First off, its just stupid for anyone to even bother griping about macros, afk players, multiple accounts on same server, and last but not least how i play or dont play the game. i pay for three accounts so that should, by your standards, mean i get to vote on this three times.
Well sorry guy, i vote for if this were a free server the minority who dont use features like macros and bots should have whatever their geeky little hearts hold true to life.... oh i mean the fictional world of SWG. It's not though and i pay to play. My case is though i have a career, not a job, so i only have time to play a little each day. so if say for instance i want to even make a dime i leave my char going a couple of hours extra which if i were you i wouldnt complain about because the bigger the dance group/ band the better the traffic attending. and also if anyone here thinks its shady of me to say this stuff tough! i have three votes you have one.

I...have a job. It's true. I have a job that was part of the reason I had to stop playing last year at this time of the year. I dunno if anyone's noticed I haven't been around much lately. I have a job that requires me to work about 50-60 hours a week during calendar year end and June/July (fiscal year end). I have a life, I have friends. I go out. (it's true). I haven't logged on in a week, I think. Because I don't have time too, really. Doesn't mean I don't want to. But, as I type, I'm thinking how I really must just go to bed after this post because I'm tired as heck and I have another full day to work tomorrow.

All this time, I'm realizing people are achieving things in the game while I am not. I don't begrudge them the fact that they have more time to play than I do. And, I certainly don't think that having a full life, and a "poor me, I don't have time to play and get uber powerful like my neighbor! wah!" is a valid argument. If someone has more time to play and to powergame than I do. Then, by all means, they DESERVE to have achieved more in game than I have because of the choices they make in regards to time management in their real lives. Perhaps they aren't making as much money as I am in real life? Maybe they're making more? Whatever. It doesn't matter. We all have choices to make. And, we all achieve things in our lives in direct relation to how much actual time we spend on them. If I choose to actually go to my job instead of play, then I do so willingly, knowing full well that I am not gaining as much from the game as someone else who is choosing to play instead of getting a full time job, or whatever the case may be.

Don't have time to play? Thems the breaks. If anything, I think it's completely and utterly unfair for *anyone* to expect the right to be OWED the same kind of experience, money, etc. from this game than someone who is devoting actual man hours to playing. It's completely and utterly unfair to those who are investing the time and energy to be live and ingame. If you want to be as good and as rich as the next guy, then it's up to you to find the time to play more. Yes, I'd like to have more stuff and money and all that. But, I have made choices to *not* do that because other things are a bit more important at the moment for *me.* I suspect there are things, like your career, which are more important to you. We all have to make sacrifices. But, to expect the same benefits as someone who is willing to devote time at the expense of other things is just not right, IMO.

So many people use this argument, and I've never really addressed it and I just felt the need to do so right now because it's just irritating to me that people...whether in game, or in real life, think they are *owed* something. Nobody is owed anything in life (or in game). You want it, you gotta work for it.

I just thought of something while i was reading this again and i only put 5 so im adding another =P

something tiny. not too important. minor tid bit action going on here.

the /denyservice command

shouldnt be our choice to add people to this list? and yes we can add people but ineffectivly. if i really wanted to keep someone there i would have to write down their name on a big old list and add them every single day(or if i logged out for a bit during)kinda making this command useless. all i want is maybe an extention. a kinda cooldown period maybe a few days or even a week. it wouldnt be forever and it shouldnt be so it would give both me and the other party some time to either forget it ever happened or straighten the situation out.

1) ELIMINATE BUFFBOTS (I have only a few issues with AFK entertainers..tho they are frustrating...but AFK buffing must go!)

2) ELIMINATE BUFFBOTS (this is for Docs, as well..if you cant survey AFK, you shouldnt be able to buff AFK, either)

3) fix the dance/music simultaneous buffing issue

4) allow group leaders to kick members without having them targeted, (i.e. 'out of sight' players...those who log without disbanding and occupy a spot in the entertainer group)

5) Allow /denyservice to survive relog..make it a permanent list like Ignore or Friend

I have ABSOLUTELY NO DESIRE to see /changegroupdance commands or any other such ilk that could make dancing as frustrating as trying to play music. Our XP is tied to the dance we perform. I don't want any other player to be able to determine what dance Im doing or to stop me from dancing. I feel sorry for the musicians in my groups that have to suffer through this.

For a wish list...

1) allow /setperf to be placed on multiple players and base the time required to buff upon the total number of ppl in the grp. This will give the masters another reason to group with the new entertainers and put a dent in buffbot appeal. /SETPERF is the key to nerfing buffbots.

2) fix the flourishes on all the dances or disable a few combat options for each of the combat professions until time can be set aside to fix them. There is no reason any of us should have to put items like this on our wish lists. This is basic to the profession and should have been fixedas one of the highest priorities. Imagine a Doctor with stims that only work sometimes.

3) give the Theatre some function within the game. No one ever goes to these buildings now unless they need a trainer. Players need some reason to go there as often as they do the Cantinas. Perhaps allow musicians to buff mind there and dancers to buff will and focus....exactly oppostite that allowed in cantinas.

4) take great care in changing the current macro capabilities. Tho it might be the easiest way to fix some of the problems listed in this thread, it is also the fastest way to remove any character flexibility that entertainers have. I run recursive macros all the time to do my dances, but I am very, very seldom away from the keyboard.

5) give us some place within the Jedi revamp. Are all Jedi just cretins with a fancy version of a caveman's club?

All in all, I am content with the Dance profession and I think very little of it should be changed. What needs the most serious attention is the environment in which we must perform. Buffbots not only create loads of spam and lag, they remove much of the healing XP that would go to the other entertainers. Most players will simply go watch them while they wait to be added to the group. It's easier. The best way to deal with Buffbots is to announce that they are no longer legal. Just change something in the user agreement or something like that. Then send some CSRs thru to monitor now and then and issue a few bans, you'll be surprised how fast they'll vanish. One suggestion might be to allow them to buff AFK, but force them to do it in a very inconvenient location that lacks any means of planetary advertising.Or maybe this is a reason for towns to have cantinas and theatres.Give them some reason to go there.Just get them out of the major traffic points.

Just some grist for the mill...

1: AFK dance macro's / Buff bots, To me this is the top priority, the difference in enjoying the dancer proffession with and without afk entertainers is almost inestimable.

2: Improve the band flourish system, making it easier to perform in groups, and for exp to be given to all members, not just the one doing the bandflourishes (maybe give bandflourishes a bonus on exp, provided people are doing the same dance?)

3: Finish the Dances that already exist, eg: exotic 1-4 all have only a few flourishes.

4: Improve/update the Entertainer missions: This is something long overdue, There really needs to be some more veriety in the missions themselves, and a lot better rewards. Currently they are just a waste of programming as no one uses them twice

5: Add a veriant of the exquisite dancer leotard. One for males. (ive got a male dancer friend who never ceases to point this out to me)

Top 5 is really stuff that should have been fixed/completed a while ago. But number 6 would be some new content

6: Add new Dances.

1.)Make it so AFK people can not turn the AFK status off, hence we are not forced to listen to their spam when our settings is “not listen to AFK players”. It wouldn’t get rid of them but it would be a LOT less spam in Cantinas and sooner or later they will catch on, realize everyone has them “turned off” and quit spamming.

2.)Fix the registration bug.

3.)Re-warp the whole buff application system. Make it blonde-proof (yep I’m a blonde:-p)

4.)Please fix and finish our dances. I will never forget my disappointment when I mastered dance first time. Was actually very sad. Lol what a let down

5.)Make the dances more fluid and graceful when changing from one dance to another and/or flourishing.
Example of how it could be done:
-Kind of like in any professional dance you have basic poses from which all other moves start and finish. Find or add that pose to all dances and when a dancer does a /changedance the character will continue dancing till it reaches the one common pose and then change, rather then jerk to change as it is now.
And yes I know you can time it, but first of all it’s very stressful and second of all even if it looks correct on my screen it may look bad on someone else’s because of the lag issue.
-Let us “stack” flourishes the way combat people can do with special attacks. So if I press 5 or so flourishes at one time my character will gracefully move from one to the next without the base dance ever showing.

Combination of these two changes would give us an ability to create unlimited number of our own dances without stress and missing majority of what is being said because I’m waiting for just the right moment to flourish again.

Kindly take your griping to the sticky on Buffbot debating - this isn't the thread for it.

Erm, Panthu?
What did you actually report now, what our top five issues were.
I am curious what our "official" top five issues are.

I haven't yet. I wanted to poll on my final list before I turned it in, but TH says he wants these now. I'll be putting them together this evening and I'll post a copy here. If there is a need for rush revisions, we can still do them.

I think we should make focus threads for each of our top five issues this quarter. This seems to be a good way to generate extra feedback for the Devs to review and might give a clearer picture into the heart of our issues.

Well, I'm not a dancer, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express. And I do have a Musician alt. One of the top issues I'd like to see, from both Dancer and Musician, is:

Improve our worth to combatants - make us more than the Buff-Bot-Stop-Shop.

1) Please allow Musicians and Dancers to heal BF in camps.

2) Please give Musicians and Dancers something that will help combatants more than every couple of hours.

  • "Soothe Animal" that would causeaffected mobs to stop fighting for a period of time or until they are hit (individual before novice, and area at Master); turn red mobs yellow so they lose their aggressive tendencies for a time.
  • "Siren Song" amind-buff attack (removes a portion of entertainer buffs).
  • "Medusa" which could reduce the hit speed of an enemy for a period of time (up to 90% at Master, perhaps).
  • "Fog" which could reduce the speed with which an enemy runs (including players - negate burst run or FR for Jedi).
  • "Distract" which could confuse the enemy for a period of time preventing them from hitting their target.
  • "Dazzle" which could blind an enemy for a period of time.

/whisper Kinda trying to wait until everybody has a chance to see the flourish fixes and the quests. Shhhh, don't tell TH!

I just have a temp one in right now. Because of the timing of JTL, a lot of Corrs asked for an extension. TH is honestly too busy right now anyway I think. I'll post the official one I submit when I do. (most likelya weekafter JTL launch)
