No way would I ever "close them off". Half the fun is meeting and seeing cross server friends. Huge parties are fun parties, and we only do them every few weeks anyway.

I think a lot of the bad feelings can be appeased if it's made clear, and if everyone realizes, that 'the code is more of guidelines than actual rules' to paraphrase Pirates of the Caribbean. This past Saturday was my first crawl, so I don't have much experience, but I don't think I once saw anyone yell at someone for breaking any rules. I saw several people doing their own thing in terms of dancing and such (i.e. not in formation), and these were actually celebrated and enjoyed by everyone as far as I can tell (the examples I remember were n'jessi stepping forward and doing a dance solo at one point, and the rebel vs. imperial dance-off).
There are many (myself included) who like the organization, the matching outfits, the specified groups and such. And it's hard to deny it makes for a good effect visually and sonically. But if you're not one of the people who likes that, do your own thing, totally. No one's going to yell at you
.
BTW, Javier, one thing that struck me during the crawl was that I kept feeling the urge to help out, yet as a completely newbie cross-server dancer who didn't even keep my main's name for recognition, I had no duties. I wanted to offer my help for the next crawl (assuming I can make it), presumably for some organizational kind of duty (as I'm re-rolling to get my clone on Bria), such as just being responsible for responding to questions as to who the group leaders are. Simple things like that, especially the repetitive tasks, can make things easier, I would think, for those who already have too much on their hands. So let me know what I can do!

Yes, please do volunteer! I for one will be a participant in the next several Crawls, so there will probably be an openning for a choreographer.
Javy, one thing I would recommend though is that the tailor(s) give any outfits to someone other than the choreographers. I don't know about Dranon and Ubi, but between trying to get everyone that fell into my group's level invited and getting them set up with 3 or 4 pieces of clothing, I was hard pressed to keep on top of it all. Perhaps there can be a choreographer's assistant?

Well, if your coming from cross server, you might as well pick up Novice Ent. Actually some of the Crawl attendees aren't Entertainers on their main server. They either have Entertainer friends or just want to get involved. The fact is everyone, Entertainers and Non-Entertainers, are welcome.

Few things to respond to:
I've always loved Rangers...ever since I saw my first wookie ranger, with his handabove his eyes, "tracking" or whatever it is you guys do. And your camps, I love them. Most rangers I've come across have been extremely wonderfulpeople. I don't know if we share a "kinship" or something because our professions seem to be some of the least respected or utilized or paid attention to. But, I really do hope this BF healing in camps things come to fruition because I'd love to be able to work together more with the rangers.
Second, I don't mean to be childish or anything, but my first thoughts when I saw "debrief" in the title was to giggle too. lol
Third, and I don't mean to start an argument here but when I first witnessed some of the people at the crawl, not getting into uniform, or not standing in a line outside of the Cantina I was a little bit disappointed. I didn't say anything at the time and probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been brought up here. But, it seemed to me like people were trying to separate themselves. I understand that maybe some people didn't want to betold what to do. And, that's fine. And, I understand that the point of the crawls is primarily to have fun. And, ifgetting in the line and not wearing the "uniform" took away that fun from you, then by all means, youshouldn't have to do it. I don't understand why it was such a big deal. But, because it was, that's certainly your choice.
I think that beyond just having fun, the crawls, at least for me, have been away of expressing entertainer solidarity. And, that doesn't mean we all have tobe and act the same by any means. But, I personally like the uniforms. And, I believe that Javier has done an absolutely wonderful job of expressing many of the entertainers' biggestconcerns about SWG through art, the videos. And, I'm glad to help out with that, and I'm glad to be a part of it.But, first and foremost, I find doing this sort of thing to be really fun. So, just for me, personally, the crawls are about morethanjustthe fun. They've taken on a life of their own with a clear, distinct message. And, perhaps some people don't always agree with the message, and that's fine too. Again, we're allentitled to our own opinions and we should be allowed to express our individuality. But, I never once was under the impression thatwearing matching clothes or standingin line for a group shot took away my ability to express myself as an individual. And, I will admit that when some people didn't standoutside for the group shot, I was a little annoyed because it seemed like they didn't want to be a part ofthe group.
That may be a little narrow minded, and I had already come to terms with the fact that nobody should be forced to do so. I just didn't get why there was such an objection to it. And, the commentsthat were made in spatial on more than one occasion ruined the mood in some respects, because they just seemed so negative, and that took away some of my fun. My gut reaction was, "what's thebig deal?"It's possible I may not have even noticed ifI hadn'tseen the comments in spatial to begin with. But, I wantedto be like...well, take the negativity elsewhere because this is supposed to be fun. Again, while I don't understand why exactly, I do understand that some people felt the matching outfits and thegroup shots took away some of that fun, so I can respect that.
Finally, I don't know ifit is even a consideration in Javier's mind or not to discontinue the outfits. But, I personally love the matching outfits and the videos, and thegroup shot, which we usually have one of. It just makes me feel like I'mpart of a greater community, a community that not only likes to have fun, but is willing to take a solid stand *with* each other to address some of the things that need to be addressed. And, I don't know if Javier plans to do anymore of these types of videos, message related or not. And, that's perfectly fine if he doesn't. But, I would like to continue to at least have the matching outfits and that sense of community. So, I hope we still have themes and things like that because, to me, that's just fun. But, at the same time, obviously, nobody should ever be forced to fully participate in any of it. And, hopefully, some of the negative comments made in spatial, as well as the negative comments directed to those who don't want to fully participate in every single aspect of the crawl, can be kept to a minimum.
I'llmake my best effort to try to respect the choices of those who don't have poopy attitudes.
