"I hate to say it, but Bloodfin there has a point. AFKing just got much much worse"

I'm not sure how that could possibly be. In my experience combat types almost always go AFK anyway, so more AFKing is not really possible.

Oh, never mind - you're talking about entertainer AFKing

On the question of buffs, how about this?

Entertainers can craft "favors", just like knights used to carry in the middle ages. These can give a large buff to people's minds, but relative to their importance as favors (level of intimacy?). Like a handkerchied gives +25%, stockings more, etc. etc. I don't think that it would be hard to make a different set of favors for males and females, right?

LOL, I know most poeple won't like the next idea, but how about making it so that only one of each type of favor can be given to someone. So that it really is a favor. That way, Chef's also have a role to play, since they can give to everyone equally. Maybe have the top favor give a very large buff, but can only be given to the entertainers' champion? LOL, well I think that it would be terribly romantic. It would definately aid in some roleplaying scenarios and perhaps cause more duels to take place? Now there could be tournaments for an entertainers' favor. The favor can last as long as it is kept by the person, but has to be renewed by seeing the entertainer once every 6 hours? Well, this isn't very well thought out, but just bouncing some ideas around. /sigh Oh well

I'd agree, except that's not what's going to happen. The current setup on Test only requires 10-13 minutes of /watching to get a 90-minute or so buff. If you're also healing your BF and mind wounds at the same time, it could take that long any way.

Make the buff instant and then you will definately have a method of makeing cash you should also push for effects to be 50% of players stats other wise you will be destroying the food and spice markets;.

No, it won't. The buff enhancement on Test is a 100% doubling of the mind pool for dancer, and a similar buff for Focus/Willpower for Musicians. The key thing to remember is that this will stack with foods and spice buffs. It is not a competition - it is an enhancement.

Speaking of which, Reblsoldier, aren't you tired of trolling the Dancer boards with your whining? If you work through your Chef correspondent (or when you get one, since your first one betrayed you all and resigned) you will get much farther with fixing the chefs. Nobody's arguing they need loving - but you're barking up the wrong tree if you think Dancers can do anything about it.

"I wish the developers would forget about these silly tweaks to the way we heal, and JUST GIVE US MISSIONS WE CAN RUN FOR A SMALLPROFIT! Priority 1 should be to get us out of Coronet and Theed cantinasand get usmoving around the galaxy again in response to mission requirements. Giving PvPL33ts a mind buff is (in my opinion)just a waste of time andenergy."

I think you're unto something there Beery

How about if missions entailed our having to go to remote locations (but known to be busybased on combat population statistics)around the galaxy and perform for a specified amount of time. After performing for the required time, we would then receive our pay.

I know this seems more like a job assignment but it would solve two problems;

1. Additional income potential for financial strapped entertainers and,

2. Relocate entertainers to areas of the galaxy needing entertainer healing. This way you would address the ever increasing complaints from combat typesto implement alternatives to mind healing because there arentany entertainersin remote combat locales.

Theassignments could be scheduled for times that are known to be the busiest and of course the payout would have to be commensurate for the time invested.

Missions are also currently being worked on. Which is why I have a whole thread dedicated to ideas on how to change them. The missions are going to take a little longer to adjust then the mind buffs tho I'd be willing to bet. But they are a very important issue thats being worked on just as hard right now as the mind buffs are. Between the two (once their working as intended at least) hopefully most of you will be happy.

(out of character)

I also think that the mind buff shouldbe targetable. Otherwise it will only increase the urge and pressure for powergamer PA's to level upmore AFK robots. And there should be a popup box tomake it harder forAFK patrons to receive the buff. AFK patrons can be really annoying. I constantly spend effort trying to perform for people whom I later realize have not even watched my performance or read my emotes. Because the AFK sign doesn't pop up immediately and patrons move in and out of the cantina it is even harder to recognize the AFK patrons than the AFK dancers :-(

The idea with entertainer missions that make you travel to remote combat areas and perform there is basically nice. However it can also backfire. Players might think that every entertainer is on a mission and already got paid and thus might stop tipping entirely. Maybe there is a way to work around this problem though, dunno :-)

Ravenmist, I've also been testing the buffs on Test Center, and I've had better luck with the ratio of time-played to buff-duration than you. I buffed Zarlor, a Master Doctor, for 13 minutes; the buff lasted one hour and twenty minutes! That's a ratio of 1:6, a big improvement over 1:2. Maybe it was a fluke; I'mabout to log on to try it again.

Incidentally, I've started threads in the Musician forum inviting suggestions on how to encourage people to be at their keyboards, and on how to improve gig missions. They're "sticky-ed" over there, so they're easy to find; Dancers' comments are of course most welcome.

Hi, Luq Windham here, master doctor and soon to be master swordsman. I've got a question about you guys and dolls wanting to make the buffs targettable. Will you still be able to buff multiple people at once? If I already have to sit for 15 minutes in the cantina (5 minutes longer than I usually want to), I don't want to have to stand in line for added time on top of that. I imagine you'll see a lot of docs wanting to trade buffs after this next patch gets applied.

I'm hoping that we can buff more than 1 person at a time, but since they aren't targettable on Test yet, we have no idea what will happen with them.

I've a swordsman too and I can't wait for the improvements to the mind buffs. As they are now, I get missions, hit the cantina for a buff and then run as fast as I can to try finish both missions before the buff runs out. It beats the downer from Muon Gold (so embarassing!)

If buffs become targettable, I'd love to see the number of buffees dependent on skill.

Say, the number you can target is equal to your Dancing Technique boxes +1 with a bonus for Master Dancer. Say.....

Novice Dancer - 1 target
Technique I - 2 targets
Technique II - 3 targets
Technique III - 4 targets
Technique IV - 5 targets
Master Dancer - 8 targets

Just a thought. I'm still not certain that it should be targettable, but I can see why so many people want this. ANd if it happens, I really hope we can choose more than one patron.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

I was thinking the same thing!
