Wow, you didn't even clearly state what you were saying and now you're trying to turn it around on me as if you don't know how I came to that conclusion. You yourself said you had re-read your own post and realized that you didn't state what you were talking about. Don't try editing posts as an insult. The proof that you were the reason I came to that conclusion is right there in your many edits.

I still stand by my statement that this will stop stop someone from using an AFK bot.3rd party programs can alsopress any one of the f1-f12 keys, and how would anyone take notice if they just didn't speak? People already are using 3rd party programs in this game, I have no idea why but I know that they do because I've seen the codes you're supposed to edit into them myself on other forums(I was playing lineage 2 at the time). With all of these ghost towns in this game, it's entirely too easy to hide and do the exact same thing. This won't stop crafters who use these programs to pump out item after item and sell them all day long for millions. It will only stop legit players from being able to run their character while they are at work or asleep(it was written in by the devs and they knew it was there so no point acting like it was wrong). Big deal.

I'll just log out when I'm AFK and there will be hardly anyone on late at night. Won't hurt me any. You'll still see less players just like you do now, you'll still see AFKers only standing still instead of dancing or surveying, and you'll still see a million and one ghost towns cause there is simply nothing to do right now.

So congratulations the game is fixed?

Tralmek,
Minority opinions did end slavery, give wemon the right to vote, etc.. No doubt those were good things. But that comparison is a gross oversimplified. Clever, but mis-guided. And generally, I really don't think you can compare AFK buff bots to Abolition or Wemons sufferage.

At this point I think we should end this thread because we are dangerously close to proving Godwin's Law.
http://info.astrian.net/jargon/terms/g/Godwin_s_Law.html

And I'm right btw. I did get flamed. And buff bots will not go away if and when SOE removes recursive macros.

Screw you hippies, I'm going AFK.

I'm almost amused by the fact that people who agree with this are acting high and mighty as if the people who do not agree are wrong and in some cases bad for being against this change.

Drop the holy hero act, it doesn't apply. People who do not agree with this are not wrong, and people who do agree are not right. There is no right or wrong and we're all entitled to our opinions. I think this won't change a thing and personally this game made me appreciate macros when I used to hate them and I even asked the devs to remove them in the beginning. So the devs making a change like this now in my eyes seems pretty wrong, but in the end it's their decision. I'm going to make my voice heard just like all of you, and I will continue to post my opinions just as you do.

What I'm seeing right now is a couple of people who agree trying to shut out those who don't agree so it sounds as if everyone here is in agreement. I don't back down from flames and flames are coming from both sides myself included. The more people try to shut out those who do not agree, the louder I'll get until both sides of the argument are heard and something we can all agree on occurs. Quick fixes do not fix anything and since this hasn't even had time to register with many, it's definately a quick fix. If it's such a good idea I'm sure they could wait and hear opinions from many before dumping it on us.

Wow quite the explosive post here, their will always be 2 sides to consider, however though both though can't always be right, and valid resaonsfrom both sides of the 'fence' to consider and weigh out. Anyway I won't inject myself to get drawn into this heated debate, so I've said what little to say though, so discuss further or not.

Side note: Taewyn & Oqua (and the alts yas have) Both myself and Rob will always love yas so stay frosty my good friends.

The precise implementation of the change remains to be seen, but I'm glad to see that Tiaga is already on the case, churning out detailed proposals on how really to seal off the recursive macro that runs for hours.

If it's done right, this will kill off buffbots quite nicely. Those that remain will be easier to target as violating the EULA. I for one won't hesitate to report them if I spot them.

Uh it's already been done, they just didn't kick everyone off so people who haven't stopped their macros can still use them until the server restart. I edited my macro to change it up some and it stopped looping so I just copy/pasted the lines and send myself a tell when it needs to restart.

What if they take away the ability to disable the Auto-AFK feature? Seriously, if there's no activity at the keyboard for 30 minutes then the person is definately AFK! And once the AFK kicks in then have stuff being done to the character. And people using external programs to AFK entertain can start to be targeted as EULA violaters.

This will stop the 24/7 afk bots in game unless they are using an outside program which will get you banned (and I will report someone using autoit or something similar and wont tip anyone whos got an afk tag over their head). This is a great move to save the cantinas and also save 2 professions for the afk crapfest it has become. Good job devs!

That's going to be almost impossible to prove. I play all the time where I'm watching TV, washing dishes, etc. People send me tells and I don't respond. So I guess, if that happens I'm going to be considered a "Violator".

I'm actually a little worried about that because I really don't reply to alot of tells anymore, too many people bother me for stat migrations and buffs, sometimes I happen to play just to talk to friends but people don't understand that and start acting like I'm a machine here for there service.

There are other ways of finding out if you're using an outside macro program besides you not answering to a reply. Going afk is not against the rules

I'm sorry, Naish, but I see a different majority than the one you see. In fact, you all have been the MINORITY opinion in all of this. Because day in and day out, despite what you think, I see players from all over really enjoy the cantina atmosphere I create. They don't even go to the boards because, quite frankly, they have no real stake about what goes on here. They are too busy having fun to worry about these issues you are describing. They will be alright. They'll find a way to have fun with whatever game is given to them.

And what war are you fighting? What do you think victory means for the side you oppose in this struggle? More importantly, what would you consider a victory for your side? The elimination of these professions?!? Its not up to you, or me for that matter, whether these professions stay or go. Its part of the simulation. Deal with it or pack your bags. Which is, ironically, the same advice you gave all of us who are trying to figure out how to play these professions at the keyboard when the bots are everywhere.

What was sad is the fact that many, many other entertainers who were still learning the ropes about this business were never given the opportunity to grow in their chosen profession. Because the masters who did all the healing and buffing never showed them how to be better and never introduced them to the business. How could they whenbuffbots were never at the keys to show them how to amuse? They took, and they took, and they took....and they never gave back.

I also saw many, many other players who never were entertainers get frustrated because they never could compete on a level footing with you powergamers amid your spare lots, bots, accounts, and other advantages. A spare account even gave you more of an incentive to troll on these boards. Because you knew if you were ever banned, you'd have another account.

Because the truth be known, Naish, you never created alts to mimic player actions to benefit the community. You did these things to benefit your own private interest. And all you did was create dead cities and PAs where the real membership is only half of what it actually was. No wonder player cities are dead. You all prop them up with your alts.

What would be a fun galaxy to be involved in? A galaxy of 20 players? Or a galaxy of 10 players playing (or non-playing) 20 characters? I know which one I'd choose.

And how many 14 day subscribers never took the step to purchase the software and get an account because this is "An Empire Away from the Keyboard?" Because you never showed by your use and promulgation of macro driven alts how great of a game this is. You only showed them what a boring and broken game this is.

So now--heavens forbid--you are going to have to play the game. A game that, I admit, will be much more challenging. Isn't that what you want?!? A game that frankly had to become more challenging because advantage seekers like you made it too easy for yourselves to master professions in a few days. So rather than create places where I and the vast majority of players have never been and never will go (DeathWatch Bunker, Bio Labs), SOE decided to make the things you took for granted more challenging. And it means that you'll have to find a way to adapt, like everyone else has to. And all it means is you'll have to do things differenly than how you have been doing them.

II had to go to work....But when I got home, this was a good laugh waiting for me...

Those edits never changed what I was saying, it was all spelling or gramatical errors....

As for you, your reading comprehension is sevearly lacking...I explainedthe timer conceptto you three times,*everyone* else who read the thread was able to digest the information without it being mapped out for them, except for you.

Again, you need to slow down and read more carefully....I could see it in the begining of the thread when you tried to argue with me about the "vocal minority"....You *do not* read other peoples full post, you skim them and then you go off....At least 4 times in this thread your replies showed that you had no idea what the person wrote...And not just about the timer either .

Edit: I did just take out the last lineof this....

But I wanted to point out that all my posts, were edited and done *before* you made your posts...The original concept post was edited 1 hour before your post and not touched...Nothing changed, you just did not read it...
