Thread: I'm so unspeakably frustrated. Beyond all comprehension.

Don' take it personally. It's part of human nature to stomp on those weaker than ourselves.
Let me tell you a story that may cheer you up.
I was leading a band in theed a few months back. I was dancing my lil heart out 'cause I wanted my Master dancer badge (I've left and picked Dancer up so many time it's stupid) when some Master Bounty Hunter came in.
Firstly, there was about 5 of us at the keyboard and the rest were AFKing (which I don't mind at all. We all get xp if we're in the band). I was having a conversation with one of the dancers who lived in Denmark and having a good time, the aforementioned Bounty Hunter joining in the conversation and we al had some fun.
My fellow dancer at one point announced that she had to go AFK for a few minuites and would be back shortly.
No sooner had she gone AFK, but the Bounty Hunter startssaying EXTREMELY lewd things about her, like how she'll cyber with anyone for 10k, and how kinky she is and making even more lewd /emotes at her. I turned to him and informed him that that would not be tolerated in this cantina and asked him to leave.
He responnded to me by exclaiming that I better learn my place and no whore will talk to him like that, brandishing his pistol at me and /slap ing and /spit ing on me.
So I invited him to a duel.
The second he accepted he was hit by 12,000 points of flame thrower goodness, after which I explained to him that I was also a Master commando as I deathblowed him and reported him for sexual harassment.
The moral of the story is this: TAKE your respect and if they still harass you, kill them and report them.
And I guess if you have no combat skills, the moral of the story is to just get sexually harassed and hope a CSR comes by eventually? If you can't defend yourself, you're left to get deathblowed yourself and harassed more, with the benefit of being humiliated as well.
I think the moral of the story is, no player should ever feel that a dancer has "a place" and they need to "learn it" since they're a "whore." That attitude shouldn't be in this game in the first place. We are worth nothing to some folks, and they don't care about telling us so. If we don't have combat skills, I guess we just stand there and take it.

Why are any of us still here?
I've pondered this extensively, myself.
I guess the answer I've settled on, for myself, is that I like to help people.
God help me, but I'm someone who feels greatly satisfied by helping people. More satisfied with someone genuinely saying "Thanks!" than with new loot. More satisfied with a nice tip showing how appreciate someone is, than with obliterating yet another nest of Rancors or Janta. More satisfied with being in an environment that's laid back, explaining some nuances to a newbie where we have all the time in the world, than teaching someone Combat on the fly with the "rush, rush, rush" air that inevitably envelopes a buff session (the "get your money's worth" syndrome).
Why are any of us still here?
Because we feel rewarded with what we do. We have fun for the sake of having fun and goofing off. We don't get crazy because after the 10,000th hour of dancing we get an uber red Lightsaber Crystal. We get crazy because we like having fun while we play our game.
Even with all the frustrations, the hate, being despised by many, and so on - it's those people who truly appreciate how I help them, that make it all worthwhile. It's the 100 credit tip from a newbie who has 250 credits to their name (and my "surprise" game with them of Warryyr's Chance Cube - Red means next buff is free (they get the Chance Cube, to trade for a buff), Blue means they get their tip back x 10).
I'm very much empathetic to your frustration, though. It can all get to be so much sometimes. It's caused many folks to drop Entertainer and never look back. I've been that close before
A little break, and a refocusing on how I help people, made a difference.
I still hate how things are in this game for Entertainers right now, though. ![]()
EDIT: Because I still can't find a Wookiee-sized keyboard, and I just can't do a THING with these paws...

I may be wrong about this Va-Mei, but I think Fuschia is more concerned about the way all entertainers are being treated by the people coming into the cantina wanting buffs.
I know that when I played as Sal'tee or one of my other entertainer characters I just automatically did my best to take care of the combat types as they came through the door. When they threw out an invite or asked if they could join the group I just did that for them no questions asked. Other players though, like Fuschia, take it personally when they are treated like an it instead of another player.
Whether or not you can let it go or work around it, it's a major problem. This is happening on every server with more and more regularity. New players are basically being taught to see the role of entertainer as NPC. Vet players are numbing to live entertainers and choosing to use bots for entertainment as they can avoid all player to player interaction.
What I would like to know is, where are our correspondents? What is happening between them and the developers... What issues are being discussed and considered?

It seems you both have the wrong idea(s) as to what our correspondents are/do. Don't dare hold them responsible for any problems you are having with SOE. They are simply players, just like we are. They have no power and no say, but they sure so get a lot of crap from frustrated players. Don't throw out blame blindly. Aim it at the right target, not our fellow entertainers.

all I know is what I have seen and when most of the comminuty(dancer) is saying buffbotts are abd hey hurt us something needs to be done soon not later and they go oh lets just wait and add feedback*because we all know how well the devs listen to our feedback ie theatrical* then that orrespondent id following there own agenda not mine and not the majority of the dancers i have seen heard or talked ot.
......I've yet to see an entertainer correspondent support the idea of a buffbot being a valid form of gameplay.
All the Correspondents can do is provide community feedback on their forums and hope for attention. They are seeking the same attention that every other profession in the game is seeking. The developers have their own timelines set out. They will not play with the entertainer professions until our revamp arrives. We can ONLY complain about developer inattention, not correspondent ineptness. There is a good deal of information out there concerning the wishes of the entertainer majority. I'm quite confident that our entertainers have presented those issues to the developers time and again.
If you don't feel that our issues have been adequately represented, email Sony Online Entertainment and voice your concerns. Otherwise, do not make ridiculous accusations about correspondent inattention. Deila (as well asher predecessor) is quite a capable young woman.

Where are the posts from our correspondent? Where is the stickied discussion about the current major issue that entetrainers are talking about? Where is the status report of things that have been passed along and any answer however far off into the future given?

I believe Tiggs posted a short time ago providing us with a basic timeline of the upcoming developer focuses. What more can they tell us? Our correspondents are restricted by some heavy NDA's. I think most of her "updates" would consist of "We're still waiting to hear back from the devs."
LeBob posted the most recent entertainer issue submissions in the Entertainer forums a short time ago, as well. I believe they were current through November? You might want to check those out...
