I guess it's no surprise being told that we're being put off some more. We've taken it for more than a year, there's no reason for them to think we won't do it for another year. Or two. Or more.

They did add some things I liked in this publish though. /findfriend is a great little tool. Although it is wierd when you delete the waypoint.... I laughed ( ) when I got the message "You have destroyed javier." It sounded so horrible.
Anyway, now I don't have to resort to Nalargons!

Heh... I always found it amusing when you deleted a /waypoint when they were named after the planet. "You are about to destroy Naboo. Are you sure?" Made me feel like I was at the helm of the death star.

Panthu, NewJedi and myself don't like things anymore than you do. We're players too. And we take every chance we get. While Panthu was busy doing her magic, I had accosted Keldarin for a bit to run some of our bugs by him so they are fresh on his mind and he may see some code and go "Duh! This is supposed to be == not = and that is why it is broken" or something similar.

We're not just random people who enjoy special treatment. We don't really get anything special. Those "perks" are tools, and come at a price, or with strings attached. Sure we can make sticky posts, but if we do it outside our forums, or even abuse it on our own forum, we'll either lose the power to sticky or the position. The terminals on TC are nothing compared to the blue frog.. We can only master our own profession (Which we are all masters of already somewhere) and any base profession (All of which are pretty easy to master anyway). The summit was a business trip. Sure we made the most of it, but the price there was sitting around all day Friday in a meeting. And we get a private forum so we can openly discuss things that the devs may not want in the public eye for whatever reason.. Be it something unannounced, an exploit, whatever. Know what else we get? Abuse from the community. In a way we need that private forum as somewhere just to post openly, because some people (Not a majority, but the ones that do it are loud) take everything we say with undue weight, even when we clearly say it is an opinion or joking around. I've had people tell me my opinion doesn't matter, or tell me how I should be acting, or act like I owe them something. The entertainer forums usually aren't so bad, but some other forums can be very harsh to correspondents, especially correspondents posting out of their own profession forum.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

Yeah, guys, I have to say again, I'm a little off my game with the dog recovering from surgery and my grandmother's heart attack Monday. It's not stopping me from spending the time I need to be getting us ready for these talks and feedback sessions that will be coming once everyone has a copy of these design Docs, but it does have me a little extra flakey with my responses. Dog is recovering, Grandmother is home today and recovering, everything is fine, I'm just a little thrown off from my normal routine.

The big huge Doc I'm working on really does address all of our areas of concern ranging from how to give us more creative control over our dancing, to making leveling a more enjoyable experience for us, to giving us new Social options to generate income and have some fun and rewarding activities more to our type of target audience. I'll share it as soon as it's ready, but I am really jam packing this thing so don't freak out if there are huge chunks you don't like. My main goal in doing this is to give us some breathing room until we do get our Dev time with some easier solutions but still including and leaving room for the big things we want to see when the resources do become available.

Tiaga yes did say it... our potential is great, it also seems to still be crippling us from true game inclusion until we can reach that potential. I always freak out first then by the time you guys hear me talking about it I seem pretty calm. That's because by that time I've usually gotten a Dev response, often from Keldarin, and I see what the real vision for us they are wanting is again.

No one wants us to be Death Machines. Everyone wants us to be a totally new and unique playstyle. Half of our (ent corres and ent supportive corres which is pretty much all of them) time is spent on talking about what we need in the existing game to be a viable option and the other half of the time is spent on what we would really like to see happen but understand that it will have to come when the resources can be spent on it (ie: later).

We don't have any enemies, if anything we might be like an over protected and sheltered child, lol. The main thing I think we'll want to be talking about when you guys see these changes will be templates. I see some real possibilities for us here and if we can convince the Devs to give us a few little tweaks to our own tree, it would go a long way in solving some of our biggest obstacles as a viable profession in the Game World. I've been prompting you guys to talk about these things for months now. There is still a slight chance we can get some inclusion during the Sandbox phase... I just need you guys to stay open minded and I'll keep pushing for interaction. I know you get sick of hearing these things from me, Tiaga, NewJedi, and Kwee over and over again.

Tanks: Has never met a Dev’s Ear he didn’t like

Well, considering the BHs have a lot of issues and arole in CR, I figured I'd rather spend some of my spare time interacting with the devs. Missing out on socializing with some of the correspondants was not a small price to pay, but sometimes one has to make sacrifices. .

I've been fighting it, as it feels a betrayal to the musicians to which I owe loyalty...
But I can't keep it in any longer!
I have to join the ranks of people who say..

Garvin if you don't like the perks of your correspondent profession, quit. If the job is too hard or you don't enjoy volunteering your time, quit.I already said I wasn't being critical of Panthu personally. I am critical of the entire correspondent system as it is setup. Honestly if you guys didn't do a single thingother than post to these forums occaisionally a message that the devs were working on some thing (lie or not) we wouldn't notice a difference. If you did nothing at all aside from play the game normally and occaisionally post a response to a thread with a common knowledge BS answer... We wouldn't really notice a difference... The reason why is because everything you guys do for us is hidden from our view aside from the obvious like a stickied post or new discussion thread.

We only have your word that anything at all is being done or discussed. On an anonymous message board that's worth about as much as the words we type. Nothing but what vaule we give ourselves.

It's not personal so stop trying to make it so.

Yeah, I think we just have to leave it at that. *shrug* I could give you plenty of examples where Corre input has made a difference, but you would still have to believe me on some level. There will always be some filter system in place, no matter how many people are involved.

Email SOE, let them know if you feel that we need more representation. I can honestly say that I do see the worth of these positions, but I'm not in a position to provide evidence beyond my word. I'd like for the Entertainers to have more direct communication from the Devs (a larger pipe), but you'd just have to take my word for that too. *shrug*

Put it in an email, try it that way... or just ignore us I guess. Seems a little odd that this is coming from one of the two players whose posts I stickied and discussed with the Devs at the summit, but, yeah... such is the frustration of this little job.

You made it VERY personal when you made it sound like we do what we do because of "perks"...you couldn't be more wrong....

Whether I like or dislike what comes with being a Correspondent, that has nothing to do with it...I never said I don't enjoy being a Correspondent and everything that comes with it...BUT...I don't do it BECAUSE of what comes with it and it's not all the glitter and pizzaz you make it out to be...I do it because I think I can make a difference for my Profession on behalf of my Community that supports me...I have hope for my Profession and I try to pass the hope onto my community...And my community has seen that it does make a difference when one of them tells me an issue, I take it to the Devs, I bring back a response and that issue get's resolved...guess what, it actually happens...often times it takes a long time, or may seem to never come, but that doesn't mean the Devs didn't hear us...I can point to a ton of ingame issues that were resolved DIRECTLY because of Correspondent interaction...

What also happens is a ton if issues get resolved that you don't see because of our "mysterious" forum....Tons of Exploits get closed quickly and quitly that would be a major issue in a public forum...Imagine if the Devs tried to communicate with every Dancer in your forum instead of one voice that collects the issues...I bet if I asked every Dancer in this forum what the most important issues were to Dancers, I bet I'd get a few different answers...some of them would be concise...some would be not concise...How would I sort through all of that to get at the overall major issues AND then do the same for 35 other communities...It's much easier to deal with 36 Correspondents then 36 Communities...

I have never felt that my effort wasn't worth it...99% of the time the people I do it for appreciate it...the only negative is the 1% of the time when we have to deal with people who are unappreciative and accusitory...those people who, whether they intend to or not, devalue our effort and make us feel like we are working against them rather then standing with them...Thankfully that 99% is still there who really understand...who can see the bigger picture...and can see even the small differences we can make...

I'm just curious...and I don't mean anything personal or flaming about this...but it sounds like you've lost hope...if that's the case I have to ask, why do you still play if you don't feel like things will get better? You apparently don't trust what you can't see, and maybe you have good reasons to feel that way...just about every community has had to deal with the same type of issues....

If you do still have hope, how would you like to see the Correspondent System revamped to work better for you? What could we do better that would make you happier? Having no Correspondents and having the Devs deal with each community would lead to under chaos and unfocused issues. And having the Devs post everything they come up with in public forums would cause even more Chaos when they discover something was wrong or misleading (we've all seen that happen before and the serious negativity it lead to)...Seriously...how would you fix the Correspondent System...I'm happy to make sure the Devs see your ideas as long as they are realistic and not flaming.
