Thread: Anyone notice a mind buff given by dancers?

Well I have to admit that it's verynice to see that allthose hours of listening to /lick and /moan and putting up with people asking for "private" sessions has finally been worth it!!! Since attaining Master I've pretty much stopped dancing in Cantina's... only showing up when a friend needs training on those last few levels or when my guildmates are coming back from some factioning missions... They liked having me along for hunting parties before, so they'll especially like it now I'd imagine (particularly on Dathomir).

I wonder though... if we "hire out" to hunting parties, what should be the going rate?

I would think "all travel expenses paid" + "share of mission creds as member of group" + "minimum of 1000 per hour" for our dancing. Am I being greedy? Or not asking enough? I've never done this for anyone outside my guild, so I really have no idea.

Hmm, all expenses paid is something I require for doing field work. Unless I'm going on my own accord. Which I do regularly with a certain group of hunters. If they're doing paying missions require them to split the rewards with you. Basically be grouped with them and you'll get your share. If you're doing hunting missions, where your group isn't going to money grind, require them to pay you for the amount of hours you spend with them. I think around 2-3k an hour is reasonable. Most of the time they'll let you help kill stuff and split loot with you. If you're going for combat XP, there's a lot to be made. Hopefully they have a combat medic with them so that way you die so easily.

My only suggestion is to clone on the hard worlds. Nothing sucks more than dying and have to wait around for a medic to heal your black bars.

Here are the results of testing I did today with a master dancer and a near master dancer:

1) Mind enhancement can only be provided in one of the normal venues (camp, home, cantina, etc.)

2) Mind enhancement provides a buff of (Mind Enhancement Skill Mod / 2) percent. A master dancer or master musician will give a 50% bonus with their +100 skill mod. A dancer with only +50 skill mod provided a 25% bonus.

3) The duration of the buff is 2x the time you watched and/or listened, to a maximum of 30 minutes.

Very very nice! I haven't tested stacking dancer + musician yet, but if it works, wow! Even with just one master, this is a great thing!

Ok, I am not a master dancer. I started this thread because someone who was watching me noticed the mind buff. I've been reading that this only works for master dancer. It may be that you only get the full effect with a master dancer, but it is clearly working to some degree even without master.

Duh, people!

I always wondered what that Dancing Mind Enhancement skill was!

I thought it gave the dancer a bonus to their Mind pool, but it looks like I'm wrong.

This is a VERY COOL feature, especially with rifle mind shots being a favorite PvP method. More mind = more headshots can be received = higher survivability in PvP battle.

I'm surprised this hasn't been discovered before. Now this makes dancers and musicians all that more valuable. (And it makes the Dancing Techniques Discipline more valuable than having Action-draining cosmetic "effects".) HOWEVER:

THIS ALSO MEANS THAT IT IS EVER MORE VITAL THAT DANCERS/MUSICIANS GET THE ABILITY TO DECIDE TO GRANT OR DENY THE BENEFITS OF THEIR PERFORMING TO INDIVIDUALS.

I utterly loathe the fact that disgusting, sexually harrassing, rude, and factionally opposing scum can get healing from my dancing. Now I'm going to help them survive PvP?If i'm a covert rebel dancer, an Imperial can come in and get a mind boost before going out and slaughtering fellow rebels? PLEASE!

Now I may have gotten confused along the way but.. I told a friend of mine about this, and then she tried it, except she watched two dancers. Now it seemed that she evetually brought her 1100 mind up to 3712, So... wondering if anyone experienced this before.

Lorelei, I'm not a member of a faction myself, but I have been told by a dancer friend who is a covert rebel that Imperials cannot be healed by watching her dance.

That's a relief, at least! And look at the news from the test center! They're going to give us a /denyService command so we can refuse to mind healthe others I mentioned!

Prismata,

Were you grouped with anyone at the time when you saw this occur? If so this is why it happend. Entertainer group healing is cumulative. If you were watched by someone yet there was a master musician or dancer in the group you were in the buff would be conveyed.

It trickles through the group because you are connected to them. Its also the reason why if a master musician and a master dancer are group the effect is doubled.

ZekarXG: It is possible to "overstack" the buffs by watching a person then stoppnig then starting repeatedly as well, although we haven't tested the exact behavior of everything.

So theoretically, with one person you could watch for 15 minutes to get a 50% buff, then stop and watch for 15 minutes to get another 50% buff, then for the next 15 minutes you would be on a 100% buff and then 15 minutes after that, down to 50% again, then gone.

I haven't done any tests on watching more than one entertainer at a time and then stopping watching each one. I'll try to get some of my friends to test this with me soon.

Apparently we Musicians can buff Focus and Willpower to complement you Dancers with your Mind buff. I've finally managed to verify that Dancers do confer this mind buff; I'll test more with Musicians today. If, between us, we can buff all three stats, that's pretty nifty.

Also, has anyone tested this in a camp? Buffing in the field would be very nice.

OMG! This is so cool! Thanks to all of you who have pointed this out and tested to determine the actual effects. Not I don't feel as though I have a completely useless profession

I can't wait to get in game and try this out! And hey, maybe people will even start tipping again!
