I suspect removing the recursiveness may be the only way they can remove afk WITHOUT legal issues. It's my understanding that changed the legal stuff to ban AFK can have some legal consequences. However obviously changing an in game mechanic doesn't and the fact that you aren't allowed 3rd party tool in a trice AFK because bannable.
Having said that I love recursive macro's when chilling out with friends in a cantina for instance so I'd hope that we can make macro's pretty long in length.

Don't forget that we don't need to spam flourishes any for buffing and flourishing or not flourishing (so far) has no effect on inspiration... So the need for macros is greatly diminished anyway, making it easier to make a non-recursive macro that will work...

First of all it has not even been confirmed, it's not like Devs in the past didn't make "funny" statements and then "forgetting" to follow on them.
But if, by any miracle, it would actually happen I don't understand why would it be so hindering and game breaking to your Jedi. Is it really so hard to create a looooong unrecursive macro and just press it once in a while as needed?

No it's not game-breaking - its yet another thing taken away without consulting the overall fan base , and yet another of the things that made SWG so cool - it USED to be about how different SWG was, now everything has been dumbed down. How many small little nerfs are they gonna throw at us? Theres a million work-arounds - and for those cheerleading this aprticular change - it wont do a single thing to stop the buff-bots - people will just use out of game afk macros like they do in every other MMORPG - What it will do is drastically reduce the number of overall entertainers - not increase them. First they take away the mind buff, and while im a big fan of the new xp bonus buff - its not the same. Now they take away the ability to leave someone in the cantina to help get rid of BF - its not to increase the enjoyment of the game - its a time-sink - now people have to spend 20 minutes looking for a entertainer rather than go to where they know one will be.
Another use of recursive macros is to keep you from getting auto logged out. I frequently use one called smile - and thats all it is
/smile;
/pause 50;
/macro smile;
I get a significant number of emails per day and it is not uncommon for me to spend an hour or two sending and replying and answering tells/chatting in between. Without that simple little recursive macro - i cant do that without stopping what im doing to move around to avoid auto-logoff (and before anyone jumps down my throat - this happens even with auto afk thing unchecked) Its NOT game breaking - its just another little bit of enjoyment taken away from players who use it. It wont fix buff bots - if i have to put a weight on my enter key or runa long non recursive macro for my buff bot - I will - (i wont violate TOS with an out of game program but im sure many will) - and if ultimately SOE nerfs entertainer to the point its not viable to be a buff bot - then ill cancel that account - thereby reducing the number of entertainers overall available. (and for thsoe fo you saying good riddance - when 60% of the ppl doing entertainer who are also buff bots go - how high a priority do you think entertainers will be then?) Who would you give more attention to? thousands of jedi/BH/riflemem = or a few hundred dancers? Think about it

Well, go ahead and cancel your bot now then. 'Cause I think SOE has shown us one thing in the past couple months: they are dedicated to bringing the game in line with what their vision of it should be even if that vision doesn't match the current player base's.

Meh recursive macro or not there will still be plenty of buffbots. And thankfully too, since the majority of ATK entertainers are not up late at night. I support both ATK and Buffbot entertainers sinceone if good for RP and one is good for functionality of the game.
Butit will be ironicif SoE succeeds in getting rid of buffbots altogether and be forced to put in NPC entertainers to heal BF.

Its called a World Map.. You open it up, then you click on cantina, then you look for alittle "Sun" symbol next to a cantina name... that means there is an Novice + Dancer or Musician there...

The devs should just simply make it where if you're AFK, you can't do a macro or where it interferes with the looping of one
