to be involved in the Galactic Civil War. PvP is one form of "end game" content and I'm glad to see that we're able to participate in it without feeling like our dance skills are a liablility. I know of several entertainers who felt they had to drop the dance/musician in order to be involved in PvP battles and I'm really hoping that this thread will help to dispell that notion.

Diversity is, as far as I'm concerned, the key to enjoying this game on a long term basis and I completely adore the fact that I can be a vicious killer one moment (well not so much with a pistol but I'm keeping the faith on that one) and the next moment I can be artistic and creative and beautiful.

Not trying to be offensive but why are we posting stuff like this. Dancer was so distroyed by the Chef patch that we are now talking about how to rationalize why NOT to drop the skill by finding a way to PVP or do combat? Wake up. TH NEEDS to do something here..or someone. I pay for an account that is master Dance Music Ent. If there is not a fix for Dancer soon i will cancel the acocunt and just buy food. This is the story with MOST guilds on Corbantis that have an ent buffer. FAR more valuable in ALL situations to be Chef rifleman than to be Dancer Musician. I do not have to have balance but I need rationalized meaning to how we actually matter. Right now we are the king of small tips so crates of food can be avoided. Our buff time is long and uneeded if we have food.

Ummmmm..... why are we posting this? If you readthe post it is pretty clear. We are dancers who like to fight and/or participate in the GCWand are sharing our experiences and tips with each other.

I understand not all entertainers are interested in this, noone here istrying to force it on you, hence -Silly- madea specific discussion thread which is clearly titled.

To address the Chef versus dancerconcerns. I am very nicely asked to dance multiple times at every raid/basedefense I participate in to mind buff and heal my group. Most non fighters aren't aware but when you die your food buffs are gone, however your stomach is still full. (You can't eat more food) Hence you can be carrying the greatest food in the world but one death and it's the dancer/musician who can help you. I can also get rid of the black bar CM's have wrecked on my friends mind and get them back into the fight. A chef can't help in those two situations, I can. However my chef is thanked frequentlyby me for supplying me with the best food possible to keep me alive. He is always excited to let me know when he's upped the stats on brandy and canapes for me and he's a hero in my eyes, not competetion. (I am sometimesthe only dancer so I buff them then eat and drink my mind. )

Ihope this gives you the insightyou seek.I am sorry (as well) if my response sounds offensivebut I come to these boards to share, learn, and have fun. The same reasons I play this game to begin with.I just get so tired of every thread turning into demands and complaints.
