Where are the posts from our correspondent? Where is the stickied discussion about the current major issue that entetrainers are talking about? Where is the status report of things that have been passed along and any answer however far off into the future given?
good luck there she actually suggested getting any and all (including the sticky untill we protested) posts or threads about afking removed from the forum way to ignore the problem and comminuty further.
In an effort to consolidate them in a single post at the top of the page.....
no shee actually suggested getting rid of the stiky as well as in no none nada not one single mention of afk our biggest issue

LOL, even if that isthe case (which I highly doubt, sincethe health of our profession isone of her primary concerns as well), is there anything more that can be said? It's all been spelled out a thousand times over, often quite eloquently. The developers have heard our concerns. They've commented on them and have even now told us what to expect (or not expect, rather).
ok so now im a lier and im making it all up mmhrmmm this is thep robled with dancer and entertainer forums you attack any and everyone who disagrees with you ask goldy she was there she heard her say it. and so what if it has been spelled out thousands of time over this forum ids for us to discuss our issues as a dancer silencing them wont make them go away

Not by other players, and certainly not by the company that created us. We are abandoned. We are lost. We are hopeless. Why are any of us still here?
I don't think I can say anything to make you feel better to be honest as the situation is as it is. We've been nice, we've shouted, until we get recognition that our professions are fundamentally broken I don't see much changing.
In terms of the way I deal with it (helped admittedly by having less rl game time than I used to!) I do the following:
- /anon I don't want people to search me out unless they know me or see me performing.
- I left the cantinas a long time ago as they just aren't fun places, instead the hotel, theatre, and player cantinas can be more fun - you just need to make it so.
- I don't offer buffs. Contrary to what most of the server think, that is NOT my purpose, and not why I log in. As Warryrr said it is about having fun, and that is far from my idea of fun. Some might say that this only pushes people towards the buffbots...true. If someone asks me for a buff and pays up front (or is a friend) then I'll buff. But when I advertise my services and that of my band I am advertising us ENTERTAINING. Not getting rid of BF, mind wounds, or buffing. Until the buffbots are technically actually stopped, I will not advertise that I am capabale of buffing.
- Master Entertainer tag - I have this up because I am full ent, Dancer, Musician and Entertainer. It is also useful as people don't ask Master Entertainers if they can buff
Reading over what I just wrote I feel like one of those 'elitist' entertainers, but it's kept the game fun for me. At the end of the day if it isn't fun time to quit. I wouldn't dream of giving up my entertaining skills. To death us do part!

It's not Deila's job to *do* what we tell her to. It's her job to accurately represent our issues to the devs, usually in a summary-type manner, with the purpose of lowering the amount of input the devs need to read to know what's going on.
So, we don't get to tell her "raise hell!" or "be calm" - that's her prerogative. We *can* tell her "buffbots are our biggest issue" and she can get that information to the devs in whatever manner she sees fit, as long as it gets done. And the devs would have to be way dumb or blind to not realize that buffbots and afk play are a big issue for us. I for one believe that when they tell us they know it's a big issue, as they have, that they know it's a big issue. That doesn't mean that they're going to do anything about it, even though they say and I believe that they are. But it's a reflection that the dancer correspondents (past and present) have done their job and relayed this information to them.
As for suggesting that we spend our efforts coming up with ideas for the revamp rather than raising hell over buffbots, that was a suggestion she made as a person. She was basically saying "they know about the buffbot/afk issue, they have their plans set for it, you don't *need* to spend your efforts on it". She also said feel free to spend your efforts raising hell if you wanted to, but that she thought it wouldn't do any good. That did *not* mean "oh, it's not a problem if we just ignore it". She didn't say anything of the sort. She instead said "it's a problem, we all know it, they all know it, it's in the plans to be dealt with, so we can try and focus on something else with our energy while it's getting worked on". Nowhere does that say "it'll make things better to ignore it".
Finally, although I don't have a chatlog to back it up, I'm pretty sure she only at most floated the idea of getting rid of the sticky, asking *us* for feedback on if it'd be a good idea. I could be wrong, but I never got the impression that this was something she was planning to do without seeing if we wanted it or not (not that it would work anyway).
I just wanted to attempt to clarify those things, even if I wasn't able to in-game before.
And Ava, I'm sorry to hear of your frustration
. I hope both that the symptoms (your frustation) and the cause get better sooner rather than later.

Well Santa, first I'd likefor all of us Ents to be respected for the players that we are.
Then I'd like for the ALL the buff bots to just go away
Then all of the Entertainer bugs fixed, and all dancer flourishes be unique in each dance, and of course broken dances fixed.
Finally I want to win the lotto, for the $$ I'll need for the twins that are on the way.

Although I have to answer this question almost every day (an RL friend who was in the SWG beta as well but quit long ago tries to lure me to WoW...) and I still have trouble coming up with a reasonable answer. In the end I think it's mainly because I love playing music and dancing - and because it's so simple to put up a great show in SWG (compared to RL). There are other good points about entertaining as well: helping others, the strong, very heterogenous community, parties, rumor-mongering... but in the end it's all about the show.
Would I prefer a game with dances that look good to others as well, new songs, different locations to entertain in, fixes to annoying bugs, no AFK "play" and a playerbase that respects entertainers? Yes! But so far this is the only game that offers entertainer professions - I guess I'll continue to stick around for a while. (And maybe I'm just too stubborn to give up SWG to the bots and single-player types...)
One last detail: leaving the game for a couple of weeks, and ignoring the boards during that period, really helps. Then you'll see whether you want to go back to that world a long time ago in a galaxy far far away or not. I really hope it's the former

FuschiaD, I have been trying to think of something... anything... to say to make things better... or at least to feel better. I can't.
I feel the same frustration that you do. I have had to put my characters on auto-reject group invitations unless I expect and plan on joining a particular group.
I refuse to let it get me down though. Whenever the frustration of how so many players treat entertainers starts getting to me I just go hunting... either with one of my entertainers that has combat skills or with my Master CH. Then I go back... to the cantina or the ID Tent... and try to have fun as an entertainer (whether I am playing one of my dancers, IDs or musicians).
...and sometimes, I have amazingly good experiences with people who do recognize that I am a person.. and treat me like one. They are out there. Sure, they are getting harder and harder to find... just like live dancers/musicians are getting harder to find, but there are still a few. I think I may have even caught some before they were conditioned by the buff-bots & afk macrotainersand taught them how to treat a real liveentertainer.
