Thread: How can I practice my profession any longer?!
No, I'm just saying 75% of your orginal posts was a oh poor me, hate hate hate disdain disdain disdain, poor me.
This whole holo crazy has ruined *ALL* of my professions also.
I deal daily just like you do, with people saying "Blah, TKA is pathetic, it's a **edit**ty class" or "Riflemen, blah, they all suck, I hate this profession" (took my 2.5 months to level riflemen, cause I refused to grind it).
The problem is, if we all whine, and complaing, nothing will get done. We'll most likely get ignored.
You know, coronet cantina and theed cantina are a utter cess pit. avoid them. Startup a cantina in a player city. throw parties, bring all the real entertainers out of the cess pit, and make a enviroment that suits you.
I've actually (and yes I'm a combat player) traveled out of my way, to let a entertainer heal who I enjoyed talking to.
the old saying, you can't have your cake and eat it too. or something like that.
As for attack you Faelly, never meant to attack, I'm just sick of everyone complaing, and whining from there POV, without ever thinking, hey, wait a minute. what's there POV.

Please, your not that important.
Well that about sums it all up don't you think? Thanks for your wonderful supporton an issue that has drastically changed our profession. When will anyone understand
that this IS a serious issue. Perhaps when there are no more "true" entertainers left
and all you have is afk bots that could care less about you, your BF or that mind buff
you send me tells for. (using YOU here in general, not specifically targeted to any one
person). If all you want is the afk macroing, adolescent licking, and perpetual whining
about tips, well, guess what...YOU got it, in the biggest way SWG could have dreamed
for this profession.
For me personally, I'll dance for my own pleasure and my friends and for those
who want to be in my "oh not so important" presence.
Way to paraphrase .....
My point was, have you actually been more classes? A Creature handler? a riflemen, a tka? a smuggler? EVERY class has serious issues, and in some way is seriously broken.
honestly I support your issue, and a lot of others, BUT the problem is, there is drastic more issue that are more important currently. In my 6 months of play time, and 15 professions played, I can say every profession has drasticly changed. some Completely.
If your so upset that theed and coronet are filled with idiots, leave, go to endor, you have no idea how manytimes I've been on endor/lok/dantooiine/talus/dathomir and went, man I wish i could get a mind buff, or a heal.
Move out, explore. It's the same if I as a combat profession, spend my entire game life killing rills outside Mos Entha, I'd go crazy. See the galaxy. Trust me, you will find many more, happy, willing to tip, friendly combat people outside theed/coronet.
Un beknown to a lot of entertainers, I personally hate going to the cantina in theed/coronet. I will go out of my way to find someone at a player city, or in a far off lonely cantina. I'll spent 10-15 chatting, healing my bf. and be on my way, usually leaving a 5-10k tip.
So before you paraphrase me out of context, read the whole post. Your not the important one, every profession is important. And the DEVS in due time will address everything. posting FIX THIS NOW, etc. WOn't help.

Ummm.... then please explain to me who all those others are, if they're neither power-gamers or role-players.
Didn't they bill SWG as the game that was going to attract a larger audience, rather than the same ol' group ofonline players that migrate from game to game? Yes, Broog. I DO believe that the long-term future of SWG lies in the socializers and role-players.
Common knowledge, power-gamers are very low % of people in games. I've been playing online games since 1993. And I can assure you, very few are true power-gamers. A lot of people consider themselves power-gamers, but most aren't.
I run across and know of a LOT of people who casually play, my wife included.
Also, role-players are a small % also. Most people I know refuse to role-play in games, etc. Nothing wrong with that, and some do. once again it's your boat, float it how you want.
The % they were talkiung about is Fanboi's(fangrrls) who will play SWG, just cause it's Star Wars.
Meeuki, you're the reason mature players are leaving the game. I keep wondering why so many people like you choose to pay for a multi-player game so the can grind xp and tank mobs all by themselves. Now maybe I begin to see.
Is it that you feel so ineffectual and powerless in your real life, that it somehow makes you feel strong and potent to log in and grief other players with your anti-social attitude?
classic. I'M the griefer even though you are the bitch harrassing the group leader in tells. she's the one the deserves props for sticking to her guns and not giving in to a whining bully!!
but i'm the griefer for telling you that i wouldn't have been nearly as polite. i'm the ineffectual and powerless one even thoughi spend my entertainment time actually playing SWG not harrassing afkers and other peoplei disagree with. while you seem to spend your entertainment time crying like a baby about not being able to join an entertainer group.
It doesn't even make any sense. Why the hell would you want to "dance with dignity" in a group full of AFK entertainers? really, your story is riddled with holes. so much so that I doubt it ever even happened. you actually need to be in the entertainer group to dance with dignity? you would think dancing alone would be the way to do it with dignity, or in a group with just you and your friend.
so, in light of that, maybe you are the one who feels ineffectual and powerless having tofabricate storiesto argue about on the forums.
but fine. if ripping into a fool like you makes me a griefer i accept it. if only there was a title for it..... i'd wear it with pride.

I can't, most of the people I knew when I was growing up as a dancer either changed professions or left the game. The top reasons stated for this when asked were "lack of tips/respect" and "AFKers". I'm not making this stuff up. If I could find a popular cantina with lots of ATK entertainers, I'd be there every night, but I can't find one.
"Why can't you go to Bestine or Anchorhead, or Dantooine or Dathomir where people frequent often only to find no entertainers there and no way to heal their wounds?"
Most of the time I do find an AFKer there, but yes I could strike up a conversation with the random person entering looking for healing, but they're gone in 10 minutes and I won't see them again for hours, if at all. The other entertainers are what made the cantinas fun to be in because they became your friends, you got to know them, had conversations every day, had fun with them because they were there for long stretches and were your peers. The customers are not AFK, the other entertainers are.

NOW I do understand. So many posts to reply to was busy a lot this afternoon finally taking a quick break will cover what I remember...
Pickles I thought this whole time that most entertainers enjoyed socialization with PATRONS, and that's why we were not seeing eye to eye, and yes it makes sense you would not want to sit in a cantina alone for an hour for a potential 5 minute conversation with a bounty hunter with bad battle fatigue.
However, if all of your friends quit for lack of respect and tips, that is not my fault or any other AFK persons fault. If they quit because of AFKers, you should be mad at your friends! There are tons of cantinas in the game right now that are empty! I fail to see why an influx of people into the profession, whether at keyboard or afk, would make people quit? Once AFK-taining got popular just change venues! Hit a different 4-walled cantina. Join a player city and make a cantina! You won't see the afkers there.
There have been many, many in game things that made me want to quit but every time I was mad at the developers not the player base. The bugs, the uselessness of bounty hunters, the underpoweredness of bounty hunters, whole bunch of BH stuff actually, the Lowca server rollbacks of a couple months back...in fact if not for holomania and a shot at being a jedi I would have already quit, as there really is nothing left in the game for me that fits my playstyle right now (which means holocrons r a success because a lot of people would already have quit due to boredom).
If prior to holomania there were 100 dancers on your server, and after holomania there are 500 dancers on the server, the 100 dancers should still be there. If they left, blame them! Running away from a problem doesnt solve it. Your class did not get nerfed, your dances/songs were not taken away... and if the 500 dancers were all AT keyboard I fail to see how that would have made much difference since they were there to grind, not socialize.
So I do now see a little better what is upsetting you even though I think your anger might be slightly misdirected. If all my friends quit the game (dont have many I tend to solo and stay in my group with RL friends) I would be disappointed too, but I would take a group of people and make scapegoats of them. You have to consider that it is possible that some people eventually got bored of the game prior to AFKers and used them as a "straw that broke the camel's back" to convince themselves to quit.
When the devs nerfed FWG5 pistols and Scatter Pistols, they explained that the way they had been constructed allowed a certain item's bonus to count twice in the damage calculation. If my friends quit because of that would I hate the devs? No. The reason is, I would feel that even though I like my friends, they were being unreasonable. The devs spotting something not operating as intended, and fixed it, which is good for the game irrespective of whether my friends could kill things as fast as they used to.
I feel in this scenario if you friends quit merely because more people were dancing AFK even though they themselves, and you, did NOT do that, well then I think that isunreasonable as well.
Of course the fact that bounty hunter was broken for a few months and is still completely underpowered... well yea if I had BH friends get fed up and quit I would hate the devs. Actually I do hate the devs I just want to get a lightsaber for a little while then cancel.

*hurls a can of gasoline on the flames*
Let's see how high we can fan the flames this time, good people! Don't hold back, let it all out! At least a locked thread tells us someone at Sony is actually reading this stuff! Release that anger!
*breaks out the marshmallows and chocolate*
Now THIS is entertainment!

Yah, it is. It's a complicated lengthy study as to why the ability to gain mastery without work leads to lack of respect and financial reward, but people typically choose not to believe it (they believe what they want to), and it's pretty much in the past now anyway. Players were just being players. As a group, they're self-serving and don't care very much who they're tromping over to get to their goal.
It's the developers I reserve my disgust and true anger for. I cannot really blame them for not anticipating this problem (even though they should have seen it coming), but their apparent disregard for such a serious problem that has all but decimated the intended ranks of 3 professions is either the result of severe negligence, complete cowardice or implausible incompetence.

1. Sorry to hear about the experience. AFKers are typically kicked from the group if space is needed, that's true. A good policy I might add.
2. I was impressed with the response of the group leader, even if I didn't agree with his/her POV. He/she seemed "respectful" which is a refreshing change from l33t d00d, etc.
Thats all it took for the two Master Dancers to cop their attitude and become instant asses with a "we belong and you dont" elite stance. After that little spat, XP was sacrificed even if slots were open to not include career dancers. And I honestly can say, after the way they acted, I couldn't blame the group for it's attitude.
Im just glad Im done and am out of that scene. Ive seen less vindictive and spiteful people, on the both sides of the entertainer debate, in the PvP world. Thats pretty **edit** sad.

Actually, on my server, during the 5 days I was training master dancer...the group would not allow career dancers in because of their attitude. I witnessed it first hand just as you posted. The leader was very well spoken and politely explained that he was not kicking anyone from the group regardless of their status. Once an slot in the group opened up then he would gladly invite them.

Personally, if it was me, I'd have just whipped out the nalargon and started playing. You'd be amazed how quickly that gets me group invites. Though.. If the group was refusing to kick people who weren't there, I'm not sure I'd want to take up one of the precious spots in the group.
i feel the need to point out to the original poster, that as a maxed out xp dancer, you no longer need to be in the main group, depriving the slot to others who need xp, afk or not, hologrinder or not.
will you also deny service to the jedi who did not do any entertainer profession to open their fs slot? this is an over reactionary idea, to deny service to a whole group of people on this basis. i don't like afk entertainers either. nor do i have any love for holocrons or holobitches. however, i am trying not to get caught up in these hateful feelings on either side.
i would also like to add that as a maxed out xp dancer, i find myself giving much better performances when not grouped, or grouped only with those i perform for, because then i am not caught up with whatever gossip is going on in the entertainer group. you could also visit locations other than the main drag cantinas.
every profession is being damaged by the holocraze, it would be best if we all sucked up, stopped whining and dealt with it. this too, shall pass.
