Thread: Anyone notice a mind buff given by dancers?
Yes Sylune_heart I tried it yesterday. I targeted myself and used /watch (later with /watch Aniella) with ending /stopwatching but it did not work for themself in this way. Saddly, it wouldbe beeing nice.
For customers it works fine. I called as soon I came home a friend to play guinea pig for me
. Saddly it buffs mind only not willpower and focus too. That would be great for for our healer friends. But anyway a great news, and at least something that is special for masterdancers.

Aniella (Gorath) Dancer
Anyone else notice this?
I just found this out earlier this week and thank you for the detailed explaination on how it works. Does it actually have to be a master because the enhancementskills are given to us at Techniques 1 and continues up that line and then you get more at master.
Tech 1 = +10
Tech 2 = +15
Tech 3 = +20
Tech 4 = +25
Master = +25
Also.. why the heck isn't the person watching notified of the enhancement? Some might find it a reason to tip more and they don't even know it happend.
I wish that it lasted as long as doctor's enhancements and we had control over its distribution. I use my doctor enhancement packs as a reward for those that are good tippers. An extra thank you to help them out. It just seems dancers are just expected to give everything away without expecting anything in return.
No, its the "skill" that is given by the techniques tree. Click on one of them and you see something like "Mind Enhancement +10". That's what this is..
Heya all again,
I got this buff to work tonight. But it wears off almost as soon as it is applied. Since the dancers and mucsicians are the mind buffers and healers, it should really be a big issue with your class. I can see how this fell off of your developer list of fixes since nobody knew about it.
As a rifleman playtoy of holoclown, this is a big thing. Please ask for it to be fixed. It makes your class worth more and desirable in a group.
Thanks for the info Sylune. My customers had actually noticed this buff before but I didn't realize I was the one responsible for it
I'd always just assumed a passing doctor buffed them or something.
It also explains why my ID partner's mind would jump up and down. And here I teased her about being crazy ![]()
Sinda, yes I have noticed the problems with /listen and /watch. It seems to be that we used to be able to watch a dancer and listen to a performer at the same time, and that they removed that ability for whatever reason. The trouble comes in when you join a troupe and you are by default watching some dancer in the group (I don't know the details exactly). But right after I join a troupe any more, if /listen doesn't work, I can type /stopwatch (even if I never explicitly started watching anyone) and then /listen again and it will sometimes work. I could be way off, but there's definitely something wierd going on with /listen and /watch.
Goldy, those are some good questions. Furthermore, since we get the +'s to mind enhancement in the tech line, does that mean that our buffing ability is improved/affected by using effects?
Very interesting stuff. I'll be watching my customers more closely tonight and letting my friend know she isn't crazy after all ![]()

How long the buff lasts is directly correlative to how long they watch. Given that the Academy has folks training to be combat performers (fighting, scouting, and providing heals in camps) we ran several tests tonight.
Buff works in camps, player owned buildings, and public cantinas. We did tests with a minimum of 5 minutes watching time, up to 10 minutes for the one run in a camp. The buff does NOT apply if the person does not choose to /stopwatch or use the radial, but it is applied the instant that they choose to do that. You CAN stop dancing in between, and it will still work and be cumulative.
In all cases with at least a 5mins watch time, mind was buffed by 50% (ie, someone with 600 ended at 900, someone with 900 at 1350, etc). The buff lasted, in our tests, a minimum of ten minutes or so, with a maximum of 20 minutes for the person who watched for a full ten minutes.
It does not matter what dance is danced, so long as the person performing it is a master. It doesn't matter if the master is grouped or not, the effect on the watcher is the same.
We've not yet done similar tests on musicians, nor have we done a 'long term test' to see if the length of the buff can be increased from 20 minutes at all. I would doubt it, as a 20 minute buff puts us right on par with the buffs provided to other stats by docs.
Wonderful news indeed. One, it gives us another alternative for money making, and interesting things to do once master has been achieved (via hiring out for hunting trips, travelling through wilds as gypsies, etc) and two, it gives a real reason to achieve mastery - because that is the only way to provide it.
Oh, I wanted to add that one reason I think this is so sporadic is that very few people take the time to /stopwatch or use the radial to stop watching an entertainer. From everything our tests showed, that has to happen, or the buff does not. It MAY work differently with musicians, since you do get a 'you stop listening to XXX because they are too far away" if you don't do so - that doesn't really happen with dance, though, so I think that's why it's critical that they literally stop.
I can see the point re: notifying them that they are being buffed, on one hand, but the problem is that A) it doesn't take effect until after they /stopwatch, and b) they're not notified of us healing other things - but the two obviously create a catch 22, because unlike healing of mind or bf, they get no visual indicator that it's happening until they /stopwatch, at which point the full buff is immediate.
I've started saying it to people who come in to where I'm performing - most especially those that are already wounded, implying that they have been in a fight of one kind or another. I can see that causing problems, though, as it becomes another line in AFK macros, or generates bitterness among dancers in a group, because it could seem as though the master is attempting to 'steal' the show, and the tips along with it. Until it's more widely known, and people can walk in and request a master themselves, or look for someone with the title, I don't see a lot of options. I'm willing to risk someone thinking I have ego if it means that people start to realize we have this ability, and put value on it.
Thank you following up on testing Adarax.
I had not tested this extensively as you. Thanks for the heads up on the issue.
And yes Sinda the /watch and /stopwatch command are currently a bit buggy.
Sometimes they work sometimes they do not.
Now we just need to see if we can get accumulative effects from both a Master musician and Dancer at the same time. If we can get the /listen to command to work properly i bet they do infact stack.
According to the game guide you can increase your mind by a MAX of +1000 since a dancer alone can only max out at +500 they must stack somehow.
A +1000 mind buff that lasts 20 minutes doesnt seem bad to me at all ![]()

Last night I was dancing while my sister was working on her image design so I had her watch me (she used the radial dial) and we opened up her stat window to. It did creep up slowly as she was watching me. We logged out after she got master entertainer so there was no /stopwatch given so I don't know if the stats don't stick until you stop or what but she did in fact see the steady increase from watching me while she was watching me, not after stopping. We weren't really testing anything just trying to give her a few extra chances at image design exp with a boosted mind bar. We'll try to pay more attention to the effects of watching me when we do this again.
