Well, thought I'd share an experience I had tonight. I went on a huge raid with a group of fellow rebs tonight. A lot of the time, I was fighting using my TK skills. But, a good portion of the time, I was actually in a ranger camp on the outskirts of town dancing my little hiney off for my raidmates for both healing, and quickie passive buffs. It was actually pretty cool. The ranger camp settings are cool in the first place. But, there was also a musician on the bandfill, and I took out my effects droid. It was like a little party in the camp. It was actually pretty amazing to be dancing in the middle of battle, with laser shots flying overhead and my effects droid and the music. It was a pretty invigorating experience. And, I know that even when I wasn't fighting, I was being *very* useful to the people in my party. Some people even remarked how much it rocked (their words, not mine ) that they had entertainers along on the raid.

So, yes, entertainers can be very helpful and, well, entertaining and add a whole lot of fun to combat situations.

Exactly so and nicely put. We work in conjunction with and not against our culinary sisters and brothers. Please pass the Accarragm. . . err I mean herbal tea.

We just asked a guild chef to place a bartender in our player cantina, as a matter of fact. I know that for me, at least, it was a point of debate for a while, as some food stuff seems to actually compete with our abilities to serve our patrons, but I have come to terms with that concern. Not only can we provide them with quality mind and secondary buffs, we can alsooffer them the convenience of food to help them in the quest/mission/battle.The draw of live entertainers for buffsand entertainment is all that our cantina had over thecity's more centrally located cantina before. Now we can also offerthat superiorlevel oflive performance and service along withfood items when we aren't there. And as the official meeting place for the Bishops, we hope this is just one more way for us toprovide a viable service to the Knights.

BTW, last night Roho and I planned to have a fun adventure together on a hunting trip. However, the trouble it took to find a master musician for him, then a dancer for me and a doctor for both of us (without having to wait in line for 20 minutes at the Coronet starport - where I got bumped from the system twice, btw) ended up being more than myingame husbandcould handle after an already stressful RL day and he logged in frustration (oh, and the fact that I buffed him TWICE and neither one took didn't help any!). And this is a common problem for Roho. He's often the only ATKmaster musician on the planet - ANY planet! A fond memory is a time we went hunting on Tatooine - no buffs, no food, no drink. We had the most fun that day! The game should be fun not frustrating.

I also agree with the chef/dancer working together. You can take a brandy on top of a mind buff. Or, if you have a mind buff you may find some other food/drink is more usefull (def to kd, poison resistance, bonus to accuracy, unnatural toughness, just to name a few of your options if you don't fill your stomach with canape and brandy).

Perhaps we need a list of the various food/drink items and how best to use them with mind and secondary buffs?

Hiya Silly! I just have to say YOU RULE!

I used to have Alasrii be present at raids when she was neutral. My friends always made sure they were covert except for like one our two and I'd head out with them. It was fun raiding with all guys and myself.. a cute little twi'lek. Also another role for the dancer is handing out things.. I held crates of muon and pixie to distribute when people came back to the base.. and food/stims when they needed it. I made a joke and said I was a dancing vending machine. But the guys joked that they always got their money's worth. The good thing about it.. I couldn't get a tef since I was neutral at the time.. but one of my older friends was on the other side fighting. He saw me come out of the base and I sure did get an ear ringing, "What the **** are you doing??"

Alasrii doesn't have any fighting skills at all.. she's master politician/master dancer/some merchant.. so planning on getting her some good pvp armor if she goes raiding again.

Have fun silly!

No to sound too patronizing, but... why on earth do you buff if it is frustrating? I mean, you said you had the most fun when hunting unbuffed on Tatooine one day, and then you go and try to get buffs, and lose time and the hunting partner over it?

Try to remember, while you are dead meat in PvP without buffs (unless you go up against unbuffed people), unbuffed hunting is viable (and fun). I don't buff or wear armor for hunting, which means I can just go and grab a mission, and have challenging fun at once even on a starter planet. Does it really matter what CL the critters are you are fighting, as long as you have fun?

People sometimes act as if without buffs and 90% compositethey will die against a durni.

I don't understand your argument. Are you just trying to be offensive? We've had problemscommunicating witheach other before Leonae, and I've tried to be understanding. However, I don't appreciate this near-personal attack. I made a comment based on an observation. If you haven't experienced the same problem, then great for you. But, don't turn around and be condescending or make unnecessarily snotty comments. They are neither productive or welcome.

I think Leonae is just very passionate about Doc Buffs' wide usage and their impact on the health of the game... I think she just meant "aha! See? You had fun with no buffs! Do the no buffs more often and we'll all have more fun!" ... I think she hoped to be encouraging rather than attacking.

I myself do not believe in Player self enforced restrictions though. As long as it stops short of being an Exploit or hurting other players, I think most players will always push their game to the boundaries the mechanics will allow. Waiting for the Devs to counter these things that pop up (like everyone staying buffed) with "balances" and "nerfs" is part of what makes playing an MMO such a unique experience.

It keeps us on our toes.

I wasn't complaining only about not finding doctor buffs, but the fact that even as entertainers we can't find others to buff us. If we can't manage to get buffs from other entertainers - or if those buffs are so bugged as to be useless - then what incentive is it for combat profs to seek us out. They have food and drink now that can duplicate our buffs (abeit without the 2 hour time frame and with a death penalty) that they can use just seconds before going into battle or taking on a krayt.

Yesterday afternoon Roho and I did hunt - back on Naboo - and did so without even giving each other buffs. Wewere both killed a couple of times and got incapped more times than I can recall. We had fun, yes. Would we have had more fun with buffs? Maybe - our choice of quarry would have been improved, that's for sure.It was the company more than the hunt that I enjoyed. Could be that's why I enjoy being a part of PvP - the company.

hmmm... we could of course organise until the devs give us the ability to mindbuff ourselves. If every dancer would buff other dancers for free we wouldnt really have a problem. I mean there may be a lot of holos around but in most cantinas you can find at leats one master dancer who is actually playing.

Master dancer isn't a cruch to those who want to PvP... But having Master Dancer will hold you back from being a more decent PvPer.

Reason being is that to be good at PvP you MUST stack defense. Regardless of what weapon you choose you must stack the defense with its melee counterpart. After that, you done pretty much everything you can do skill wise.

Next you need top of the line gear which has nothing to do with you being a dancer.

And after all that... You will be good at PvP but when you come across those who put all their SP into PvPing, you will not last long for they stack defenses which you are unable to do.

And pistol is my favorite weapon and professian in the whole game. But w/o BH pistol you don't have enough speed/accuracy. You also lack any decent specials. Then the smuggler line is also good for a KD and stun. Well I'm not sure about stun or the delay because I know there been some changes. But for the smugger specials to be at all beneficial you need the speed from BH. So w/o that pistol is really no good. And even after you get most of that you'll still be lacking defense.

Once the developers cheapen BH more pistoller will be a much more diserable professian as you can easily get more with it teamed with BH. But for those who have master dancer... They won't be able to.

And dancer is fun! I have more fun in the cantina performing and talking to people in a group then anywhere else in the game. But dancer is also a cheated professian. Peopel get mind buffs usually for PvP but the dancer is left out since she can't buff herself.
