Thread: Top Five to Ten Issues for Dancer
2.) AFK. Make extended unattended "play" against the TOS. Enforce the TOS!
A technical solution to get rid of AFKers would be nice as well, but as players find always a way around such guards, such behavior must be against the TOS or the whole point becomes moot.
3.) Falling. It is useless, and makes us look stupid (either falling or holding a knife, although the knife can come handy to ward of some patrons).
4.) Fix the broken base dances. They make us look stupid and/or drunk.
5.) Missing/borked flourishes. Add a full set of 8 unique, motion captured flourishes to every dance. The hand-animated flourishes added later on are truly horrible.
6.) Fix buff bugs. This includes but is not limited to issues like: self buffing, simultaneous dance/music buffs, buffs breaking because of meditating customers...
7.) Increase payout for entertainer missions, and scale it according to skill level (and distance, they should always cover transportation cost). Since everybody seems to be afraid of the availability of buffs without bots, add new mission types like "fly to ___ and buff 5 people." Still not too exciting but comparable to other profession's missions.
8.) Content. New dances, rebuilt cantinas in some NPC cities, entertainer quests, something in regular intervals.
9.) Fix that huge list of bugs that are known and annoy us every single day since beta.
Bugs:
- Outlaw all unattended gameplay
- Fix seemingly random Heal XP generation stop
- Fix minor bugs like %TT in buffing format string ( it's a shame that this is still in there )
- Fix registration bugs
- Fix musician/dancer dual buff bug
- Fix Lyrical and Formal
Nice to have:
- Less falls
- Weapons should have no influence on falls

7)Drifting. Some dances are drifting horribly, a perfect lineup looks horrible after a few minutes of doing some dances. Why can't you just "anchor" a dancer to the spot he/she started? Once a flourish is done you end on that spot again. A flourish starts on that spot. (Dances where the auto-dance moves around a lot, like Formal/Lyrical would perhaps need a special treatment here, since it would look strange if you warp over the dancefloor when starting a flourish, but dances like Popular 2 or some other with drifting would profit from it.
Yeah, it's actually not the flourishes themselves that cause drift, it's where you start them from. Every flourish I've tested has ended exactly where it started. The drift happens when a flourish starts while the core dance has moved you out of position. Personally I dislike drift, but there are a lot of dancers who find it useful in their perfomances...controlling it so they can move around the room to customers, dancing around objects, that sort of thing. A solution, I suppose, could be to make the core dance a flourish in and of itself, so you can only start a flourish at the point where the core dance loops. But, that would lead to the dances just turning ugly IMHO. I can deal with drift if that was the only other option.
Two thoughts come to mind on this. The anchor would work, but have the anchor be to the original starting position. Currently as it is implemented, the anchor resets itself to the point where the most recent flourish starts. If the anchor remained a constant, then once the flourish ends, the drift should auto-correct back to the original start point. One of the reasons I think the anchor moves is that when a flourish is initiated, it interupts the base dance, does the special routine, and then the base dance restarts. It's almost as if the dance is being restarted in the background at that point. Rather than interupting the base dance entirely, have the flourish pause the base dance, do the special routine, and then pick the base dance backup at the point it was "paused". I don't know how ugly that would be in practice.
A secondary idea to stack on top of this would be to allow for a toggle on drift. I, and many other dancers, can and do use the inherent drift to control movement around the dance area. Just as you can toggle bandflourishes on and off, why not be able to toggle the drift as well. Or, as Coreena also posted in response to this as well, allow for "dancer movement" very slow, but allow us to move while dancing in a way that doesn't stop the performance all together.
Just some brainstorming on current ideas.Between all of the posts, someone or another has hit on any ideas/bugs/wishes that I might post out there.

For real, we are so lucky to have two very awesome guides in here! /cheer Lei /cheer Sultrina *nods*
Ok, time for the break down?
- Full sets of motion captured flourish sets for all dances.
- Fix lyrical / formal dances
- Make dancer missions pay at least as well as recon mission and let something spawn at the target location that fits to the type of the mission.
- Bring these quests live and improve, add detail or add even more on a regular basis - and while this is done add some nice items, as a exquisite leotard equivalent for males into them.
- Drag the whole crappy stuff from the holocron into the garbage can, buy the "Sultrina's dancing school" and "An invitation to dance" threads from their authors and put them in.

hm... just a minor thing that didn't fit in: Give newbies better starting clothing. I keep loosing outfits to newbies.
EDIT 2004-09-20: Replaced "exploration missions" with "recon missions"

5. Make a series of partner dances - like the tango, or waltz, or salsa, etc. Have it so two dancers who have the ability can do it together in sync, and holding each other. Also make it easier for large dance troupes to coordinate their actions
Yeah, I subscribe to that, too.
Problem is, should we ask for that we can for nothing else. That wouldn't just be new "content" or a bit of programming, that would be a completely new module to program. (And I guess JTL goes first *wink*)

Yep, but since you are the one who started it, you shall be the one to count. *smirk* *tease*
Well sorry guy, i vote for if this were a free server the minority who dont use features like macros and bots should have whatever their geeky little hearts hold true to life.... oh i mean the fictional world of SWG. It's not though and i pay to play. My case is though i have a career, not a job, so i only have time to play a little each day. so if say for instance i want to even make a dime i leave my char going a couple of hours extra which if i were you i wouldnt complain about because the bigger the dance group/ band the better the traffic attending. and also if anyone here thinks its shady of me to say this stuff tough! i have three votes you have one.
